@WindowsNeverDie This is what you do now before I go over what you do you must gather a few items.

    1. Chloroform
    2. Item to use for a gag e.g. Sock ball
    3. Rope
    4. Tape for eyes to remain open
    5. a compfy chair to tie said friend together
    6. lastly a car to kidnap said friend in

This will make sure your friend plays said game I should mention getting a pitch fork would aid in getting him/her to consider playing; Good luck!

It happens. The game is more enjoyable if you have a friend or family member. My sister and I started when the game went subscriber-less back in April of 2015, and we'd been playing steady since then. There were some disruptions, as we both have different gaming preferences (we're have strong explorer/achiever types, but I also have a strong social need, whereas she does not, so I spend a lot of time roleplaying), but we basically won't progress in the game unless we do it together.

Ours is a unique situation, though. You'll probably want to look into a good guild that suits your playstyle needs -- be it Explorer, Achiever, Social, or Killer -- and the amount of time you can dedicate (i.e. casual or otherwise).

ZOS recently had a "bring a friend in for a free weekend" thing, and I did just that with a friend of mine. She really liked it, and she'd love to know the story, but she doesn't want to commit the time necessary to get through all of the content. And I respect that. I had also purchased the game for friends of mine who ended up not playing after they tried it -- again, they had other time commitments. Such is how it goes. In those cases, the time they spent on EVE Online or Neverwinter or Real Life took priority over starting something new from scratch.

On the plus side, between them, second accounts, and very trusted friends, my sister and I both have our own storage guilds with 500 item slots... And I hear that Real Life MMO is totally pay to win...

Your best bet, I think, is to respect that sometimes even the best of friends just find different things to do with their time, and that time isn't always going to be spent together. That doesn't mean you can't find other friends with common interests that you can share your time with -- and doing so doesn't mean you have to lock your friend out. Just talk about the neat things you've been doing in ESO that you had fun with, and let him talk about the neat things he's doing in his MMO of choice that he's having fun with. You might find some interesting contrasts between the two sets of experiences that creates enriching dialog. :)

You're his friend but you want to force him away from a game he likes to come over to you on a game that you like ?
    ... define "friends" maybe ?
    https://youtu.be/LSGl3d4KOMk

    .

I want that he gives the game a try. I dont want that he lea es a game he likes! I bought the game HE likes that we can play it together and i payed him the money for ESO that he can try it out! I dont force him away I just want that he gives this game a chance because he would like it. And if not it wont be worse because at least he gave the game a try.

Just an idea which came to mind this moment - maybe he just wants to be left alone for a change. You might be too much around him and pester him with things. Males sometimes like to be left alone and do things on their very own. Let him be like he is, or your friendship or relationship will get in trouble.

I'm afraid I'm not gonna blame your friend or try to convince to come to this game as I wouldn't say the game is worth coming to at this point, leave it a few months to let them fix everything, then I might a have a reason or two. Black Desert looks awesome.

P.S: I bet he watches Angry Joe on YT.

Well Angry Joe made very valid points about ESO at the time where this was released. But ESO has changed to the better and there are not many videos on youtube which are pointing this out.

In some ways I'm glad I waited, and others I wish I hadn't. But ultimately, yeah, between stories I've heard vs. when I started back in April, it's a huge difference. And it's encouraging to see that, as I've sunk time in money into games that rapidly (as in, within the first quarter) became painfully obvious cashgrabs or were just poorly mishandled at the expense of their player base.

Perfection shouldn't be expected, of course. Heck, what works and what doesn't is constantly shifting and evolving anyway, and an MMO has to adapt to remain viable. But I'm content.

Haha, let me guess, you played Archeage - that is a painfally obviscious cash grab with the most incompetent publisher who gives a damn about it's player base as long as cash is rolling in.

It is not about "being tired about" anyone here. Just give him more space, he just might want to do something without you sometimes.

Once we get to group content he bails on me cus he dont group with people he doesnt know in RL.

Wow, this is exactly what happened between me and one of my RL friends who I used to game with religiously. Haven't played with him since 2 weeks after ESO launched on consoles. For some reason, my friend was also strongly against grouping with anyone he didn't know in RL.

It's a real shame too, because he lives on the west coast now, while I'm still back on the east coast. Gaming was how we kept in touch, now it's just an occasional text once in a while.

IMO you are missing the point. Sounds like a really lopsided relationship. If he won't go for an even trade (We do some of what you want and we do some of what I want) find new friends. If he is always "right" and you are always the one begging and buying stuff you need friends who appreciate you more.

Even nerds like us can find new friends.

Actually, no. Working backwards, my previous MMO games were Neverwinter, Allods Online, and before that I think MapleStory with a bit of Mabinogi mixed in. Other touch-and-go MMOs I've tried were Rubies of Eventide (R.I.P.) and EVE Online (enjoyable, but requires subscription), but those weren't bad MMOs, just ones I fell out of touch with. There's also that one MMOFPS I played... something with jetpacks... *searches* Firefall. That was fun, but other games took precedence.

The worst of the bunch have to be Neverwinter, Allods Online, and MapleStory. I enjoyed MapleStory for the longest time, but the grind just killed it for me (Seriously, they want me to collect how many thousands of alien tentacles to complete this questline??). Allods Online spiked the difficulty for solo play, making it impossible, and got into some really sleasy money-grubbing as it was passed from publisher to publisher. And Neverwinter... well... *sigh* I went in as an orc fan for the half-orcs. I left as soon as ESO went subscriber-less because of... well... Everything. Endless gold farm spam, sleasy money grabs, questionable publisher politics... the game just started feeling soulless.

Like, you know the mind-shriven in Coldharbor? Playing Neverwinter started making me feel like THAT.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, though, so if you wanna IM me about Happy and/or Horrible MMO Experiences, Lysette, I'm game. :)

I managed to get two of my RL friends to play this game. It took some time, but I finally convinced them by showing videos of the game that would represent the style of gameplay they would like to play (they like rogue/stealth type characters). Also, how dynamic and fun was the combat, how you didn't need to spend 63268468234 hours of your time grinding stuff and I told them the future plans for justice system, imperial city, etc. But then, ZOS started putting more grind in this game and pvp lag ruined all the fun of the combat we had, so they are both gone now.

But by the way you described your friend, I don't think he will change his mind until you stop talking about ESO to him lol. I would just keep playing ESO while he plays his stuff and maybe someday when he feels bored, he might think about downloading and giving it a try.
