Stamina Sorcerer and Overload Ultimate Questions

Doing a little theory -crafting, and I have never made a sorcerer build. Had a few questions for any sorcs out there regarding the Overload ultimate.

1) It is my understanding that you can build up to 1000 Ultimate before Overload is maxed out. Say I have 1000 Ultimate built up on Bar 1 with Overload, then I switch bars and use War Horn which costs 250 on Bar 2, and then switch back to Bar 1, will I have zero ultimate left toward Overload or still have 750 Ultimate on that bar?

2) Does Overload do decent damage for a Stamina Sorc? Obviously a Stam Sorc won’t be as heavily invested into Elemental Expert CP as a Magicka Sorc, but does it do decent damage without the CP or is it worthless?

3) How does the Overload bar work?

a. Can you put any skill on that bar that you want? Id assume weapon skills wouldn’t work since your weapon disappears, but could you put retreating maneuvers on it?

b. Can you toggle back and forth between the bar at-will assuming you have at least 75 ultimate? For example, could I have 200 ultimate built up, activate my overload bar to gain access to Streak, Retreating Maneuvers, (whatever is on that bar)etc., and then switch back and forth from my overload bar without actually using any ultimate through light/heavy attacks?

c. Is there any charge time between activating/deactivating Overload, or can you toggle back and forth quickly?

Any input is much appreciated

    1) Once you blow your Ultimate, you blow ALL your ult. 200ult is the same as 1000 ult.

    2) Ults scale with weapon dmg/ stam or spell dmg/magicka. Which ever is higher.
3a) everything other than a weapon skill
    3b) yes
    3c) usual universal cooldown

One other question. When you activate overload your weapons disappear. Are the effects of your weapons from that bar still in effect?

For example, if I have a Maelstrom 2H with 189 weapon damage and swap into overload, does that 189 weapon damage get applied to the attacks?

Or if I have sword and board, do I lose the resistance from my shield in Overload?

I am fairly sure that all weapon passive a are removed, but hopefully someone that's 100% can chime in

No, when you go into overload, all weapon passives are removed as well as weapon damage and enchantments.

You do keep your set bonuses, but not weapon enchants or passives to my knowledge. Most sorcs run 5 julianos, 3 will power, 2 kena, 1-2 torugs (maelstrom staff if you got it). People put overload on their DW bar to get the extra spell damage from torugs pact bonus. The enchant on the maelstrom weapon would not apply (i am 90% sure).

Your overload is essentially a third bar. It will always be whatever it was the last time. This can get a little problematic if you use something like dressing room to swap bars alot, because you cant save distinct overload bars. Activate overload, then you can adjust your overload bar to whatever you want. Make sure you slot any toggle you want to stay active. It will then always be that until you make a change. Changing your other bars wont have any effect.

You can certainly swap back and forth at will. In VMA, i run Dark Conversion on my overload bar. Between rounds, I quickly activate to get magic back. I also keep my execute there because I just don't have room on my main bars. If doing group content, I switch my overload bar to be straight DPS. Just be sure to never completely drain your overload so you have enough alt to activate when you need. There is no cost to activate/deactivate, just to use your light/heavy attacks.
