VET Level Removal - I'm confused!

I understand that the plan is that after level 50, you are just a "vet". No levels.

So, what happens to all the "Vet" levels for mats, gear, crafting, etc.? Certainly those can't just disappear! What happens to my void stone? My VR6 Helmet, etc.

Currently not finalised, but the idea is that gear will require a certain number of CPs. So VR6 mats/gear/crafting will convert to 60-CP gear. Personally though, I would like to see some gear progression which uses the mats in different ways, and doesn't tie gear into a CP requirement. (Since one of the purposes of removing VRs was supposed to be to get rid of some restrictions.)

It would be nice if we could use any materials to make our armors, just use more of them to make higher level stuff.

However, not much has been talked about from the devs regarding gear and cooking/potions. So, we don't know really what they are going to do with everything.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Thanks guys!

If it is as you expect, that would seem to me to destroy all mats between lvl50 and max (but not max). Everyone with a VR16 character would no longer need or use these mats/gear. Only new plays who are progressing for the first time between lvl 50 and X Champion points would.

This would seem to be a very destructive change to the economy.

I'm hoping they effectively scale up some of the older vr12-vr14 gear too, beyond just master weapons. I foresee a lot of interesting and diverse builds if they brought some of the previous endgame sets to the current endgame.

It sounds like everything will remain exactly as it is, but all items/gear will be based on Champion rank rather than veteran rank.

The best thing about this change is that once you get a character to level 50, he/she is just as powerful as your highest level character and could equip all the same gear. I'm really looking forward to this new alt-friendly system!

I understand that, and its cool in that I no longer have to grind VET 1 to 16; BUT it destroys all the mats, recipes, armor sets, etc. between lvl 50 and VR16 for the overwhelming player base that already HAS a VR16 ALT.

    Right?

They will probably leave it as is and tie it to CP progression while adding more later on tied to higher CP numbers.

It makes sense since it doesn't destroy the economy and allows them to tie it to the dynamic resource nodes in IC, Orsinium and future DLC since they're now capping CP gain.

Same way they'll likely leave the base game progression as is (needing to complete silver to get to gold) but make all future DLC accessible from 1 to 50.

Actually, I believe this was answered.

    Basically, the Devs have basically said;

The reason why there are different gear levels and materials is to stop people from making a god set and keeping it. With new patches there will always be stronger gear to ensure that we have to play to stay on top.

I get it, it's annoying, but I get it.. Kinda. It basically means that some of your work becomes pointless everytime new dlc is released.

Like Desyiny for example. I bought destiny, and I'll wait until its final form is sold in however many years before playing and wasting my time. Atleast ESO is fun to play and has plenty of story.

I like that old VR 16 gear sounds like it can be used way sooner post vet removal. You gain CP very fast right after 50 so you catch up to gear quickly as well.

I am sad though that Cadwell silver and gold may still be remaining. It is a major reason why I do not want to play the game or endure it again. Taking out linear progression should be the priority with adjustments to this game and I don't think ZOS is willing to revamp older systems much.

Every time I want to make an alt I am reminded of the PAIN IN THE AR$E leveling process of 50 levels of noob zone and months of ranking a horse ... then I stop making it.

They are remaining, as there's no need to take away existing content. But the rumour is that the access restrictions will be reduced, so for example you may not have to do Silver before Gold, and you could instead do them in parallel. Or, since you'll no longer need the 10 VRs they give to be able to do Craglorn/Cyrodiil/Trials, you could choose to not do them at all.

im surprised this is confusing people.. I see it as everything is converted to cps... so easy to get..

say a material used for making vet 1-3 armor? now it it is a material for cp req. 0-20 armour... (since you have nothing once you hit 50 it would start at 0 cp..) although since they said 160 cp would be equivalent of vet 16.. i suppose you will get 10 off the bat sooo 10-30 armour req...

really not seeing whats being hard to wrap around here..

One of the few things that confuse me about this is.. what level/rank (CPs??) will the mobs/NPCs have? ---
    oO

Edit: I knew I forgot something:
What happens to the skillpoints we got from VR1 to VR16? Will they be eliminated? Because.. Matt only mentioned the "other ways" go get skillpoints (skyshards and the like) with the new system, not the current/previous one. So I really don't think we can keep them...
