Nord Hero Costume Should Have Been The Standard

If theres anything that annoys me about the base Racial Armor Styles is how shoddy they look even at higher levels. The few that seem to have more thought and care put into them being the Breton medium armor and Redguard armor in general. The Altmer, which youd expect to be much more picky about the finer details of their clothing and artisanship is loose, flappy and poorly stitched. The Nords heavy armor looks like it was an after thought going into the game with that WoW like inspired V that creeps down the chest as you level. Bosmer armor, being these people would have the most experience with leather crafting, looks like a first timers go at cutting animal hide. Dunmer armor looks just as bad as the Nord armor. Breton heavy armor oddly enough looks better at lower levels then it does at higher levels. The cloth and stitching built into the armor makes it look more detailed and simply brushing up and polishing the armor as it leveled with a few additions would of made it a worthwhile armor style.

I get that there needs to be a reason for players to move away from the Basic Racial Styles to more exotic looks. But the lack of attention to detail and effort put into those armors was absolutely unnecessary to accomplish this goal.

I think the Nord Hero Armor is very well done and should have been how the Art Department approached every armor style in the game.

I really dont mind lower level armors to look second hand, with poor craftmanship going into them. But theres no excuse for these armors to still look so poorly done at higher levels.

What annoys me about the Nord armor is how it looks like someones first time blacksmithing. Regardless if its Level 1 or VR 16. The details bleed into each other and the metal looks like it was of the poorest quality. With pock marks that probably meant to look like it had been worn in and used make it look like the crafter just didnt know how to properly work the metal.

I really dont think the Nord costume is such hot stuff. The concept is good but the execution is lacking. Clipping with weapons you sheathe on your back and the chubby midriff syndrome kinda spoil it for me.

Chubby midriff? That might just be on your character because it's certainly not on mine. It looks awesome on my Nord.

Theres definitely issues with how it fits your characters. But that seems to be common among all of the costumes. My point really wasnt about the clipping as much as the aesthetics of the costume. The detail that went into it visually to make it stand out and look as if it had been crafted by someone that knew what they were doing vs the basic racial armor styles that look as if they were purposely crafted poorly no matter what level you made them.

I noticed that my Bosmer had the same issue of looking chubby in the midsection due to the leather armor. But it looks fine on my Nord. I suspect that its not going to look very well on any characters that are not of typical Nord height or shape.

Yeah I addressed that in my edit.

The Armor, being inspired by the Nord Hero, is probably going to look better on Nords and characters of that stature and build. My Bosmer looks awkward with the leather waist when I put it on her since shes at the smallest you can make a character. It still looks good on her when shes not in a fighting posture. But the moment I pull out my blades she looks awkward. The Costume in general is just not going to look that good on anyone that isnt closer to 6 ft in game due to its thick design aesthetic in the waist, stomach and chest.

Ugh I know and it's kinda sad specially after all the nord styles in ESO and skyrim. What also bugs me is like the lower level HA helmets eye holes are black and not see through like VR helmets on NPC guards.

What youre seeing occurs on all characters regardless of what youre wearing. I can dismiss the costume and still see the movement on the Glass Motif Armor I have equipped. It just doesnt catch the eye as much as the Nord Costume because the Nord Costume has the white stitching that follows the spine of the character. So the movement seems more pronounced.

I understand how the effect happens - the armor is thicker around midriff and the effect is pronounced by the stitching outlining it... it looks bad regardless the explanation. And no... I dont see the effect with all armors. In fact its the only armor that I noticed it on. The movement might be there but it doesnt make your character look chubby.

This is really off topic at this point and should probably be put up in its own thread. Youre not going to look petite and slender in a outfit that is designed to pad certain areas more. You can complain about it all you want. But at this point, it really doesnt belong in this discussion.

They are resistant to cold. It doesn't mean that they don't feel it at all. When you live through a -40 degrees winter, you'll learn to appreciate fur.
