Orsinium if you're not actually VR16

lakin1994b16_ESO
So i was just wondering, let's say i go into Orsinium at level 17, obviously you get scaled to VR15 (I believe) - do i still receive exp whilst questing, therefore progressing through the levels? Or is it literally just for story?
So after the 25 or so hours Orsinium offers, will i have gained a fair few levels, thus over leveling me for content i was on before?
Thanks yo.

(on PS4) mate when i went to help a mate on my second character around lvl 25 at the time for some reason i found it easier. dont know if the game adjusts to the level of your character but i deffo found it harder on my vr16. That is fighting general NPC enemies. have no worries about doing orsinium

And during this time were you gaining levels? Also, how were the drops for Motifs? Any luck?

Yup, you still earn exp. I went there from level 3, which was nice because I was sick of the normal quests I was accustomed to. This changed things up a bit.
  • lakin1994b16_ESO
What level did it get you to? @Alucardo

I got to around 32 then got bored and went to PVP.

True that. Well at level 14 I started doing the public dungeons. It's just endless corridors of mobs, so the exp gain can get pretty good in there!

How was the drops for ancient orc motifs? if any?

Lol I dropped one in Old Orsinium dungeon not long after Orsinium was released, then I got hit with the rollback and lost it. Haven't found one since.

yes you lvl up as normal doing everything. also seems to me increased chance of getting motifs recipes, weapons armour etc. check every type of container sack urn, steal everything

Yeah, it's unfortunate that it overlevels you for the content in your home zones. But you'll still get the gold and XP for questing over-level. The only thing you don't get is XP and drops from mobs.

This is the point where @Gidorick drops in with a link to his "downscaling for home zones" concept thread... ;)

Not to sound like a l337ist but, the only npcs I found to be remotely challenging were the world bosses.

Some of the npc's have new tricks that I haven't seen on normal npc's but aside from that they're not really any harder than any other, aside from the world bosses. Which I love, because it makes the world bosses feel like a bigger deal.

Went there with an alt at level 3. Finished literally all the content and was level 24 I think.. all the while was in green training gear and didn't face anything too challenging.

A brand new player who doesn't know the game well, doesn't have any gear aside from what he got in the Coldharbour tutorial, and goes there on a level 3 or 4 is going to have a really rough time with even the basic mobs. It will be much tougher than the starting zones, and this new player may not be able to complete quests and delves without help.

An experienced player going there on a low level new character with adequate gear will find that the basic mobs are more of a challenge than the mobs in the starting zones, and more of a challenge than if he was going there on a higher level character with weapon swapping, enough skill points to have decent passives, etc. This experienced player won't have any real issues with it though, and should be OK getting through pretty much everything but the world bosses without help.

An experienced player going there on a character that's level 15 or higher will probably find it to be a little tougher than the zones scaled to that character's level, but not by very much.

I see Orsinium as an alternative post-50 leveling zone for those like me who don't want to do Cadwells. Therefore it's worth completing all the original 1-50 content before starting Orsinium.

BINGO. That's exactly what I did. VR1-VR4 in Orsinium and I'm not even done there yet.

On one character I went VR1-VR5 in Orsinium. He's completed everything there aside from Maelstrom Arena, but hasn't done most of the dailies more than once or twice, and hasn't farmed the public dungeons. I wasn't really doing Orsinium as an alternative post-50 leveling zone for him, though, it's just that he's my orc and I wanted to experience all of Orsinium on him before doing any of it on other characters.

Between the world boss dailies and the public dungeons I'm thinking it wouldn't be very difficult to level VR1-VR16 in Orsinium.

That's my plan too. I should actually get on and do that some time....

Which is exactly why the first 50 zones are PAINFUL!

Honestly, the game only need the starter islands and the first level 15 zone before everything else should have scaled like Orsinium.

Absolutely massive missed opportunity by ZOS to open this game up more like a true TES game.

My alt is finishing up the skyshards and skill point quests in Gold, then I'll switch to Orsinium. I expect to be V9ish at the end. Tracking down all the quests in Shadowfen? Ugh, no, thank you.

Other than writs and surveys, she'll probably totally ignore Craglorn.

The absolute best experience is starting at VR2-8 with most crafting maxed out.

Battle leveling is a cruel trick, though, as you'll feel your character getting less powerful even if you upgrade gear and weapons every level. And you'll regularly find chests left with low level gear in them. And nodes. When you see a sanded ruby piece of wood and a level 5 harvests it as maple because Auridon is too 'peasant' for him apparently...

I'm pretty sure most people just quit instead of making "Why does my character suck and get more frustrating the longer I play it?" threads. ZOS may think battle leveling gets people into new content sooner, but the irony is that by giving people more options, they're fracturing the community more quickly as every zone becomes a lopsided competition for resources.
