They could just close down the forums.THEN where would all the people who whine and yowl about every darn thing in this game be? Who would they [snip] to? Who would they argue with if there was no forum anymore? If they think this place has become too toxic,they could do just that,and carry on with their developing without all the gnashing of teeth,PvPers vs Pvers,etc. No more having to put up with everyone's screaming at them for not giving us this or that.
Just because there is a forum doesnt mean there has to be.

This actually happened with a game I played years ago.

The official forum got to be too much work and too negative, so it was shut down. Players set up a fan forum, some of the developers decided to post on there and everything carried on with basically no changes.

All what ongoing whining is achieving is, that the moderators just scan the text for inappropriate words and that's it basically. Who would want to read and put up with it over and over again?- You can just let go on this, they won't read it the 100th or 1000th time. They know the lag is bad and if they would have a solution, they would have done it already. But as it seems, the issue is a bit more complex to solve and so it will take some more time - how much cannot be said, for that they would have to know already how to fix it. But they cannot do that on their own, you have to change your behavior as well, if this issue of lag is supposed to be fixed. You have to stay away from zergs - as long as you do that, it will not go away.

Actually there's several instances of the devs going to reddit for input instead of the official forums. Is it really that strange though that the community here gets worse and worse? It's frustration due to the state of the game. We all want to love it but currently its really damn hard to do so..

I think the problem is they've sacked or otherwise lost too many staff, particularly founding devs, and have thus lost the 'road map' for their game. It seems a bit like the blind leading the blind of late.

And to the ridiculous cheer squad who ironically seem to be even more rabidly negative in response to any negativity here; ZOS is a billion dollar business, not your BFF, so stop naively defending them as if they are. Furthermore, we are paying customers, many of us for 2 years and mucho $. As such we are perfectly within our rights to complain about the plethora of issues and worrying direction the game is taking.

Oh god TC give it a rest... If everyone was like you this game wouldn't of made it this far, and its because of legitimate complaining that this game is (slowly) getting better... Its the people who stick there head in the ground and say "wow, this is some great dirt" that bring it down. just in case you forgot about the point of forums it is to discuss this game, including its problems, its many many problems... And as humans some would disagree with what others say, its natural, dont be scared of it, discussion helps us all... If you don't like it you could... You know... Maybe not use the forums?

You're confusing constructive criticism (the many threads pointing at bugs and offering possible solutions) and endless [snip] by the PvP children (or manchildren), who will complain to the end of times about lag and zergs but every single time I go to PvP and try to do some solo or duo stuff I will be suddenly surrounded by 40+ people in gigantic balls spamming the same skills over and over (in all alliances! This is not us vs them!).

The fastest way to reduce lag in PvP until ZOS fins the silver bullet? STOP the abuse of big groups + synchronized skills, you can have fun, meaningful PvP with big groups if you're not all hugging each other and using the same skill all at the same time.

ZOS can't fix players' behavior. As soon as they release a workaround for the current situation players will find another way to provoke lag and exploit the hell out of it.

At what point did I say to get rid of anything? Where did I tell anyone to "just do away" with anything? I simply said what would ZOS do if,...
I got good replies like Reddit. Good one,as there is a thriving community there. Personally,I wouldnt be very happy if they did away with these forums.They can be quite entertaining,and also,at times,informative.Sometimes it does get overly toxic though.
