What would I do with it? Well, that 50k a year minus taxes would be nice. Would be a major help for daycare costs.

It won't make the winner a millionaire anyway, the small print says it is to be paid over 20 years, 50k/year. That is hardly enough to quit a job so not much will change with winning it, a bit more pocket money to spend on games and so, that's all.

Holy crap you spend a lot on games!

Yes - because this one likes to look on the happy side of things.

Also the odds are not bad compared to something like a lottery. Someone will win so this one has as much chance as anyone else who was eligible to enter.

Also this one really needs to quit her job as a Perfect Roe hunter as the puddles are starting to cause wrinkles to the paws and a chill to the whiskers.

I think I will win because I can feel it. My littletoe is acting strange so something good is coming my way.
If I win I would build myself a new Gaming rigg and make ESO videos.
Then pay down some mortage and put more money into my Son and Daughter's savingsaccount for education.

My statistical chances of winning are incredibly low, but if I won, that means that California and the US Federal government wouldn't pay for my college (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I'd also get heavily taxed due to the nature of the income.

But, I'd be able to quit my 1 day a week job of cleaning bathrooms and play ESO instead. I'd rather go that route.

In Canada we pay no tax on lottery winnings. :)

I am a little curious as to what the UK tax situation would be. I know we don't pay tax on lottery winnings but as it isn't a lump sum would you still need to pay tax on it? Would they count it as income from the annuity rather than as a lottery win?

This matters because it changes if I (or any other UK winner) could quit my (their) job or not.

If it's taxable it would be a massive chunk out of the winnings gone.

Yes. To explain how, I cite the lorebook, "Reality and Other Falsehoods".

"It is easy to confuse Illusion and Alteration. Both schools of magic attempt to create what is not there. The difference is in the rules of nature. Illusion is not bound by them, while Alteration is. This may seem to indicate that Alteration is the weaker of the two, but this is not true. Alteration creates a reality that is recognized by everyone. Illusion's reality is only in the mind of the caster and the target.

To master Alteration, first accept that reality is a falsehood. There is no such thing. Our reality is a perception of greater forces impressed upon us for their amusement. Some say that these forces are the gods, other that they are something beyond the gods. For the wizard, it doesn't really matter. What matters is the appeal couched in a manner that cannot be denied. It must be insistent without being insulting.

To cast Alteration spells is to convince a greater power that it will be easier to change reality as requested than to leave it alone. Do not assume that these forces are sentient. Our best guess is that they are like wind and water. Persistent but not thoughtful. Just like directing the wind or water, diversions are easier than outright resistance. Express the spell as a subtle change and it is more likely to be successful. "
