Well, I think they had reason to be concerned. I've made posts in the past about the danger of class passives becoming unfairly powerful, the more alternate skill lines they add to the game. I'm still hopeful they add something to these skill lines, but its clear they need to deal with the underlying framework first. Its already got a share of problems.

really what other skills can you have in the game.

    CC
    Single target
    AoE
    execute
    purge
    buff
    heal
Kinda run out of things after that

I challenge you to come up with a new skill that isn't OP, isn't worthless, and isn't already in the game.

I'll probably be fine without added skill lines. I was somewhat intrigued by the idea of additional skills, but I'd sooner see the content they do choose to implement be fun and replayable.

Just look through skill lists from other games. I suggest starting with the hundreds of skills from GW1.

Not being unrealistic but, DLC doesn't usually add skill lines, base game updates do but there's been not talk about a new skill line so I wasn't expecting it. Maybe I just overlooked a lot of talk.

I would have really liked to see a cloak/silence set of skills between DB and TG. This would have afforded non Nightblades the ability to stealth as well, in the same way people can get a poor man's Mirage via Shuffle, for instance, or the Rune from Fighters guild, or the purge from alliance war.

It might also have been nice to see something added for poison skills, flinging shuriken, perhaps a garotte skill (rearward cc/execute only), and an improvement to alchemy to include poisons and poison resistance.

So in some ways yes it is a disappointment, though not unexpected given the current state of class passives. ZoS has its work cut out for them.

As far as new gear goes: I never find new gear exciting in these games. Just new experiences and gameplay interest me - I can't be the only one that feels this way, but I realize a lot of MMO'ers love the gear hamster-wheel.

This is partly an RPG and an Elder Scrolls game. No Thieves Guild / Nocturnal or Dark Brotherhood / Sithis, Night Mother active skills is very strange.

But whatever, it's not like I have to pay for Thieves Guild with 105 days left of ESO Plus, I doubt the passives will be as exciting as what active skills would be. Maybe Spellcrafting will make up for it, providing it comes in 2018 or sooner.

I'm pretty sure this isn't bad.

They announced the 'class' and 'skill' rebalance for the begining of the year (i think Q2) - let them get that first (and its bugs) - and then they might add new skill lines.

But adding a new skill line in the middle of the implementation of a global rebalance is a bad idea. So this really is not bad.

Clockwork city, Mephala's Realm, Murkmire(?)... they don't have to announce new DLCs every ESO Live, they want us to focus on the next one instead of what's coming in half a year or more, that's just good business.

Oddly enough there appeared to be shots from an area that looked like it could have been Murkmire before the show in the music thing they play beforehand.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and before Buy to Play was announced, they said the new guilds would have their own skill lines. Once B2P was announced, then they said you'd be able to join the guilds, even if you didn't have the DLC, but wouldn't be able to do the guild questlines unless you were subbed or had the DLC. Which, suggested the skill lines were still a thing. Now, the skill lines are out, which suggests that you just wouldn't be able to join those factions at all as a non-sub.

Players expected it simply because mage guild and fighters guild are as much of a staple to TES games as theives guild is and to a lesser extent, the dark brotherhood. And since mage a fighters have a skill line here, it was expected that these 2 new guilds would as well.

However this is an mmo and adding new skills into an mmo especially with the type character build freedom this game has, would be a monumental undertaking as far as balance is concerned. I can see where they are coming from.

Also important to note is that guild skill line progression is intrinsically tied to the guild content. Granted I could think if a few activities that are in the game as of now that could naturally increase thieves guild rank, but primarily you need to do content tied directly to the guild to progress which means if you do not purchase the dlc/update, you are locked out of skills wich would set a pretty nasty precedent.

I'm a bit disappointed by this, but I can understand why ZOS doesn't want to do this:

    1. Balance
In normal TES games, the TG and the DB cater to the stealthy char we make, both violent sneaks (DB) and non-violent ones (TG). In ESO, the sneak class here is the NB

Have you guys ever seen a thread train of "I hate NB"? If the DB gets assassination/ganking skills, NB would have extra skills to play along with. Or extra stealth skills from TG?

WW might not have it easy either if the DB gets Poison based skills since they alrdy have to deal with FG skills.

All in all, I think it's best to not add such skills and skill lines yet. First ZOS has to focus on Templar fixing (urgent!) as well as reviewing the other classes and the changes they are gonna make to the CP (Physical Damage star) before adding new things.

And if they add new skills: extra weapons, weapon ultimates (for Stamina users) and class morphs should be a priority then.

    2. P2W?
What about the ppl who don't have the DLC or can't afford it?

If they cannot get access to the same amount of skills that Subs or ppl who bought the DLC have, then they'll be forced to eventually buy the DLC in order to stand a chance in PvE & PvP

    New skills should be F2P

And adding skill lines for these 2 guilds without experiencing the guilds or their stories behind it isn't an option either. How can you unlock skills and lvl them without being a part of the guild?

    I have spoken
