As a crafter who put time into his trade it would be nice to be able to name your weapons or armor you have crafted

I agree with you, but can you imagine some of the names these weapons would have? ZOS would have a full time job trying to audit all this gear for offensive and dirty names.

If they put filters in place that would prevent some of the more obvious offensive names, then that would be fine. But if someone gets creative with their offensive naming, well, I say well done.

I'd also like to see people's names put in crafted food, similar to how you see who made a glyph. Don't know if crafted potions show the name of the person who crafted em, but if not they should do. Weapons and glyphs do but food and potions don't? Come on now.

    yes please!
& the potions too, the one I make is twice as good but has the same names as the one we loot.

    kinda annoying

people name thier characters and if its a reportable name then it gets reported and removed by the dev. and the person is told to make a new name.
the very same thing can and should happen with armor and weapons just exactly like it did in morrowind, we could name the items we enchanted or created.
i think we could also do this in skyrim.
i dont see any reason why we shouldnt be allowed to do the same here in eso.
    im all for it.
    i vote "Yes"

    Cool idea!

There is already a "signature" at the bottom of the crated item, "created by ....... ". While this isn't the same as you mentioned you can still see who the crafter is.

Maybe signatures (like you implied) could be similar to the title system. It would be earned through certain achievements, while limiting the uniqueness I think it's a cool way to put acheiment hunting into the crafting system. This would also eliminate the need for zos to filter names.

I agree this would be awesome.

But even if I do name my sword something offencive how does it hurt anyone? I am the only one who sees it. And if I sell people can easily report me if I link an item with an offencive name

I doubt it you could enter in code true/false values for names that you want for example if false being the action that applied a block name usage it'll have something like "***"=False compared to something like Demi-Black=True.

They would simply have to put in values for offensive names extending to different languages which requires a simple google.com look and that's all done. It would be difficult if they have to patch in new words for l33t spelling (that's if they allowed numbers in the naming which if they say nope then that'll solve a huge chunk of work.)

If we get a lot of support for it I'm sure ZoS would definitely take a look at it.

You could easily add it if the game supported filters. Just add a filter that tests for crafting items and then use an "IF" command that when is TRUE it stops the name giving and give an error. All they need is a list with banned names. It would probably not be very hard to do.

Also if I wasn't clear. The names doesn't need to be in the code itself. You can create an extra file and put the names in there and have the filter search trough the file.
