Supposedly there is a perception that if you say you hate something, your perceived as being smarter or more in the know. I think this perception was coined by a troll.

If someone just says a blase' comment that the game sucks, I perceive them to be ignorant. If someone says that once they fix Cyrodiil Lag then the game will be better or good then I perceive them as someone who has played the game and wants it to be better. They may not like the game, and that's their choice, but at least they recognize the issue that might be stopping their enjoyment.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I'll +1 to this. I even have "nerdrage' in my UserID and even I stand up to defend ZOS and ESO. There are times where I will throw incredibly harsh criticisms (constructively of course) at ZOS and affiliates, but even then I'm looking out for the continued success of the game, and for the people that support it.

We can't do anything to make those people stop acting upon ignorance, unfortunately. So as someone mentioned before, we just need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the game for the reasons that they don't see or acknowledge.

I stumbled onto IGN’s twitch channel a month or two ago when two guys were streaming ESO after the Orsinium update… They had the IGN banner right behind them.

The guy created a new character, and ported to Orsinium with practically no gear and the bogus level 1 2H sword you get in the beginning.

He put carve and crit rush on his bar, and traveled to Wrothgar and went around light attacking and using carve on all the squirrels, but usually died whenever he ran into any Mobs.

He then followed this up by trying to solo White Gold Tower… Meanwhile they were talking about Christmas shopping and other BS while they got absolutely wrecked. I didn’t hear them bash the game, but they didn’t seem that wild about it either.

It was both painful and hilarious to watch, but it definitely made me question the reviews I read. Consider reviews just someone else’s opinion, but form your own about things you find interesting. You never know how big of a scrub the guy behind the review is…

Actually it deserves at least some hate: No endgame PVE to speak of and broken PVP. Also IC was a failure of DLC.

Still one of the better MMOs I've played. Great Combat and Class system IMO.

EDIT: And PVP still has so much potential :(

I've noticed this on the Xbox Live Community ESO Following Announcement. There was like 150 comments of nothing but haters and it makes me sick on how vulger some of them are. Probably more by now. There was only like 100 comments of people getting excited (myself included). I haven't checked since 4:00pm pst yesterday.

Everyone has MMOs that they like and the first 2 weeks of an MMO's launch are critical to how the population sees it. Most of my friends saw negatives more than positives about ESO so they make fun of me for playing it, but its simple friendly pokes. They understand the game has changed massively since its release, and would give it a try if they didn't have to buy it since money is tight for college students. Then you have those who have their MMO they play, and any other MMO is trash compared to it the elitists if you will. These people played or saw game play at the launch and didn't like it so they condemned the game. These people basically have worthless opinions that aren't worth your time to be upset about. Don't let people get to you when they complain about the game. They haven't played it in ages and thus can't seriously give you an opinion. Unless they can give you actual reasons to not like the game then they are worthless and most likely just looking for a reaction from you or fans. I was this way with Wild Star cause I'm a scumbag.

Yeah one game is a single player game and the others was supposed to be an MMO which started out as p2p. Single player crowd is having non of that.

I'm am so sick to death with the mindless hate that this game gets from so many people. Most who only ever played the open beta or haven't played at all. If you look on some of the Thieves Guild announcement videos on places like Gamespot etc you see the people who don't even play the game make stupid comments about how 'This s*** should be free' and 'People still play this game?' This happens on almost all ESO videos that aren't on Zenimax's channel where people just go to the video just to write some dumb comment.

I'm not sure about others but for some reason I find myself taking almost offence to these comments as they are made by people who have no evidence at all other than 'omg bad game, rip off, money grab'. I will continue to defend this game against these mindless milk drinkers and I would also like to thank all the other people I see defending it in the Youtube comments.

    Epic fail!

Some month after the game was released, they revamped the basics of the entire combat mechanics. You didnt realise the first try was a fail and you did not realize the second attempt was a fail. You did apparently not see their online video chats about it and were unable to analyze what they said properly. If you would have, you'd have understood that the game machines were a big fail with no deeper thought, as could be understood by any player when they tried to find any understanding as to if stamina or magica were used to a skill or not and that you'd be sub par if you focused on a stamina build. You should've seen directly that it was kids that designed the basics of the game and they failed and they tried to sell the revamp as if the entire first version when it went to production was not a failure.

I remember this. Dude was spreading so much misinformation about the game. I stopped watching when he said something along the lines of "the combat system is great because it's just like wow".

That being said, I know I complain about this game because a lot of the things I come across are just absurd. The end-game content in an mmo being a single player event? Is that a joke?

Skyrim was fun, but not as entertaining as ESO. When it comes to DLC I will usually buy all types of games & DLC, but I won't buy DLC or games unless it contains single player content or campaigns. Games like Star Wars Battlefront the newest one or the multiplayer modes of Battlefield or Call Of Duty I won't buy or play, as I don't find any of that kind of gameplay entertaining, in fact I find it outright boring. ESO's PVP I find to be very entertaining and it really switches things up sometimes, however I can't play PVP because I can't use my MIC alot. Text chat I'm really hoping will fix this, so I can communicate without interuptions. Anyways that's my opinion on games and DLC.

The problem I see with companies like this (and mmorpg.com) is that the reviews they post are reviewers who are paid to provide their opinion on a game they play for an extremely limited amount of time while knowing almost nothing about it. Probably two weeks at the most since they need to push out more reviews immediately following it. Will they give a better review than deserved because they are getting paid for it with the hopes of getting future employment from the same developer? Maybe.. maybe not, but this simple fact is the reason why I pay zero attention to them and instead read what actual players are saying about the games.

I use to be a bit like you OP. The road ahead really left a bad taste in my mouth though.

Things we were told when ESO was in the depths of despair. You know around July 2014? Those things were proof to me that ZOS was dedicated and determined to make ESO not only succeed, but also be innovative and more than the run of the mill quest/dungeon/raid grinder.

It turns out those innovative, exciting things that were said were just talk. Talk to keep us hanging on. Talk to keep people like me and you paying and defending ESO. I kinda feel like I was duped. I'm pretty resentful at the moment.

One thing I constantly hear as a loud complaint is class imbalance and how it breaks pvp.

Lets be honest and put away the candies and nuts.

Can there be some perspective? I don't know any mmo with or without pvp that hasn't had constant complaints about class imbalance.

Look at WoW, for instance. Has there been one that hasn't been complained about at one time or another? Pick a class and follow its changes from the beginning and look at changes and the follow-up complaints. There are always those that complain about x being stronger than y. There are always those that play the supposed overpowered class that try and play the role of "noble ownerer" and say "yeah, I'm so over powered but I still play it." The categorical list of complainers goes on and on and is as old as PVP.

In the end, if we really want to be honest, we will see that true class balance is a myth. At least until there is an mmo where everyone is the same class, race, size, have the same connection speed and.... we all just take turns hitting each other with the same stick.
