PVP vs PVE or both

So we have all seen the posts about PVE players complaining about being attacked while PVEing in Cyrodiil or the Imperial City. At the same time we have seen many posts about people wanting more open world PVP and zones where all factions come together (similar to a PVP server in WoW for example).

I personally enjoy both, PVE and PVP and play both options about equally. I personally would love to see more zones where all 3 factions come together. I know a lot of you don’t want that, that is just my personal preference (no rage needed :P)

So that’s where I stand, now I am curious where the player base stands.

I do both pretty equally. It all depends on what new content is released. I PVPed a lot when IC came out- then I PVEed a lot when Orsinium came out. Now... I'm seeing what pops up next.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

I mostly PVE with some PVP
When I say "mostly PVE" I mean about 90% or more. I go to Cyrodiil and Imperial City occasionally, but it's more for doing the PVE stuff there. Having said that, I do participate in some PVP here and there (sometimes on purpose even!) and while it's definitely not the thing that I'd want to spend most of my in-game time doing, I've found that it can be a lot of fun.

And I will say that when I'm venturing into a PVP zone with the intent of doing PVE stuff, I'm not one of those people who wishes there was a PVE-only version of that zone. I actually enjoy the extra sense of danger you get from doing PVE with the chance that at any moment you could run into enemy players. I wouldn't want that in the PVE zones (heck, a lot of the time when I'm playing ESO I'm intentionally having a nice relaxing time), but I like that I can choose to go to a different zone and have that experience.

my some PvP is basically going to Cyrodil to do PvE quests or IC for PvE stuff.

I will only PvP if one of the guilds ask me to help cause they are short, but its then only for a scroll run or to take a keep. Then I leave so I don't consider that some PvP.

And to be honest, if there were no Dolmens, shards or caves....I'd never go to Cyrodil because its of no interest.

I answered that I don't do PvP, because, mostly I don't. I have done some PvP and might do some more, but it's not my cup of tea.

I have always thought that they should be separated as changes to PvP balance always seem to screw up my PvE builds. We could have the same characters, but each has an entirely different skill set (sure, some overlap) and you use one skill set for PvP and one for PvE.

As for mixing in PvP into the PvE zones, just no. For one, I don't want to deal with PvP while I am questing or exploring, but the other side of the coin is I don't want the whole game to look like Cyrodiil with the lowered graphics, lack of animals and resource nodes, the spread out content and the other things that are in place to make PvP work and not lag down the servers.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Used to be a "hardcore" PvEer, but as many other basically only play PvP now because PvE is, unfortunately, not challenging enough to keep doing it after a few hundred times.

I think the main thing PvPers want is a fixed Cyrodiil, everything else isn't really important.

I agree completely. If they opened more zones to open world pvp that would help out Cyrodil and could possibly destroy it at the same time. It would be really nice to go into other zones(Future DLC!) and fight other factions but that could have the same results as IC received. It was a lot of fun at first but now only a small % of people still go in there. I guess what ZOS could do to help keep people in Cyrodil would be to extend the PVP buffs to new PVP zones created. That way you have an incentive to go back to Cyro if new zones are created. You want a home keep or emperor buff, go to Cyro and claim your home keeps and battle for emp!

If they do create these PVP zones, they could bring in the Enforcer status for the Justice System. Anyone with bounties that go into these zones would be open game for the Enforcers. This would allow people to enjoy that part of the system they haven't been able to implement. The same leveling buff would be needed here so V16's couldn't just go one shot a level 10.

Enjoy!? forced PvP especially in regular PvE zones isn't my definition of enjoyable plus I bet you anything they will "forget" to put a warning beforehand nothing like a level 3 attempting to steal a new sword and getting jumped by 8 V16s in town to cause rage quitting... If they do do it I hope the add a must be KOS condition before enforcers can jump in at least and prevent players from reporting crimes or the grieving will never end.

Not sure how knowing players game style preference has anything to do with whether there will be or should be any change to current status of PVP and PVE locales in the game.

I've mostly done PVE, not really understanding PVP, and frustrated by how much AP is needed to advance those skills. But since I want some of the PVP skills, lately I've been doing at least as much PVP as PVE.

One observation is how laughable it is to say PVE is boring and repetitious, because PVP mostly consists of fighting for the same keeps and resources over and over and over again. True, in PVP, the outcome is uncertain, but that is really the only difference. PVP is mostly a numbers game......those with big numbers usually win. Even the most skilled will eventually fall to numbers if they don't escape.

I voted for doing some PvP (in the future) - but to be honest, it is not my intention to do it in the way it is normally done, I just want to see as well Cyrrodil and the IC and try out ambush tactics (not because I suck at PvP, I do, but because I like this play style). I will most likely suck at PvP, because I have no practice with this. But this does not matter, I will have fun nevertheless, because I am not forcing myself to be good at it and I do not have an urge to win.

I will try my best and if I get killed, fine, the other was better and I respect that. I will try again and learn over time, either to avoid encounters or to be better at ambushing people. Just to state it as well: I do not intend to ambush those, who are PvEing there, because this is against my own moral to do that. I will try to ambush the ambushers .-)

I have swung the pendulum from one way to the other.
I came in here as a pure pve player with all the prejudices towards pvp. I decided to try Cyro one day with some friends as it seemed different from pvp in other games.

I was hooked after putting down my first ballista at a keep seige. Now, 2 years into this game, I'm mostly pvp and find pve boring and repetitive.
Pvp is always different, you never know what or who you'll run into out there.
