Hehe. Love nightblades. Made 20k AP fighting two of them last night. Technically they were farming me. But still great fun to play against.

I'm not terribly good at PvP. But blazing spear and dawn breaker of smiting worked well for me. And potions of course.

I buffed up. Harness Magic, Rapid Regen, etc.

Then attacked the weakest. Blazing spear for the stun, puncturing sweep a couple times, dawn breaker or radiant oppression. They don't have a lot of health, so it's doable.

Still working on my skills, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I still like your advice. Harness magicka and radiant oppression I been jsing. I admit not mich of puncturing sweep I use. Will for sure now. Thank you.

Keep in mind that 8/10 Nightblades are stamina builds. Harness Magicka does nothing against their skills, it only absorbs spell dmg. If they're also using Shield Breaker set, it's extremely risky to have Harness up, it buffs their dps even more.

The HoT from Rapid Regen is really weak v.s NB burst, especially since resto has low spell power and not boosted by your Templar passives. I wouldn't waste a skill slot on that. Purifying Ritual + BoL is the best healing you'll get. Especially since NB's will debuff spam.

Blazing Spear doesn't connect on ranged or moving targets, due to insane travelling times. If you want to use it, drop it on top of yourself when the NB is in your face, that usually works. But if he starts kiting around you wont be able to hit him with it.

I think one of the main issues for templar v.s nightblades today is Toppling Charge being bugged still. You need a gap closer to connect with skills like Dawnbreaker, Proxi and Puncturing Sweep, since no mobility at all otherwise. Unless you can perma-pressure a NB with dps, he will get away. But without a 100% reliable gap closer, is a bit rng whether it's going to work.

As A Templar it is my job to heal and as a soldier of Daggerfall.
Your job is far, far greater than this.
Undodgeable Toppling Charge is good vs NBs, however zos should change tooltip:
"Brave decision to use such cool ability has a 50% chance to stuck you to be insta-wiped"

Op - I have a vet 16 nightblade, but my Templar is only lvl 30 so I'm not yet totally familiar with their abilities. However, Templars kill my NB more than any other class. Some thoughts:

    1. Your story has you fighting two over and over. Any 2 on 1 battle is going to be rough. We can't discuss a fair duel if the odds are that stacked against you. Don't feel bad about getting killed if ganged up on. That said...

    2. My NB runs out of resources fast. That's why they try to kill you fast. Learn to get the heals, blocks, etc up quick, and your Templar can be good to go when they've hit empty. Once they hit empty, you have to keep them out of cloak. If you can do that, you'll win.

    3. NBs are very weak to any sort of snare or stun. In order to kill you quickly, most of them have left protection abilities and purges off their bar. If you can pin a NB down, he's going to die.

    4. Think Like a NB. When I'm playing my NB, the game is no longer a zergy fight. I weave in and out of battle whenever I like. Shoot this guy off his horse while I'm stealth on a rock? Sure. Whoops, the next fight got too hot...better cloak and run off the hide. And I know my arena - where I can hide and where I can run to if needed. All of this combined means that mostly I'm picking fights I think I can win and mostly the battles are on my terms. This is why you aren't doing well - you didn't decide to have a fight in an open field after being thrown from your horse, I decided to have that fight and now you have to deal with it. This is the beauty of the assassin class - they instigate the battles.

What does that translate to? Watch your factions' Nightblades, where they hide and how they stalk. That's the same thing the other teams are doing to you. The rocks your NB's hide on before/durning/after a battle? That's where your enemies are. Turn that around on them, and you can destroy them. About 90% of my deaths in PVP occur when the battle shifts and new/unknown combatants enter. And yet, I have yet to experience my personal nightmare - getting halfway through a battle with a Templar to discover he had a Templar friend in stealth nearby who's now involved. Why aren't Templars using the stealth aspect of the game, amd applying some strategy to it? I haven't figured this out.

The only classes that kill nb's are nb's because that specifically have a skill to deal with nb's.
    PS4 EU DC

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

The reason why a NB stays alive is capped defenses (any class can do this) and self heals. Limit their self heals. Spec reduced healing CP options along with defense penetration and ttk will even out.

Just want to talk about this point.

The defile star I believe increases the effectiveness of healing reduction abilities by a percent. I am assuming that like all other stars this is a multiplier and not an additive.

So if Dark Flare does 30% by default and you spec fully into the Defile star, is that only an increase of 33% of the original 30%? I mean .3*1.33= 40%

Is 100 stars really worth an extra 10% healing reduction considering the other options in the constellation?
Can't find source right now but in course of the discussion on CP perks initiated by @Wrobel, a green posted that defile is additive. Means that with 100 in defile, your dark flare goes from 30% to 63% reduction.

And even funnier, the lead combat designer later updated the post because he was wrong about how it worked... go figure.

Blazing Shield+ Puncturing Sweep while they ambush spam you, killing themselves basically lol. And here's something that I doubt most templars know: Eclipse pulls NB's out of dark cloak. No escape when they try to run! :)

Use purifying ritual a lot to get all of the debuffs off. In particular, major defile should never stay on you for more than a second.
