Character Deletion Timer - make it shorter?

finnara_ESO
I am aware of the issue with botting and the deletion timer works well as a method of preventing it. However, I am someone who tends to make a character, play a level or two, and then re-make it when I don't like the look/feel/etc. It is getting very tedious waiting 24 hours between every re-do.

I propose making the timer shorter - 2 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours even. Obviously I don't have statistics on botters, but wouldn't the timer still dissuade them enough, while making it possible for someone like me to adjust my character's look?

If the goal of the timer is to keep the starting areas from clogging up with bots, then a shorter timer would be just as effective as the longer one. Personally I would rather we figure out a way to deal with the bots another way, and allow me to delete my characters as I need. (I'm sitting on 5 "test" look characters right now and I just want to clear them out and try others!)

I know this is an old issue but it still matters to me. Alt-oholics unite. :P

P.S. We need a barbershop and a re-customize appearance option please!

You have 8 characters slots. Just quit making new characters everyday and deleting them right away, lol.

If this were even an issue, it would probably be #9467 on the list of issues ZOS needs to work on.

The only real problem with the deletion timer is that the 24 hours reset every time you delete a character. So if you delete a 2nd character when the first timer has 1s remaining, it will reset to 24 hours and not issue you another character deletion. At this point the timer should be removed and an additional character deletion (up to a max of 3) should be provided every day at midnight or whenever the writs refresh.

I see the both positives and negatives... and like the OP, there are times when you a character looks great in the creation screen, but in the real-world something is messed up. I can tell you absolutely that the eyebrow skew is OFF in the creation screen... if you try to balance the eyebrows in the creation screen, it will be OFF in the game. So I set it to the middle selection, even though it looks skewed, so that way it looks right in the game. I am sure there are many other things like that occurring as well- same thing happened with Dragon Age Inquisiton- I don't know why their is a difference between what is shown in creator and how it appears once saved and appears in the game.

I do think they could reduce the timer to six hours... this would still have the same effect regarding botting... 24 hours seems to be a huge extreme. I know when I first started playing, figuring out the character creator screen (and learning how it was off), I created and deleted a lot of characters. Figure that, the character we create we are expected to play for hundreds of hours, if not thousands... so yeah, for players like me who are character aesthetics OCD... we need our characters to look just right. I don't know how many times I've thought I liked a character only to reach lower VR levels and decide there was something I just didn't like... delete... start over; my life will be SO MUCH better once they finally add their 'barbershop'. ;)
