District Control Concept and why Imperial City needs it

    I would like to see some pvp objectives in the sewers as well. :) The doors leading to different zones in the sewers could be capture points similar to resources.

    Though if people are going to continue to run in large groups, and they will, they will just steam roll through any objectives and make them moot. Unless capturing a poi took the same amount of time regardless of the group size and once captured the first 8 people through make it and anyone after gets teleported to a random location by Molag Bal. That would be dastardly fun.

    Though I honestly don't believe you can get rid of zergs.

    Didnt they say in one of the ESO Lives prior to its launch that you could 'capture' districts? Why didnt they expand on that?

    That is correct. It was scrapped for an unknown reason, and I'm hoping, since much of it has already been developed, that they may bring it back.

    As much as I'd love to see major additions to the IC (and there are some great ideas posted in this and other threads) I highly doubt this will happen at all.

    ZOS is busy developing new DLCs they can charge money for, adding major machenics to the old ones would limit their resources for this high goal.

    Just look at character re-customization, race balancing or just some minor balancing things they are now always holding back for major updates aka DLC... they aren't even able to push this kind of changes live when they are needed but months later with another DLC and so I am quite sceptical about any major additions to the IC or even "Vanilla PvP" aka Cyrodiil...

    Not if you have instanced games. Capture the Flag, Domination, etc. You queue as a team of 5, 10, 15...w/e. Then the districts become instanced for just those players. Look to WoW, Destiny for examples.

    this sounds like fun for AD and EP... but as a DC player, it would shut out all of the districts for the smurfs...

    Only for a few hours, until the Daedra reclaim the district. And you'd still be able to access all the districts from the sewers.

    I missed this idea before. Having capture points in the sewers as well would be a great idea. Then you could use those capture points as respawn points for a limited number of respawns. Once all the respawns are used up, control is lost.

    All of the closed houses in the IC districts, are those related to respawn points? I personally would love to see more than one capture point, no siege, with the capture points being not all walled up, as well as more opened up buildings: that should give it that city war feel, maneouvre options etc. Maybe Daedra could occasionally attack capture points too, if they're too long in the hands of one faction. But that's comparatively a lot of work compared to the 'UI work' Brian mentioned on ESO Live. Then again, we don't know what assets ZOS may or may not already have ready to implement from their original ideas for IC.

    I put together a mock UI design for the system. Shown here is the map of Imperial City with the towers on it. Tooltips on the tower icons show their status and the status of the adjoining districts. Below that is the UI screen for District Control, modelled on the Emperorship screen.

    A bit of background to the situation:
    • DC's Northwest Tower is being attacked by AD. If AD win the assault, they gain control of Nobles District from DC, as they already control Southwest Tower.
    • DC's North Tower is being assaulted by the Daedra. If they lose this one as well as Northwest Tower, they lose control of Elven Gardens and it goes back to Neutral.
    • AD have recently lost control of South Tower, which was taken by the Daedra. The portal to recapture the tower has not yet opened, and a timer shows how long there is until it does. (That will change to "Portal Open" once the timer has run down.)
