How does Weapon Damage affect Spell Damage?

So I've tried a few configurations on my Weapon Damage, testing the passive abilities and set bonuses and such, but the only thing that appeared to have an effect on my character sheet's Spell Damage was my weapon's base damage. But I've been told that, although the character sheet doesn't display it outright, those other bonuses to Weapon Damage still have an effect on the outcome.

So my question is, what exactly goes into the final calculation? Would boosting my Weapon Power higher have any effect whatsoever on my Spell Power?

the only weapon damage that converts to spell damage is the base, before added bonuses. (damage base on weapons)

bonuses to wep dmg, from passives and gear, do not in any way relate to spell dmg.

that being said though, your highest spell dmg will come from dual-wield because it has the highest wep dmg base.

Weapon and spell damage will be the same until you do something to change one. Also skills like surge or sap essence give you both major sorcery and major brutality increasing both values.

Anything that says "Weapon damage" will not effect spell damage.
Anything that doesn't specifically say "weapon damage" does effect spell damage.
Equip 5 pieces of hundings rage, or use rally, you won't get any spell damage.
