It's funny how people think that you can 'win' a RPG. Yes, you can make it to the top of the leaderboards, but someone else will always beat the highest score. You can take the entire map in Cyrodil, but the next morning, it will be a different color. So, there is no 'win' as it is all temporary. The only 'win' is your enjoyment.

But, gold does NOT need to be a crown store purchase as it would completely devalue gold. It would kill the sense of accomplishment when you are sitting on a sizable bank account. I have never had more than 100k gold in the bank, and I have been here since the November 2013 beta. If gold was purchased through the crown store, the in game prices would skyrocket. If you were to try to buy a 10k item, if gold were purchased, it would cost you 1 million or more. Why not if gold is that plentiful. Do not underestimate human greed. The only way to get the price down is not to buy if it is too high. There are other ways to get everything you need in the game. When the items in the guild stores come back after a month, a smart seller will lower the price. Look at how much dwemer pages have dropped in price. They used to be 100k or greater. Now, they are 2k.

Player housing might be expensive at first as ZOS hasn't said anything about the costs, but as far as we know, it might be only available to plus members. We don't know yet. I do think that it will be free or discounted for plus subscribers.

    Absolutely not.

    No x100

Worst idea/suggestion to be brought on here.

For one, say goodbye to your chance of ever seeing any decent BOE items in the trade stores because people who have extra couple hundred bucks each month like myself would buy up every single legendary rare item and then gouge the crap out of it.

How is this pay 2 win??? He could get the gold in game just doesn't enjoy or have time to do it. As the folks at ZoS would be quick to show this would simply be convenience .

    Great idea.

The same could be said about literally anything else that's P2W. Levels?, Skill lines?, purchase AP, or CP?

But, but .. what if people don't want to spend time doing these things?. Just plop them on the cash store?. It's just "convenience" lol.

Actually yes, as nefarious as it would be it is still just a convenience factor...

While I'm against the idea simply because of how eso is structured, people need to understand the difference or rather the actual proper definition of "pay to win".

paying to expedite a grind is not p2w by defualt, but rather a morphed and mangled mentality of younger gen gamers.

P2w by its very definition was conceptualized from f2p games which offered player power via items that were not obtainable by regular in game methods. By today's mmo terms, said items would be BIS and impossible to earn in game or have any equal alternative, literally placing the player that chose to spend money at an advantage that non cash spending players could never match.

This would not be pay to win. But still since alot of valuable acc. are boe in this game, it would be a pretty scummy thing to do.

i really hope this wont happen. some people like working for there gold. when games do this there is no work needed to be done u just pay real money for gold and have everything at ur hands. what would be the point in play a game where u earn gold by doing things when one could just buy the gold. no thanks i would rather work hard for the gold i have then just pay for it.

"Pay to win" may have started in the literal sense of the termination. But it has since been generalized into a basic term used, when games offer a way to pay real money for in-game items/services that cause the player who purchases the said services/items to gain advantages within the game over others who don't 'pay' for them. Or hinders players who don't make these 'real money' purchases.

Purchasing gold with real money would affect everyone who uses the said currency.

    ---
Sounds to me like somebody trying to make an argument using literals, and paraphrasing statements to obfusticate the actual meaning of the post.

It would be impossible to offer crowns for gold without unbalancing the games economy further.

Right now having access to buy, pots, and food tho are crown items so in context, why is the desire to buy gold rather than buying what you describe as where you spent most of your gold....all of these are in the crown store now and so you wouldn't need gold.

Oh, if I could do that, my biggest real life problems were solved.. and along with that, some others as well.. *sigh*
Let me see.. one gold for one €, even a thousand gold for one €.. yes, that would do it.
Instead I'm giving away tons of in-game stuff to friends (sometimes even to strangers) for them to have what they need or desire, so I'm happy nonetheless :)

it breaks the economy so bad that you actually have to pay money to be competitive.
with the highe grinds for materials and ger (if not everything was BoP) it would make things so expensive that you will have to spend real money in the game to be on par with the rest. that is how it will become P2W, might not be instant but wont take more then 3-6 months

No way! If this happens it'll only take a few big spenders to mess up the entire in-game economy. You thought 12K tempering alloys on PS4 were bad? Lol

Probably the single thing ZOS could put in the crown store (next to buying CPs, AP, levels, etc) that would make me quit. Absolute 100% NO. Sorry, but it's a horrible idea.
