Need help with a Dark Elf Dragonknight build

Firebolt98
Firebolt98
Soul Shriven
I started my Dark Elf off with some points in ardent flame and dual wielding, but I'm not sure whether to go heavy armor or medium armor. My goal for this character is to dodge in and out of combat dealing concentrated burst damage and throwing fire. My gut feeling is medium armor but it seems more geared towards stealth as opposed to open combat (I was tempted to throw in some stealth since it seemed to fit with my dark elf but decided against it). Also, I've pretty much decided to go dual blades as opposed to maces or axes, but I'm kind of unclear as to the difference between daggers and swords. Do daggers just attack faster than swords at the sacrifice of a little bit of range, or are they meant for a different play style all together?

Great concept. Not gonna work on a DK. Dks have no movement capability in combat save what you get with the bow passive. Dks have exactly zero burst capability in they're class skills. Dks are built for sustained damage not burst. You can get burst by going stamina build but that includes very few class skills and virtually none that involve fire save a couple DoTs which again aren't burst. Sorry to burst your bubble

Pretty much. Wrecking blow being your main burst. You don't any on dual wield really.

All weapons have same range and atrack speed. Their effect from passives is what differ. Sword have increased damage, axes cause bleed damage, maces have increased armor penetration and daggers have increased crit.

Thanks for the help, I'm glad I learned this now instead of later. If I am going to continue with this character I would still like to have a combination of fire and dual wield but based on your comments it seems I am going to have to build for sustained damage which I am also looking forward to trying. I assume this means heavy armor, but I am curious what is better about medium and light armor. Do they just let you move faster?

Medium you can sprint faster, but mobility as a DK has to come from other sources- dual wield skill Quick Cloak or dodging with a bow, proccing a passive that gives you 40% extra movement for a few seconds. Heavy armor DK is very good right now but requires animation canceling to deal any kind of meaningful damage. Medium armor builds with 2H and bow are good but less forgiving defensively.
