Is it possible that we can finally get duels added or at least an option to play that PvP mode that has been available at events( like quakecon)

Just promote Cyrodil Daily Towns, theres tons of duel, small scale PVP already without NPCs, if Zen does something to encourage it even more, theres going to be plenty. Ive a feeling most people dont even know those exist, from reading this forum.

If you like ganking go to IC or Cyrodil Daily Tows, removed PVP from Justice System was the right call.

That's doesn't really offer what duels/ custom lobby PvP offers which is the ability to fight your friend in the same faction which the PvP justice system would have allowed.

I think they said that duelling is in the works. (They definitely said PvP arenas were in the works, and I think duelling was mentioned then too.)

@Enodoc You're correct, but I've also heard them say that they want to keep PvP in the PvP zones. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Aye true, but does duelling really count as PvP? It's invite-based rather than persistent, opt-in rather than mandatory, doesn't affect anyone else, and (in some games that I've played) doesn't even kill the loser. I can't remember what the game was, but I've played on the "PvE Server" of a game where you could still duel others.

Of course, they could just stick it in Cyrodiil.

I'm starting to think it may be better if a larger company perhaps procured this title, a company with 4.5k employees rather than 250, a company with an established history of successful mmo's.....please go bankrupt ZOS.....

That's not exactly what the OP meant. I also don't think it's really a good solution, just a Band-Aid that the players have come up with.

Mmm they said no mention off in the Road ahead, so I'm assuming it's scrapped and they just want us to forget.

I am still for bounty hunting...

If you rack up enough crime points, there should be perks to it... great loot, skills, or points, plus an exciting game to play.
Perhaps you are a master thief? Maybe you worked that skill line (in my mind this is additional skill line after you are maxed at 50 to get max advantage), a master thief say has more stealth time, something crazy and worth working the skill line up for... along with other perks better loot period from kills, etc... easier pick pocketing, door unlocking, chests, with some kind of multiplier to make loot awesome...

On the flip side, you decide to join the royal ranks and become a guard, than a bounty hunter, or even one of the guilds becomes bounty hunters... You become a master bounty hunter, say you get a functioning pet (some sort of magical beast that sniffs out your prey based on some kind of scent left from the theft), with your pet you track down these vile scum. You become a master thief hunter and now you can detect stealth from afar... you get better defenses from stealth attacks, your pet can track with quickness, and accuracy being a master thief hunter... there are so many variables that can be worked into this.... maybe the payout is awesome for catching your thief, maybe you get some kind of points for weapons and armor only usable by the bounty hunters guild....

Anyone doing this would know stealing, breaking and entering, pick pockets, murder... will flag them for open PVP.... Wanted posters up statically all over the game? That would be awesome!!!

(see star wars galaxies bounty hunters vs. jedi for a basic reference) I played both sides, hated certain BH, but knew it was a test of my skills, loved hunting jedi of the opposite factions.... this can be done on paper, not sure how the code would work... but it would certainly add a whole other level to the game, especially end game!

    Thoughts... and expand on this??

    And there was much rejoicing.

But there are duel events and small skirmishes in out of the way places in Cyro. I'd recommend hitting the Reddit page or other forums to find out more.

What I find odd is that Ive done tons of Cyrodil Dailies during my days, probably thousands of them, it just fills up my daily Enlightment nicely, but usually Im alone, people whine they want small-scale/duel PVP, but they dont do anything in the game. Duel/small-scale PVP whine is definitely forum-side, nothing to do what happens in the game itself.

And that hits on one of the exact reasons why it's far better that they canned the idea.

Most of the people that wanted the system wanted it for one of two reasons:

    1) To use it to duel their friends

    2) To gank and grief PvE players that made the mistake of getting too high a bounty.

The first is a stupid reason for Justice System PvP, when it would be far better served by just adding consensual dueling and PvP Arenas, and the second embodies everything that's wrong with having PvP in a PvE area, and shouldn't ever exist.

I was 100% against PvP enforcers being added to the Justice System, but I'm 100% in favor of (and would gladly support) adding in more consensual PvP options for players that want to PvP, like dueling and arenas.

I know plenty of PvP players who would like this just for training purposes or to test new builds with their friends. You don't have to discount other people's motiviation out of hand just because you don't personally want it. The fact is you wouldn't be forced to participate. I can't imagine why anyone would have a strong opinion aobut something that no one is forcing them to participate in or even has any impact on them if they don't.

Regarding the bolded part, see my Reason #1. That falls into that category. Duels and Arenas would still allow for players to test builds with their friends, and much more simply than the Justice System PvP would.

Think about it: You want to test a build with your friend. With a simple Duel system, you click on button, challenge him, fight, and get results. To do the same thing without access to a dueling system, and having to use the idiotic Justice PvP enforcers, one of you have to sign up to be an enforcer, the other has to go commit crimes until they get a high enough bounty to be flagged, and then you finally get to fight each other, and hope that no other enforcer shows up to affect your results.

The Justice system PVP enforcers would have been a totally ridiculous way to "test builds and duel with your friends." Just having a real actual dueling system and PvP arenas as this topic suggests are a FAR better solution to these types of requests.

As for "not being forced to participate" in the Justice System version of PvP, there are at least 3 other threads on the topic where you can read many posts on why this isn't a reasonable statement. This thread is supposed to be about the other (far better) options for PvP outside of Cyrodiil.

I can't understand why we have no dueling option in this game. It should be mandatory in all MMOs. Player A wants to duel Player B. Player A clicks F to interact with player B, request duel. Player B accepts or decline at his own discretion. Player B can turn off duelling requests in Interface. Simple, easy.

    Reasons to duel:

    Roleplay.
    In-Guild Contests.
    Testing/Training for PVP.
    etc, etc, etc...

Reasons to not add optional duelling:

    None.

    So...why not?

the only claim I see people use to dismiss duels is "I don't want to see people fighting in the city."
"I don't want people to spam duel invites."

That's easy to address. On the other hand we already have to endure this:

So what's the problem of endure dueling as well.
