Some armour advice for a noobie

shauny.gibbsb16_ESO
Okay my ESO progression is going fairly well so far, im heading towards V5, what I've not done is look into Armour, I've never been a crafter type, usually I'd rather farm mobs, giving myself a PvP break, then buy the gear I need. With no Auction House is that even viable here or am I likely going to have to end up crafting my own even though I have no clue about crafting.

What do you guys normally do, just use drops until V16 (like i am) or craft a new gear set every 5 levels or something?

If you don't craft yourself, either ask a friend/guildmate to craft for you or go to one of the 100s of.auction houses that are there, the guild traders. Check for guys that offer twice born star pieces or morkuldin (those are the most difficult to craft ones) note down the account name, and message that guy by game mail ask for commission works of the specified sets. Collect the necessary materials, meet him, get stuff crafted.

It's less the "missing" auction house, but more the fact that crafted sets are difficult to find since every john, jack and harry is 9 trait crafter and noone bothers to put them up at the traders...

    Solid advice @Leandor

Join an endgame trade guild and ask for crafters. There are a lot of crafters in the game, but most, like myself, never advertise their services because people don't usually want to pay much for a job and it's way too tedious and time consuming to be worth the effort. We also don't typically list crafted sets on guildstores since people are usually very specific and what styles, traits and parts they want.

At the end of the day, it's probably a good idea to research crafting yourself. If only for the convenience.

Well you can just pay someone else to craft for you, or if you have nice friends/guildies they might craft for free, especially if you can provide the mats.
When I was leveling my first character I made new armor every ~5 normal levels and every 2-3 vet levels but I did pick crafting up pretty soon. When leveling my latest alt, I think I made new armor like four times total - lvl 10, lvl 25, v1, v9 and v12. I'm also fairly sure that when around lvl 40 my armor got trashed again I gave up on repairs, took it off and did the rest of the nonvet content naked
For questing it won't really matter because all the content is really easy. If you want to PvP or do group content, you might want to find someone to craft for you if you haven't yet/don't want to learn about crafting, that option is fairly common;) You can look for a crafter in guilds or just try zchat. For instance for EP Deshaan is usually a very lively place due to Undaunted Enclave being there so you might frequently see someone looking for a crafter or offering crafting services in zchat there.

Thanks guys, good advice, I might (for the 1st time ever) start crafting so when im V16 I can have the seducer set for PvP, it will also break up the levelling a bit, if that fails I'll go my usual route ;)

I must say this community is great, in my many (too many) gaming years this is one of the best in forum, especially in today's gaming world.

I suggest unlocking 3 traits only on what you use primarily.shouldnt take long

Deconstruct everything else. It's worth doing this even if you don't use crafting Passives so you have the mats to have someone craft gear for you.

The only reason to research traits is if one day you decide to make that character an alt
