Templar's Radiant Ward / Blazing Shield / Sun Shield!

@ZOS Can you please seriously take a good look at Radiant Ward in PvP?

I know this ability has got a lot of hate in the past, but that was the past. It's been nerfed so hard that nobody even uses it in PvP anymore, unless they're completely unaware and have the best Max Health/Magicka Recovery builds possible (and sacrifice all their damage to rely on a close-explosion, depending on the class who's hitting them, etc.)

With the battle spirit buff, it's been nerfed so hard ever since the Imperial City DLC came out, because of the 50% reduction to shield absorbs, Templar's are way behind now because the ability scales off of 15% (base) max health.

I tested it a while back with 44.5k Max Health, and the absorb is absolutely weak, not to mention that the damage reflected is even weaker now. You also run out of magicka fast, and it doesn't last long enough to be of any use in PvP anymore.

Also tried it again recently, 26k health. It pops on one hit.

Yeah it's such a shame because I was watching one of my old videos from before IC came out, and now I miss it so badly... I may have to upload that video just to show people how it used to be, and what it's like now, maybe.

They should have a look at all %Health, and even flat health based abilities and passives to be honest.

Dragon blood, Igneous shield, fragmented shield, Unstable Clannfear, Sun shield, battle roar, bone shield (& morphs), Ferocious leap, Hardened armor, Blood magic... There are probably others.

All of these were made weaker with IC.

Igneous shield => 3k shield for 40k health? Be serious for a second...

Wow, seriously? then yeah, all of those need a good serious look at then. I was unaware that other classes got effected just as much, too... so that makes this even more interesting.

Classic example of where some loud voices in PvP utterly ruined a skill. Who in their right mind uses this now? I would love to have this as a viable shield in vMA, but it is a resource sink that even basic adds can 1 shot from you. Utterly useless.

Yeah, honestly it's one of those things if they want balance they need to look at. Most people call full on nerf of sorc shields and buff of templar shield, but honestly I think they just need to take a look at the formula all together. Also I wouldn't blame it on PvPers, I'd blame it on laziness and a lack of knowledge by the devs more than anything. Even if they did it on pvp players suggestion they get the final call.

I'm an Imperial templar with around 29k hp in PvP with just food and 56 points into bastion. My blazing shield can absorb around 5kish damage normally. Blazing Shield on it's own is nothing special anymore, and it alone usually won't save you from death. However, stacking it with other forms of mitigation is where it shines, like a second shield such as annulment, or passives such as the impenetrable armor trait. It still has a slot on my main bar like that.

DPS wise, I still crit people for up to 5k when the shield breaks, a 5k shield crit in conjunction with high damage puncturing sweeps spells death for most close range melee builds. I get Blazing Shield killing blows pretty often from people trying to face tank my shield+sweeps.Doesn't do much against ranged sorcs though lol, but that's what my ranged off bar is for.

It's all about skill combination people, most skills on their own in this game are pretty crap, but combined with certain skills/gear they can be pretty deadly.

That being said though Sun Shield still needs a revert back to what it was pre-IC or some other kind of buff because it still pales in comparison to the other damage shields.

Still remember when I was a total noob in 1.6 and I got my clouding swarm and concealed weapon going on you @CrowsDescend and I exploded from you just casting Blazing Shield over and over lmao.

Swap it out for a new skill completely. An escape skill even as we don't have one except running backwards spamming BOL but even that doesn't last forever. The shield isn't even used in Pve

At 70k health, in PvP, it still would not be as large a shield as a good Hardened Ward. lol.

I have stopped using it long ago, but when I watched some old videos of my terrible gameplay, I noticed how fun Blazing Shield was and how crucial it was, also, in situations where I'd get Wrecking Blow-spammed, etc.

Wow... 70k is crazy numbers, and I can imagine how useless Radiant Ward would be, even then.

It used to be great indeed.

I can recall during the Bat-Swarm meta I could withstand a Bat-Swarm onslaught using BS, while simultaneously denying the vampire heals (shield mechanics OP) and doing damage with the bubble bursting. It was a real nice counter.

I tried slotting this in IC right after it came out, all it really does is add a little explosion animation right before you die.

I believe 50k health with magic regen is its sweet spot in pvp. Too much more health and you don't have enough magic regen to sustain it in long fights (although it will hit AOE hard as F***.) probably the hardest hitting AOE in the game at 70k health...but you'd only be able to cast it once every seven seconds or so. But with 50k health, 1500+magic regen, 2k+ health regen, and 1500~ stamina regen, your looking at an absolutely incredible tank in pvp or pve. Matter fact the 20k shield in pve accually GIMPS you. Because most mob packs won't burn through the shield, wasting the hits and magic from the explosion after six seconds...i really hope they DO buff this skill though, make my build a walking god you do NOT WANT TO HIT.=D. Also...buff the weakest race too, buff nords. Give us moar health regen and health! Tell me that wouldn't be OP as ***
