Capes, vampire weddings, werecrocs and flying mounts

What is it about this short list of topics that seem to plague certain MMORPGers with absurd obsession?

The very short 3 months I played some WoW on a friend's account to help him grind levels was right before the first expansion and I remember getting a flying mount and thinking, "There are some carebears that are just freaking the hell out about this right now."
I was sort of amazed because I played Asheron's Call way, way back in the day and the developers only ever made a very, very rare utterance, and only something gnomic that didn't remotely address the issue of the day, endemic problems that had been the focus of constant, heated ranting or the like. Yet there was always this subset of players that were completely and utterly devoted to begging for (1) Capes and (2) Flying Mounts.
When I started playing this game I noticed that the people who tend to post about WW and vampire topics have the most embarrassingly unselfconscious and (even for MMO players) dorky ideas and weird lusts. I wonder how many threads there are about how a particular race wouldn't transform into a wolf, or how immersion-breaking it is for NPCs not to recognize their cult-assigned four-way marriage statuses. The same sort of thing seems to apply to begging for capes and flying mounts.
If you play a werebear and you have a bear pet and mount, when you transform back into a biped do your pet and mount turn into a hairy baby human and a big, burly man to ride around on? Would NPCs change their dialogue to reflect your man/bear mount/rider relationship and the custody battle you're in over who gets the pet/boy on the weekends?
A flying carpet could also be used as a cape, but it would always ride up like ill-fitting underwear and flip over your head and blind you in combat.
Underwerewolves is totz going to be my new PvP/RP guild's name when I reroll a toon in the E(r)P faction.
Why those particular things? Why not lore continuity or DLCs based in their race's lands that are in other games or one of the other usual nerd topics? There's a bit of that, but the truly awkward always seemed dead set on playing vampires in capes or being werewolves on flying unicorns?

✭I wouldn't mind capes myself, but you'll never catch me suggesting implementing something Lore-breaking. I also understood the first time someone told me why capes won't be coming to this game, and whilst I'm kinda sad about that I also got over it and didn't keep asking.
I always like pointing the people who want flying mounts and the like here and finding out if they actually have played any previous TES games, or they're coming in because it's an MMO. I don't think there was anyone who picked the first option that also wanted these blasphemous things...I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

^ quick Google search. Note all of those are Lore friendly and official outfits.

The guy on the left has a material cloak over his armour
^ adding that there not to spit on the lore, that is the MOST slick looking cape I could find and I am sure the best Tailors in Cyrodiil or Daggerfall can craft equally slick looking monotone capes. So ignore the Daedric possessed blade the masked imposter is wearing.

Some of them (like the capes) would put strain on the game system, even though they would be cool to have. Yet even though this has been explained time and time again, people continuously ask for it because they think "well if X game can do it, then ESO definitely can too!" and they either do not know or do not comprehend that ESO runs on a different engine with different code and different standards. While popular, you'd think that given the reason they would cease clamoring for it for a bit.
Vampires and Werewolves? Well. There are always those who want them buffed, or overhauled, or nerfed. But at least some of the concerns for them are reasonable enough. I actually don't mind the discussions.
Flying mounts on the other hand are...ludicrous. A feature they want copied into ESO just because it was a cool in another game. More often than not they don't even try to include lore when suggesting it. But ridiculousness aside, they also have some severe game-changing effects when it comes to player practices. Most notable among them being that players will use it to bypass conflict with quests, and essentially skip content by flying over it. More harm than good, really.

Cloaks, long coats, capes , and heavy robes on costumes and a few armor motifs are something I would be fine with. If every suit starts looking like lotro gear, we have a problem.
Flying mounts are just a no. Not no way, not no how.
@Duiwel please use spoilers for image heavy posts. A lot of people use their phones (or have strict data limits on their ISP) and JPEG images are data heavy. ✭✭OK last time ZOS has already said they are not never adding capes to ESO for the animation effects along would cause problems.
