So when VR goes away, what happens with armor/equip?

Right now we have level 50 armor and VR16 armor. When the VR ranks go away we'll have level 50 armor for those that just reached lvl 50; and level 50 armor for those with a lot of CP? Or will there be lvl 50/400CP armor? Or will it be lvl 50 armor whose stats just go up the more CP you have?

Have they said how this is going to work?

My understanding is, you'll have a new tier of VR armor for every 10 CP you've got, up to 160, when the VR16 armor is available, and then it stops.

So, if you've got 160 CP, then you'll have access to the VR16 armor.

I've also seen comments saying, if you're at V16, but have less than 160 CP when they transition occurs, you'd be comped those additional CP. Though, I don't know if that's actually true or not.

Yes, this is what the devs have told us so far.

@starkerealm You are correct. Matt also mentioned during this ESO Live that they are ensuring that when this change happens, no one will lose the ability to do/wear something. Those CP numbers and the "give people CP so they can wear what they already own" was taken from a post by Rich Lambert on these forums, as we know though, that could change. In that same post he suggested how they "might" give out the extra attribute points, although a newer post have confirmed they changed how that would happen.

Don't worry, they will ensure that if you are VR16 now wearing VR16 armor, when VR goes away, you will still be able to wear it. It appears the gear past level 50 will be "X CP" gear. Aka you need X CP to wear it.

What I'd like to see is armor/weapons/jewelry that is tailored to the level of your various skill tree line. Like, say, a dual wield jewelry set that you can only wear at level 50 of the dual wield line. Heavy armor sets that are only wearable at levels 40 or 50. That seems to me to be the easiest way to deal with all this. If you can get to VR16 without maxing out your preferred skill lines, you're doing something wrong. But every toon I've ever rolled has never hit level 50 on all their skill lines when it hit VR1. So there's still room to grow.

Certain sets could even require multiple skill lines at 50: one weapon, one armor, and one class skill to wear what was VR15 and 16 armor, for instance. Poke holes in this all you like. I haven't thought it through at all. But it might make for some tailored armor sets, too. Say a heavy armor/resto staff/restoring wrath set for templars. Light armor/destro staff/dark magic set for sorcs, etc. Or jewelry sets that complemented specific skill lines.
Now let's dig on the Dirt Mound... (never gonna get it, never gonna get it, NEEEEver gonna get it, never gonna it)

So if you have 10 CP earned you'll be able to wear the equivalent of VR2 (since VR1 is level 50)?

So there will be a 10CP armor, 20CP armor, 30CP armor, etc.?

So instead of killing stuff to earn XP after level 50 to get to the next armor level, you kill stuff to earn CP after level 50 to get to the next armor level... ?...?

That's what they are thinking. As always though that could always change. The benefit of that over VR is that CP is account wide. Meaning that when you play one max level (50) character, ALL my characters are levelling instead of just that one.

Based on ESO Live, they are trying to make sure that you lose nothing with the removal of VR.

People whose mains are low VR will likely get access to gear tiers they couldn't previously access with the fast CP accumulation now that there is the catchup system.

    This is also the flaw.

Once a player hits 160 CP, on any alts, they now jump from level 49 gear to the max gear; all intermediary gear will be pointless. This means the only demand for VR2-VR15 equivalent gear will be from people on their very first 50s; the market will deop out completely.

No, imo, if they go with CP and remove VR; they need to remove vertical gear progression as well, similar to D3's end game gear strategy.

Everyone just grinds to v16 on alts right now anyway. After the change the mid-tier mats will be useful to people on their first vet and mostly useless to everyone else, pretty much how it is now.
