It goes like this see.
Templers = Good Healer
Dragonknight = Good Tank
Nightblade = Good Stealth or something
Sorceror = Good ??????? / They can do something but im not sure what it is.

what's more, a good friend of mine pulls REALLY great dps as a magicka templar, and I've seen some great stamina templars as well. I think you must be missing something.
My High Elf Templar can reach over 3600 spell damage with over 41k magicka....if only templar got the OP sorc passive skills ....could get even higher..
Is awesome at anything pve and I still do pretty well in pvp with it as well...
Works great as dps or healer...can solo any content in the game pretty much even some group content...iv even seen some templar tanks better than most dk's...
Managed to kill some gankers a few times for 4k+ TV stones in IC...
I see templar not a healer but as a true hybrid jack of all trades class, it isn't best at anything but it's best at doing a little of everything. A swiss army knife of classes. It's pretty cool you can heal yourself, get back stamina instantly and recover magicka fast while dishing out good damage and heals...
Makes a great support/cc/buff/debuff class also.
Also the templar really shines in group pvp and group pve gameplay mechanics...but is also very strong solo reliability, you don't have to rely on anyone to get stuff done, may take longer but you can solo everything.

While my intentions of going bow was to stay out of range, it's just ridiculous that I have to rely on another weapon skill's buff to make me somewhat useful in terms of delivering DPS, even in a PvE situation. What's worse, even relying on these weapon skills still make me inferior to most classes in terms of effective DPS.

But now, Templar is a mess. I have a non-vet Magicka Templar that serves as a full-on healer, and it's fun, but I want a Templar that could also deal significant amount of damage in ranged Stamina build.

Read the fourth paragraph. Like I've said, they are doing fine as a Magicka DPS, but I would rather be a Stamina-based DPS, and a bow if possible.
Not asking for Templars to be overly buffed, but what good is a class like this if I'm saturated and aren't focused at anything even when geared towards it?

First of all. Stam Nigthblade hasnt got any ranged skills (well except will of the assassin) so why should it be the "go-to class".
Second of all atm you can deal more damage as a stamina templa. Check out Alcasts Jabsmania Build (http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/jabsmania-templar-stamina-dd-build-for-update-1-6/). I use it and i do 20-22k DPS.
As a templar biting jabs is your main damage skill so why would you go ranged and deal alot less damage?
And for all those, saying templar-DPS is ok and so on...they cannot come close to DKs or Magicka-Sorc Burst. Maybe in some situational burst fights with Magicka-Detonation, but definitely not on long fights.
But this only matters for trials/speedruns, for dungeons it's more than enough...

Yes, they're doable and can push nice dps under perfect conditions on fight that allows close to perma-stack.
I'm no fan of templar dps in the group. Especially not as a healer. They're not benefiting from Elemental Drain, while they're still having resource issues so they require Siphon Spirit as well.
They're wonky due to dps being channelled or mele+channelled. They cant block cast. They have problems cancelling casts. On fights that requires a lot of movement and active abilities, they take way to much dmg because of this. If not, if they're playing it safe, they suffer from major disconnects instead and the dps goes crap.
This is why I dont dps on any of my templars in PvE. All that work just to be "good enough" isn't worth it. Not when I can dps on another class that's not only easier to play, but also gives me a greater result.
