Disappointed by the lack of support for the Guilds and some Common Issues (XB1)

Let me start of by saying that, the entire economic system in this game is founded on the ability to create, manage, and hire a guild trader. Console players do not have options to get add-ons to make the game more fluid by providing tools that the developers have not yet included in the game. So why have the issues that have been plaguing console gamers not received more attention?

First let’s address the failed updates: There is no PTS for the xbox, so I understand that every time there is an update, there is the possibility that something might happen that shouldn’t. A graphic issue about “flickering grass” is NOT a huge problem, but having all prices disappear from the guild traders IS a HUGE problem. Although this issue did get fixed, it took over a month to push the update through. I understand that this is mostly the fault of how xbox conducts the patch and that the process to get a game update through takes a long time. However, this is something that should not have happened in the first place. On that note, there are still issues that have not been addressed that have been present since launch day. Although the friends list is not working, the latest update for the Xbox broke the entire roster system. Since the updates take about a month to push through, I just hope that the developers take some more time to make sure that no more game breaking updates slip through.

—The ruined roster system: First, let me say that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old roster system that used pages with the triggers. Why did this have to change? Were there really so many people complaining about this roster system that it was on the priority list to change? So why change - and break - something that was perfectly functional? Now, it is impossible to use the roster system entirely! Let’s look at the new roster system:
*If you kick someone from the guild, it scrolls to the top and you lose your place.
*If someone logs on/offline, the roster scrolls to the top.
*If you are scrolling through a guild that is 500 members long, chances are that you
will have to start over at some point because someone logs on/off.
*You no longer have the ability to scroll through people in groups to make scrolling faster.
*The triggers are useless.
This makes it almost impossible to manage the rosters - not to mention that if you don't know how to spell a person’s alphanumeric gamertag, then you can’t just scroll down and find it. This would not be a terrible interface if it didn't scroll to the top every time, and if it was possible to scroll through a page by using the triggers. This game is no longer a pay-to-play model; as such, there is no need to take up endless amounts of time by not making things more convenient for the players.

1 —How is promoting/demoting players spamming? I am tried of getting disconnected because I promoted or demoted too many people too quickly. There is no message that appears on the individual’s screen that they have been promoted or demoted. This is not something that should be considered spamming. It would be like having to pay your employees one at a time and one every minute so that it doesn't overwhelm the system. On that note, why is there no ability to do mass promotions and demotions? This is something that is crucial to a company and should be a tool that guild masters can use to better manage their guilds.

2 —No reply to mail option: This just baffles me! How is this not in the game? This is not a console specific problem! After over a year, this is still absent on the PC, as well. This is the equivalent of having to re-type an email address from all incoming mail. Why is the ability for the game to copy and paste the gamertag into the game so difficult from the incoming mail page when this is achievable from the guild roster?

3 —Mass messaging: I understand that the developers are trying to limit spamming, but having the ability to message all members of a certain rank or just a group of guild members should be an option for a guild master or an officer. Imagine having to send the same memo to all of your employees, except you are unable to copy and paste, and you have to send each message individually! This is about efficiency, and when someone joins your guild, they are accepting the rules that come with your guild. If they don't like the rules or the fact that the guild master sends too many messages, then they can leave.

4 —Destroying items: Although I am somewhat happy with the current system, I still don't understand why it wouldn't have been simpler to make the destroy option a “press x to confirm” screen. This seems like an extremely easy fix, yet for some reason, it has taken three different updates to address the issue of people splitting stacks and accidentally destroying the items at the end because it would default to destroy when there was no more room, or when you were down to the last item.

5 —Splitting stacks: This is a simple fix. I would really like to see the ability to go in increments of 10 with the left and right bumpers.

6 —The map: On the console, the map scrolling is terrible! Especially in Cyrodiil! Having to use the left trigger and hold it for a good 15 seconds to zoom out is unnecessary. Once again, the use of the left and right bumpers here would simplify this and improve it greatly.

7 — [FIXED] Guild trader filtering: I would personally like to see the ability to filter with more specific criteria on the traders. Until recently, it was impossible to filter out trophies. Minimally, I would like to see the bug where the last search option disappears. If you access a guild trader and you select, say, Crafting>Blacksmithing>Tempers, and then you switch over to Crafting>Clothing>Tempers, it will make the last entry disappear and you cannot search any of the clothing items because the list of search options under blacksmithing are longer than the list of search options under clothing (since there are no weapon traits). To fix this, one has to back out of the trader, or go back to blacksmithing, and search under motifs before they switch to clothing.

8 —Last seen online: There is nothing worse than having someone take up a spot in the guild that has been sitting there for over a month and not having the option to see that they have been offline for over 2 months. This is a feature that Xbox Live has had since the Xbox 360 launched in 2005, so why is it not in this game? This decade-old feature is something that the game desperately needs! If someone doesn't want you to know when they were last online, then they simply change their status to offline and it will count that as the last time they were online. Even though the status screen sorts people by the last time they were online, some people have their status glitched offline and cannot appear online anymore, and there is also no time stamp. The lack of this feature was actually the catalyst that caused the majority of all guilds, especially on the xbox to require weekly fees from their members, just so that they can see who is online and who isn't.

9 --Contingencies/ "If-This, Then-That": This would be a useful tool for guild masters to use in the guilds, and it has many applications. For instance if a player deposits 10k to the guild bank, they will automatically be promoted to a set rank in the command. Same thing can be applied with online status. If a player has not been online in X amount of days, they will be automatically removed from the guild or demoted to a rank that the guild master can then filter through to kick them. If a player has made X amount of gold in sales they will be promoted to a rank. This is a great way to take the over encumbering tasks that a guild master has to do and automate most of it, thus allowing the guild master to spend more time socializing and improving the guild through the guild chats and community interactions.

10 —The UI ERROR on bidding!!! This is an issue that has been persistent since launch, and it has not been fixed! Although this is an issue that only effects 0.01% of the players, this small percentage is critical to the rest of the players having the ability to sell things. Players have had to go to extreme measures to get a work-around constructed by creating a new account to be the guild master, just so that they can keep bidding. This issue has been documented in the forums since the second month after launch, and the only solution that was posted had no improvement on the situation.

Overall, the game has come a long way since if first came out almost 2 years ago, but there are still hurdles to get over. I saw that there are some better guild management options coming later this year, according to the update about what is coming this year. I just really hope that there is some consideration put into the issues I have listed here. I also hope that more care is taken when these updates are pushed through. I know I am not the only one that feels this way. This is not just about making the game better; this is about making the time that guild masters put into the game worth it to them. If there are too many obstacles for them to overcome and too much work in running the guilds, then they will eventually stop focusing on their responsibilities as guild masters. It isn't the guild master that will get the worst part of it, it is the 499 other members that will have a poor experience in the game. In the end, it is the guild masters and the guilds that keep the majority of the game flowing, especially on the console where zone wide chat is not an option yet. I know that there are other guild masters out there, like me, that still do everything they can to keep the guilds running. However, a little more guild support and some better guild management options would go a long way to making everyone’s experience better in the game.

Lastly, a big thank you to all the developers that work endlessly to make the game better, and I look forward with great anticipation to the things coming this year to Elder Scrolls.

All of these points are accurate and, as a GM on console myself, I can attest to the fact that there is zero support given for guildmasters. I even had one of my support tickets regarding an accidental bid (due to their broken system and UI errors) met with unprofessional responses and outright lies. They claimed there was no system in place to help me after another guild had gotten the same issue resolved previously.

The roster itself had me considering giving up on running guilds altogether. I know of several GMs who did just that. Zenimax needs to understand that trading, trials, dungeons and PvP guilds are the backbone of this game and its lifespan is quite limited if they continue to ignore our issues and break our game. This thread needs an official response.

If ZOS_GinaBruno can find time to post in a selfie thread then certainly we can get some much needed help with keeping their game alive.

I fully agree with this, I love the game it's awesome. But some serious improvements are needed to assist GM's.

I agree with this post. I have a lot of guild members who constantly tell me they play because of the guild. As a GM it would be nice to see changes made to better our convenience with guild matters to ultimately keep the other 499 happy. We (GMs) put a lot of time into running and maintaining a guild especially a full roster guild and knowing we are heard on some of these matters would benefit alot of players as we assist the ESO population to keep flowing. Truthfully, I feel developers could possibly benefit from hearing out GMs in the game as we have the hours logged and experience to aid in changes made. However, regardless of what changes come in the future we all appreciate the game that was built and how it continues to grow.

This post is a great starting point of what ZOS needs to address in making guilds easier to manage as they stated in their "The Year Ahead" post. I'm a console player so I don't know how it is on PC but it's unbelievable to me that ZOS would release such a broken guild roster especially considering how long it takes to patch consoles and the fact that the guild roster WAS NOT BROKEN in the first place.

When it comes to MMO's, a lot of people, including myself, after a certain amount of time only stick around for their guilds and/or their friends. I commend the developers for focusing on the social aspect of the game this year as it's a smart move but these issues need to be worked out and smoothed over in order to give us users the best experience possible, which I'm assuming is the developer's goal. At the very least these issues need to be acknowledged. I for one am much more concerned about making sure I am actually able to bid on a guild trader or removing inactive guild members from my guild without pulling my hair out than I am concerned about what color my shield is or what hot item of the week ZOS is pushing in the crown store.

It's tiresome always having to find a workaround for the problems that ZOS presents us guildees. It shouldn't be our job to fix ESO's problems.

At first, I was genuinely interested in what you had to say, and was going to read your whole essay, until I actually started reading it. Your first sentence is inaccurate. Many incredibly wealthy players have never even used a trader before. Most of my friends and guildmates have membership to multiple trade guilds, and actually sell more on their own. Console players never have, and never will have addon support. That is the nature of playing on a console, hence why so many of us chose to play on PC instead. And lastly, there are issues plaguing everyone, on every platform, in every type of content. ZOS is, albeit incredibly slow, working on it. The world doesn't revolve just around console players.

Should start a thread of my own and call it "disappointed at lack of open-mindedness and mature, rational thinking among players in the community."

I do not manage a guild, but I'm sure GMs have a tall task.
The amount of time I spend fiddling around the xb1 guild menus is a pain.
I don't want to know how much work GMs have to put in.
That said, I thank all GMs for their efforts!

Such irony in a reply that speaks of mature and rational thinking. Are you suggesting that a post about issues plaguing console UI and guild system to encompass every issue, on every platform, effecting every player, in every type of content? And not to mention that you believe everyone has the ability to choose to play on PC. While I enjoy many single-player games on my PC I would be a lonely camper playing ESO on anything but my xbox as that's where all my friends and family are able to game.

Many incredibly wealthy players have and do use traders regularly, including myself. And in no way do people like myself think that the world revolves around console players. We are merely hoping that issues like these, that we have deal with while simultaneously trying to manage a 500 person guild, are given the proper attention. Something that is an issue in itself as your dismissing reply is a prime example.

First off, unless you are speaking to the, "soon" comments, you may be right. But right now they have stated that they DO intend to give console players UIs etc...

Second, guilds are imperative, if you have tons of gold or not doesn't come into this. The majority of players have limited time and gold and will find running around trying to sell a stack of nightwood impossible. For players like myself guilds are the only way to make large amounts of gold. If we had a central trading area or a world trader then this wouldn't be such an issue.

Next, no the world doesn't revolve around console, we aren't saying it should, but does the world have to revolve around us to get what OP mentioned? I doubt it.

I will end with:I shall no longer trust any announcement made until it is actually implemented, the PvP justice system has completely destroyed the illusion of "coming soon" or "coming ever"

Although there may be a possibility that someone has "never" sold or even purchased anything from a guild trader, there is 100% guarantee that you are completely oblivious to just how much the in game zone prices are governed by the guild traders that do, in fact, set the foundation for the economy in the game. Even if you have a player that has never sold or even purchased an item from the trader, if they so much as looked at a trader, they have been influenced but the guild traders. On the PC, even if you are in a guild that has a store and you don't sell anything but you have a price tracker or master merchant add on, you are influenced by the prices. Even if all you do is trade in zone chat you are influenced by the prices. To say that someone has become wealthy never using a guild trader would mean that they have never been influenced by the trader to know what prices they should be selling at, because just knowing the prices in the market IS using the trader. If you have someone going around in zone chat, and is successfully selling blue racial motifs at 10K then i will believe that the individual is not being effected by the market economy established by the traders. In order to someone to never use a guild trader they would have to never step into zone chat, never look at a guild, never sell or buy anything in a guild, and stick to the arbitrary prices that they think the items are worth. The only point you have made that has relevance to the tangent you went on from my post is that you can sell more in zone chat, but once again that is the benefit of being on the PC/Mac where your zone chat encompasses the entire zone and not just the near proximity to you, and because you can sell what people are looking for. However you cannot make a profit in the zone chat, or even player to player if the other person has been influenced by the traders, so even if you are sticking to your random prices and not using the guild traders, you are still subject to the prices that the traders use, prices that the person you are trading with basses the value of the trade on. Lastly, having played on both systems since launch, i know that the world doesn't revolve around console players. There have been 16 patches for the PC/Mac since the launch of the console versions in comparison to the 6 patches that have been released on the XB1. I can assure you that there is far more emphasis placed on the PC/Mac in comparison to the consoles.

I am glad that you were honest about not reading the whole post, but I really wish you would have read the whole essay rather than just the first sentence, then maybe you would have understood at least one of the points that i have made, or at least realized that I covered issues that pertained to both console and PC/Mac.

Perhaps my next thread should be on "The importance of reading the entire thread before posting a reply"

i was originally going to address this issue in the post but since this issue has been persistent since day one and that this is more widespread than the UI ERROR, i just figured that this is never going to be fixed and there was no point including it in yet another post. It is unfortunate that this has not been fixed yet, and just shows the lack of support that the console receives.

oh yea, very much so. Another one you can add that takes up a lot of time(less than it use to, but still a long time) is having to empty our guild bank to combine all the duplicates. Then place everything back in the guild bank. Not sure why the guild bank wouldn't auto stack like our inventory.

This is so horrible; and separating out guild items from your own stock was a pain because we had to remove the items to combine them. So I have a stack or two of an item, and I needed to pull guild bank items out to combine, now it is all mixed together, and I hope I paid attention correctly to what I took out to combine, so I could place it all back in.

I agree with this, the only reason that i think this is not in the game is because they don't want to have someone withdraw a stack at the same time and this allows more people to withdraw the items at the same time. i personally do think that there should be an auto stack function that will keep the bank from being used for a minute or so when applied. Maybe something that only a special officer rank can do or a guild master.
