I am trying to find the best vpn for the lowest latency. Anyone have a vpn they use that actually helps?
I am connecting from new Zealand to texus based vpns
So far. There is 's lot of vpns out there claiming to be the fastest.
have found battleping to be the best and the only 1 have actually makes a difference. Pure van actually advertise that you can get 100ms ping if you use their van. Just lies and I have spoken with their support already.
240 ping with no vpn
190 ping with battleping
Flyvpn 250 ping
Purevpn 250 ping
Wtfast 250 ping

Unless your ISP has really bad routing to these game servers those VPNs won't ever actually do anything, except maybe make it worse as you now have to hit their server first.

Are there any settings you can tweak on your router to reduce ping?

There's a few things you can try and tweak on your computer:

Enable CTCP and ECN In Windows may reduce latency in some online applications

Use hidden Windows tweaks to speed up your Internet and network connections

Approach with caution and try not to screw up your computer :3

Yes I have to connect to Vpn, and you may think that would reduce performance. however the ping I get is the ping between the Vpn server and the eso game server. So if the Vpn server is located close by to the eso server. I could get 100ms ping and even though my ping to the vpn server is 160ms. The ping in game should show 100ms and result in much better performance. I am yet to find a con able to provide a ping lower than 190 though.

Yes but that doesn't change your actual ping, or the time it takes for skills to register to server. It's just a visual enhancement you're getting (seeing lower ping numbers because it says how the ping is from their server to ESO server)...you still have to get to both servers with your reaction times and them to you.

Not really. The lag isnt from you. Its from the game.
Their server is incredibly stressed during prime time mostly due to the way the combat is coded.
Things like AoE caps introduces a lot of stress since the game has to calculate:
    - random 6 ppl that get hit for 100% dmg
    - next random 24 ppl that get hit for 50% dmg
    - next 50 ppl that get for 25% dmg
    -and so on...

There was a patch several months ago where they limited abilities and passives to apply only to your group members and not to any randoms near you in an effort to reduce stress and server. It did help, but as you can see, lag is still worse.

There are guilds in NA PC that run in 24 man raids where the leader demands their group members to run meteor. Meteor is one of many high tier abilities that has many effects to it on top of the animation (both from the meteor and ground effect). Now, when you got a full raid meteor bombing groups, the ping will instantly rise up an easily 500+.

If you go to blackwater blade, there no such thing as lag. Its beautiful. The reason is because BwB is full of lowbies who havent unlocked things like Meteor, Magicka Det, Caltrops, Class passives, etc, which are known to cause a lot of stress on the server.

In essence, ESO PvP is not what they advertised it. Its laggy. Its broken. And it wont be addressed until March (Thieves guild DLC).
