Dear DPSes,
Assuming that the BoL nerf goes live, I am still hopeful it doesn't or that they at least change the nerf, I hope that it will be more of a positive nerf than a more damaging one. I understand why they nerfed the skill. It is an OP heal in PvP, but dungeon/trial wise it hurts not the healer, but the group. I know a lot of Templar-healers reacting to this (myself included), what I am more surprise is that why there are only a few DPS who didn't complain. Truth is, if this nerf takes place, and DPSes (maybe even tanks) who have squishy builds are the one affected by this. Your healer won't die as fast as you, he/she gets to heal him/herself regardless the nerf. The nerf clearly says it heals both the caster and one more ally. So if it's not you who's getting that heal, you're probably a dead DPS after the first BoL cast.
Now I'm not saying every DPS should complain, but I sure hope you change your build. You don't get the luxury of building glass-cannon builds anymore, you have to make sure you survive mobs/bosses who does insane amount of AoE damage. You have to take at least one DPS ability in exchange of a shield or a healing spell, just in case everyone in the group gets insane damage, and when your heal cast that BoL, you're not the lucky person that gets your healers BoL.
On top of that your healer would appreciate it if you can remove one more DPS ability, so you can also sustain your own resources, be it stam or magicka, since it will be too costly for your healer to throw a shard, eledrain, etc as your healer (no matter how good he/she is) may actually spam BoL now, just to make sure you're health can survive the next series of blows you will be taking. Oh yeah, just make sure too that you keep your buffs up and if you have purge please use it, despite efficient purge is costly, just to make sure you remove your debuffs, as your healer doesn't have extra space to slot it, as he/she will just use HoTs juuuust to be sure that everyone is alive.
Lastly, it would be very helpful if you avoid damage from now on. Standing in red isn't anymore a viable option for you as you may not be the lucky recipient of the extra BoL. Please dodge roll out of it, or just make sure you're avoiding them at all cost. You may have to stop DPS for a while and if you're a stam user it will probably eat up your stam pool, but what's important is your alive.
xoxo
Lol. Sorry, I know this one sounds sarcastic, but my point is if the BoL makes it to live, everyone should revisit their skills/builds/rotations/gameplay/CP/etc. Many people here in the forum think that the nerf to BoL in the TG PTS is not a big deal, but the truth is, it's NOT Templar-healers who are affect by this, we still get to heal ourselves, it's the DPSes (and tanks) who are getting nerfed. Now you have to make sure you make space in your action bars healing or some sort of survivability skill. That means you may need to remove a DPS ability on your bar/s. You can no longer blame your healers for your deaths nor can you blame them for spamming BoL, because BoL will be more likely be spammed now than ever. If a good healer can cast BoL once or whenever required, now he/she has to cast it more than he/she normally does just to be sure that everyone is alive.
I'm not qq'ing with this nerf, I can still myself alive when I cast my BoL, but if this makes it to live, I sure do hope that everyone learn to actually avoid damage now-- eg getting out of red or blocking or just being aware of what's happening around them.
I still think though, that if ZoS really wanted to nerf BoL because of players spamming it like there's no tomorrow, they should have increased the cost of it instead.
