As stated above with the Dark Brotherhood.

They're allowing us to do whatever silver and gold area we want in whatever order we want with Thieves Guild update, so I assume that's the last phase before removal.

I'm still wondering how this is going to change leveling 1-50 though as they haven't really released any details on that yet.

    Go here: http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2016/01/12/eso--the-year-ahead

" We've talked publicly many times about the removal of veteran ranks and we are still committed to doing so. The goal behind this change is to make the Champion system the primary vehicle for customizing your character past level 50. This work is currently scheduled for Q2 as part of the Dark Brotherhood update.

Here's some info about how this transition will work:

There will be little or no changes to our current 1-50 player leveling system. You will receive one Skill Point per level as you do now, and one point to put into your Attributes (Stamina, Magicka, or Health.)
From 50+, you will receive Champion Points as you gain Experience, which you can use to further augment your character via the Champion System. The character information window will be updated to show your level, plus your Champion Rating, which is the total number of Champion Points you have accrued.
You will be able to gain more Skill Points the same way you do now, by completing quests, raising your Alliance War rank, and collecting Skyshards.
We will continue to slowly raise the Champion Point cap over time as we add more content. The cap is currently set at 501 Champion Points."

Expect it around June 2016, three months after Thieves Guild launch...
We'll most likely be level 50, or something like "Veteran", then the Champion Points will kick in.

No, no one is getting knocked down or up.

    You stay where you are....
Gear restrictions...according to ZOS will rely on CPs but you character level will be 50.

Gear tiers, etc. arent changing as far as we know.
To be honest....as suggested, its a big woop-to-doo for nothing.

Basically, VR becomes CP and so VR is just moving to account wide....and skill and stat points in VR will occur from 1-50 in increments. None of this fixes the problems of VR...but then again, ZOS doesn't usually fix anything, they just change it ....which may lead to other issues cause the CP system isn't awesome nor does it work for progression.

Just me ranting...cause...this whole thing has been delayed.....all they had to do so far is make VR account wide if this is all their changing. Silly and meaningless mess is what seems to be up ahead.

Well 50 and vr1 are technically the same. I assume it will be 50. But maybe they'll just label it veteran without a number after it.

Doesn't really matter or have an affect. It's just semantics at this point. Everything will convert to champion rank. Which for me is 305. Sounds wierd now that I think about it.

i currently have 198 CP's. being knocked down from 13 to 50 will i technically be "weaker"? or does the whole ability to be naturally stronger when you level up not exist in eso?

Yeh this ^ you need to stop thinking of it as being "knocked down". No one is losing anything in the transition.

adding: you say you have 198 cps so actually you will be at max for gear after the change. They are saying the VR16 gear will be at 160cp. You're actually getting a boost ;p

Man...this is exactly what I' ve tried to point out to ZOS.....

The whole remove VR to use CP is going to be a nightmare.

Just let us all be 50...and keep the CPs as they are.
As mush as it frustrates me on the amount of materials needed for VR16 stuff, perhaps gear progression is the best immediate focus...absent of CPs restrictions or labeling to classify difficulty because having CPs isn't progression by default. Using CPs is not always progression either unless they adjust the incremental diminishing returns of using CPs

So, how the equipment level is going to work after the vr removal? I mean, are they going to level it by CP or after 50+ you can use any of the old equipment? Perharps they will just delete everything between vr1~15. Is there any information about this subject?

The latest comments from ZOS state that each 10 cp will be equivalent to 1 vr. So a vr 16 item will become a cp 160 item.

    Basically it does two things:

    1. Keeps their promise that they will remove VR, even if it's not a particularly good way.
    2. Makes it mean that there is no longer VR and CP, which can hopefully mean that things are now balanced/scaled on how much CP you have. This should rid a lot of those complaints of "he's only better because he has x CP", as scaling will take this into account. I really like the change for this.
I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

Wait so I only started this game around 4 weeks ago and I'm already Vet 6 with I think 130-150 CPs+ so if we went by the new system I'd be capped already? Seems kinda quick unless they remove the enlightened bonus, just saying I don't see why people are moaning so much about reaching the CP cap as it seems pretty easy to me.

Titles are what you are looking for if you want prestige. Vet ranks aren't worth much really, hardcore players grind to v16 in a couple days, and the rest of us joylessly slog through them on alts.

Not sure how crafting will work. But 160cp will be the requirement to use current vr16 equipment. 10cp takes like 2 to 3 days if you're slow, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to keep the crafting level mats tied in such low incriments.

We'll have to wait and see, but hopefully they will make it cool.

I cant speak for everyone, but as an old school MMO player since EQ1 beta days, theres pretty much nothing you can do for prestiege. No fancy title, no V16 over your name, theres nothing that gives you prestiege in my eyes after the crap those old games put us through. I'm sure theres more of us out there like that lol. :)

Even when ESO was at is grindiest with vet levels at launch, its not that bad compared to the old games.

Also Im wondering, if 160 CP=vet 16, what if you are vet 16 currently, but less then 160 CP? I don't evne know if that's possible the way CP work right now. What if you were V14 with very little champ points before IC came out, you get to v16, are they just gonna bump you to 160 if your below?

At that point they will give you enough cp to make up the difference.

They are planning on giving every vet account bonus cp. Which scales up to 40cp. This is only for your highest level character and is subject to change.
