question about shield stacking.

Now I know sorcs do it and can manage( probably due to bolt escape.) I am a Templar and found a few shields that I could stack and wonder if it is a viable defense option or not(to save myself from a heavy hitting aoe.) This would require me to lose some heals to be able to stack shields on myself though this is why I don't know if it is a viable option. Anyone ever try it? If so how did it turn out?

EDIT: I asked a Templar buddy of mine they said they never thought to try it so I wonder if anyone has or not and what their experience is.
I have 17k hp and being low if I stack shields I can fill up my hp bar fully with shields.

No, its not viable as a templar. Sorcs can do it because their class shield is dumb strong (can get up to 20k+ shield) where templars class shield is based on you health and is much much weaker, its like ~25% of your max health. You won't be able to stack enough health to make shield stacking anywhere close to viable.

Also the Sorc shield last 20-30 seconds and the templar one last 6. You would have to cast it way to much to keep it up at all times.

Unless you are a sorc, don't bother attempting to stack shields.

see there is the shields you gain from light armor that lasts 20s the others would be more of an oh crap boss is winding up a heavy attack and I just broke free of a stun and cant dodge roll instead of dieing stacking shields to save my life.

With my vet 14 gear(grinding slowly out my 16 stuff) I have decent stats but my hp is low so idk how I will fair from some hard attacks
