framerate problems

back in 2014 i was able to play in the same pc i'm playing today, at 1080p in high settings, but since i returned, in the end of the last year, i found a lot of new problem with the gama frame rate, and i've been able to run much graphical demanding games in the same machine.

recently i quit playing at 1080p and decided to go to 720p low or 480p medium, and it got a little better. meanwhile i ordered more 16GB of ram and a SSD drive, that i may receive next week, to try to make it a little better.

i don't care much about the graphic aspect of the game, i don't mind to play at 720p low or 480p medium, but i can't stand playing at 10 to 20fps, i really hate it.

the weird thing, is that in the last days, i've been noticing, that after 1am, until about 5 to 6am, i can in fact play at 1080p in high settings at 100fps, but, right now, at 8pm i'm playing at 720p low getting 20fps.

how is this possible? how can this be related with my system and how can i fix it?

It's not you, it's not your system specs, addons, IP or router. Problem is at ZOS end.

now i'm playing at 50fps, it's much better, but i still can't change to high settings.

i'm no expert in this matters, that's why i'm asking, but even with my little knowledge in this subject i still find it very weird to get low fps and somehow get a little better after lowering my graphic specs. i really don't understand.

usually, during the day, when i get around 10-20fps in high specs, sometimes i can turn to 50fps just by change to low specs. but, after 1am, it doesn't matter much because i easily get the 100fps on any spec (not always, but many times).

before playing ESO when i had this kind of problems (very rarely) it didn't matter if i changed the graphic specs. so, on ESO why the lowering the graphic specs helps a little on the frame rate?

another thing that i can't understand if it's a problem at my end or a game problem, is the sound in some orsinium bosses. in some bosses, more frequently on poachers, most of the sound effects disappear during the fight. is this related?

My guess is that the developers unified some parts of the codebase across PC and XBOX platforms when preparing the Imperial City update. Ever since that update went live towards the end of last year we've had serious performance issues on the PC platform. Considering many players were perfectly capable of playing ESO without any stuttering on their hardware prior to the Imperial City DLC's release, yet that update didn't improve the graphics (if anything the patch notes claim that there have been optimisations to the graphical performance of ESO) we have to question why we've had to put up with such a large impact on our gameplay.
