So is the new "cross faction" grouping only in the LFG?

So X-Box and I assume PS4 get a update notice that there is new cross faction grouping.. yet when we tried to cross faction group with alt toons to do some dungeons we get the "can't group with people from another faction" messages.. so is it not working or is it only in random PUGs in the LFG system that it cross factions groups?

Correct. you can only currently cross-faction using Group Finder. And even then, I'm pretty sure it's a matter of chance if you are grouped with another alliance. I think it's only happened to me once.

If consoles are just getting the improved Group Finder, you might be interested in using it to scale your group UP instead of scaling down. Say you want to group a mixed group of v1, v11, and 2 v16. To accommodate the v1, you usually make them lead and scale the dungeon to v1. However, if you start your group, but leave out the 4th, then start Group Finder, and then invite the 4th, Group FInder will scale everyone to v16 and close. By doing this, all party members get loot scaled to their level, rather than all loot scaling to the lowest level.

So far the answer is yes. Only using the tools.

They said a while ago that they would like to expand it. Apparently this is tricky for coding purposes.

What we normally do is have everyone use the finder at the same time to form a group then ask random person to leave. Kinda rude I guess, but it is what it is.

Well that's to bad.. as I have friends playing alts on other factions and when I read that it was cross faction grouping for dungeons I was thinking well this is great as we don't have log off our mains to do group dungeons... oh wells...

You can group with your friends though, it's just kind of clunky. Gotta start the search at the same time and, as been pointed out above, just ask someone to leave if you end up with a random instead of your friend. Seems to work nearly flawlessly if you have a group of 3 and are looking for a tank and your friend on his alt queues as a tank though(doesn't mean he has to tank, just set his role to one)

Well we tried this.. oddly though.. We qued at the same time.. I'm was vet 3 he was vet 2, he got in a group in 20 mins.. I was in que for 2 hours before I got a group.... next day we did the same thing again.. He was in que for 30 mins got a group.. I was in que for 1 1/2 hours before I got a group... something is totally wonky with the group system.. oh he is DF I'm AD if wondering and we were both queing for the same dungon and both que as dps only.

I haven't tried the system with just 2 people, only 3+1 or a few times 2+1/2, both times missing people queued as tanks/healers(both times it also wasn't what they actually did lol). However in my experience if you can't group up in 2-3 minutes, cancel it and try again. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you:/
