Why do people like master weapons?

They alter an ability and all, but what's the deal with them? I'm sure there's a great explanation as to why they are used, but I probably just haven't seen it.

Master weapons used to be used before v16 now they don't do enough dmg.

    People use maelstrom though.

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

some of them passively give bonus weapon or spell damage along with the addition to the enhanced ability. Most standard builds run 5 of a crafted set and a monster set on the body. that leaves weapons setless usually (exception is dual wield and sword and board)

The added on bonuses are nice and maelstrom weapons/master weapons are generally stronger than what's available.

"My name is Julius Decimus Heraclius, Guildmaster of the Scions of the Sun, Brigadier of the Covenant Army, loyal servant to the High King Emeric. Brother to a betrayed legion, son to a fallen empire. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next." ---Julius Decimus Heraclius (Imperial Templar)

Would be nice to have v16 master weapons though... At least so there would be a choice between master a maelstrom.

This, in addition to this. Master weapons take a great deal of effort to obtain, especially if you want a particular type and trait.

I still use the Master Restoration staff on my sorc, the stam regen on Healing Springs is a nice boost. I don't equip a resto staff for damage anyway.

I'd still use a Master's Bow on my Bow/2h stamDk though if I had it, I believe the weapon damage bonus transfers over to your other bar as it doesn't have the "while equiped" text like the maelstrom bow does and it's activated rather than constant.

Cause they allow to use 5ps+2monsterset+3willpower\agility
And have +200 weapon\spell damage, if we are speaking about maelstrom.

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
    And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
    Ends life, kills laughter.

There are many builds that don't run their weapon as a set pc. For instance, a player may run a 5pc set like hundings, and then monster set like engine guardian. This means that the weapons will not receive a set bonus. Master weapons give extra bonuses in those situations you could not obtain through making your weapon a set pc.
