Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

Which class/races are "intended" for each other?

lazarusrevives
Hey ESO community! How you guys doing?

For this discussion I was hoping to see some numbers revolving around which race and class are best for their intended combinations.

For example, kajits are naturally sneaky, so I would assume they were intended to be night blades. Orcs are pretty tough so I would assume they were meant to be dragon Knights. But, I haven't run any numbers just assumptions based on the little I know from TES games I've played. I'm also only about a month into the game at this point, so I'm reaching out to the more experienced players to absolve me of my newb-ness hehe thanks everyone!

    Breton - Templar (Magicka Healer)
Redguard - Night Blade (Stamblade dps)
Orc - Dragon Knight (Stamina dps)
Bosmer - Night Blade (Stamina dps)
Khajiit - Night Blade (Stamina dps)
    Altmer - Sorcerer (Magicka dps)
Dunmer - Dragon Knight (Magicka dps)
    Nord - Dragon Knight (Tank)
Argonian - Templar (Needs buff lol)
Imperial - Dragon Knight (Tank or stamina dps)

Obviously those are only min/max'd roles.

I think Bretons are more sorcs than temps, although the cinematic shows a NB (with a bow)

Its more what you want to do with the class. but even then, I tank, dps, and heal on my nightblade. All I need to do is change some gear around in most cases. And i play a khajiit in magica spec.

Dunmer go well with dps dragonknight for instance. Altmer work well for majica builds, and Breton nightblades work well in magica. Redguards and Bosmer make great stamina builds. nords and orcs do fit nicely into tanking.
This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!

I based it off game mechanics and racial passives, not lore.

Magicka cost reduction + Max Magicka gives Bretons the best sustain, which helps for spamming Heals.

Races aren't meant for classes but for magicka or stamina focus, some are not but obviously some are distinctly better than others.

    Magicka:
    Breton
Altmer - Elemental damage bonus, so DK's a good choice.

    Stamina:
Imperial - Melee restores health, so melee you will use.
Redguard - Melee restores stamina so melee you will use.
    Bosmer
Orc - Extra Melee damage so guess what you will want to use.
Khajiit - extra Weapon crit makes for particularly good Stam NBs

    Special:
Nords - Health bonus and damage reduction, good for tanks, or any class if you want a little extra surviveability
Dunmer - get a split between Stam and Magicka, with a little more max magicka and a bonus to fire damage - excellent DKs
Argonian - Hahaha, why would you do this?

This is why I always choose Dunmer in case I want to switch between stamina or magicka play styles, it doesn't hurt my dps as much. Dunmer are like the jack of all trades race. They may not be the absolute best in either but they still do pretty good.

Ya, I have Imperial and Dunner DK (different factions.........stamina dps). Both can put the hurt on ya!

Why you would use a non regen race now for any class I can't understand.

    RIP softcaps.

I think Bretons are more sorcs than temps, although the cinematic shows a NB (with a bow)

Sorcs are better off being altmer due to the elemental damage increase. The spell resistance passive of breton is a little wasted too as you have Hardened Ward up which negates damage type.

Redguard is amazing for any stam dps. Orc, wood elf and khajit are good too, but the max stam, regen and stam back on melee attacks make redguard miles better IMO. My stamplar, stam Sorc and stamblade are all redguard.

I have an orc stam DK. My first character so chose orc as I hadn't played one in an ES game. Luckily it's decent. I tank pvpe but switch to a good dps pvp build then. I suffer a little with regen, so I kinda have to run drink. That does work well for more wings and a decent health regen so still pretty tanky.

    I also have

Magica Dk - dumner. Good for vamp too. Altmer another viable choice.

Magica temp - I knew I wanted vamp, so spell resistance over elemental (irrelevant as everything I use except vampire's bane is magica damage) made more sense.

Magica NB - same as above.
