Tanks are just crap now, can they get some help?

Buff to heavy armor....

Some useful skills? (heavy attacks taunt, group taunt)

A reason to use them?

Honestly, there is so little point to a tank....everything takes forever as you just SLOWLY take it down, so solo content is just rough.

A Tank will NEVER, EVER beat VMA....never.

They need some love, and I dont mean stam regen when blocking, i am happy that is gone (adds some fun) but just some skills that actually help, or have a reason to play with them.....

Uhm, neither will a healer. It has been stated countless times VMA was purely DPS orientated. It's not that I don't sympathise with your plea, it's that I hate it when people use the arena as a base for their argument.

    Fair enough, to a point...

I know a few mackica temps that are healers, that with a simple re-spec in their champ points have beaten it (more than 1)

Unless they add renewable sigils to VMA so you could use Sigil of Power multiple times during a stage in decrement of scoring.

While I've not tried vMA on my tank, I plan to do so after I craft some DPS gear for him. I believe it is possible to do; I've been able to complete it on my healer while using a DPS set-up.

I don't think you can think of a "tank" in the context of solo play. You can be a tanky character, but you'll still have to kill things yourself.

My tanks have a DPS bar. Stuff still dies more slowly than on my DPS characters, but I don't consider myself to be "tanking" when I'm by myself.

Right, my healer also has a dps bar. So does my tank for that matter. I only go full healer when running group content.

I'm a tank and I have beaten vMA. It's just a simple gear swap. Regarding tanking, I think the problem at this point is the CP system allows other non tanking players to be almost as tanky as an actual tank and therefore you don't need an actual tank for most content. I don't think buffing heavy armor at this point will make much difference till they balance the content out as to where an actual tank is required.

I've beaten it on both my templar healer and my templar tank.

It's just a pain in the butt having to change CP, gear, mundus, attributes(for the tank) and morphs, every single *** time I feel like running vMA on one of these characters. Really expensive to.

Same problem of course with PvP builds, they also need to change CP, morphs, gear and mundus, to do Veteran Arena.

Why they need to make it so damn complicated and restricting? Give us dual spec's and be done with it. I dont have time or money to change my build 5 times a week.

Meanwhile on my PvE sorc I only need to change like one morph and one Willpower ring lol. Voilà my veteran arena build is complete. PvE dps builds are so close to solo arena build. So PvE dps players, especially in my guilds, totally dont get why I'm qq'ing about this

I'd like to see a group taunt, so I can enrage an entire pack of monsters at once, then face them down grinning like an idiot, shield clanging and standing my ground like a complete lunatic in the face of almost certain death, instead of chasing them around the room to poke them with Pierce Armor while Yakety-Sax plays in the background.

    That is all.

Called unchained plus vr 15 Stam pot plus caltrops. No muss no fuss.

Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

If you're a good Tank, at lvl 16 you will be a very popular player. Everyone will want to be your friend.

I never understood why so many games try to use the trinity approach.

Roles make sense but Tank, DPS, Healer.....naaaah

-Imagine this....a game where weapons, armor, skills and passives allow you to just play the game.
I guess it just bothers me because there is no way in h......that one or two players can just stand there and get beat on while others support them and it be fun.

What I'm getting at is...ZOS could continue the...this isn't like an server based RPG game and remove the need of a tank and allow Healing and DPS to balance out the tanky stuff so that we either heal more, resist more and shield more.

Nothing to take away from someone who wants to stand up and get beat on and taunt but, I think some simple changes could occur to healing, shields, and tank-type skills, and abilities to make things more fun and interesting...definitely less boring.

Guild Wars 2 tried to do this, and their endgame dungeons are the lamest thing I have ever played in my life.

Everyone just stacks on top of each other, spams all their skills and stuff dies. No skill required. Just stack and spam.

You may not like the idea of the "trinity", but there's a reason it's so ubiquitous - it's because it works. People like to know what their role is, and if you try to remove it then group activities just turn into a bunch of solo players spamming whatever skills they have without coordination.

I wouldn't be averse to replacing the trinity with something different (if you can come up with something better), but players will always need a well-defined role, otherwise group play just devolves into every man for himself cluster-fark.

Oh, and tanking - when done right, in a game that does it right - is far from boring. The lack of Tanks in ESO just points to the fact that most content doesn't "require" a tank, or that tanking is not fun as you said.

I actually don't think you would. It'd be rather long and boring.

Anyways. most tanks that i know have all their attribute points in Stamina and none in health. kinda odd, but it works so hey.

a DPS won't beat VMA either.
You need to have some defensive skills/heals.

VMA is a solo dungeon, so you need to be a hybrid. Tanks, healers and DPS are still needed in group play, though.

p.s. There was a video of a tank killing the last boss in VMA. Obviously he's not your pure tank who gets healed by a group and whose group deals damage for him -- he had a lot of magicka/stamina not just health. He probably had heavy sets with spell (or weapon damage), but there you go - a tank with 1h+S did beat the arena :)

a sorc DPS can do with with 150 chmp points, if not less.

How are tanks "crap"? I haven't seen any indication that there is a real problem with tanking. Have you examined your build lately to see if there are any adjustments you can make to not be "crap"?

Well sorcs are from a different world. They should've been nerfed long time ago.

And my point still holds -- they are no pure DPS, they use shields/heals. Something that DPS usually don't use in group dungeons. Similarly, tanks need to sacrifice some tankiness so they can deal damage. I don't believe we are having this conversation. It's obvious that in solo content you must balance dps and survivability.
