Encouraging pve players to try pvp and vice versa

Hey all,

WARNING: slightly wordy Post but please try to read it with an open mind! :D

So we have all seen the constant bickering of pve gets helms, pve don't get alliance ranks, devs love pve don't love pvp blah blah
I think all this stems from a great divide in the people who pve and pvp that refuse to try the other aspect of the game. Ie: if u pvp u don't pve or ur a pver who dosent pvp.

Here's what I think might be a solution. We all know people flock to a certain campiagn and for a said duration the other campaigns become barren wastelands at most filled with cwc exp grinders. If u pve at all you would recall these mini blue portals spawning randomly in the world with random slightly stronger daedra that you can kill for exp and loot. How about if huge portals started appearing in these empty campaigns with huge bosses and their minions started attacking a keep owned by the alliance that currently has the most keeps? Basically imagine a huge frigging Titan shooting mega meteors on the keep akin to siege and scamps pelting people with fire balls akin to those pesky archer nbs. Everyone would get a message that pops up saying "x" keep owned by "x" alliance is now under siege by molag bal! Before u think I'm crazy and should burn in hell for suggesting this hear me out plssss!

This would give pvers a chance to earn ap in cyrodil! Also they would be fighting alongside experienced pvpers from their faction to defend said keep. So they won't get slaughtered by pvp gods and then hate cyro. Also opposing factions could take advantage and Attack other keeps etc etc. This adds a whole layer of complexity to cyro and gives pvers a chance to do some pve (as well as pvp hopefully) and maybe end up liking it! On the flip side exclusive pvpers would also fight alongside experienced pvers to take down big bad bosses that drop decent loot (maybe a small chance at a v16 legendary item/ hakeijo runes etc etc) and maybe they might start liking pve!

Added bonus this makes people spread out over the various campaigns that might tackle server load and lag issues? So obviously my idea isn't very polished and def needs more input but what does everyone think? Am I crazy? Or could this become a thing? Cos right now cyro is just mostly Zerg Zerg Zerg and random bridge farms and resource farms. This might make cyro the most "hip" place to be regardless of whether ur a pvper or pver.

See that's what I'm trying to fix haha. To get 1 mil ap you'd have to squat up and down 40 000 times while spending around 3 mil + Gold on repair kits. Not fun....

It's an interesting idea, but what happens if people don't show up to defend the keep and Molag Bal takes it?

PvP'ers do try PvE whether they like it or not (and many have made it clear they don't.), so I don't think this would so anything extra to inspire their interest, except possibly if it leveled their Fighter's Guild level. Perhaps it would interest PvE'ers.

I do think the intro to Cyrodil training quest could be more involved and interesting. A lot of stuff you are just supposed to pick up along the way, like what are home keeps and why they are important, and how taking resources changes the transit system.

I'm looking forward to taking my healer to Cyro actually, as I'm finally in a guild that PvP's properly. This would be a cool thing, but I would like to see these being more difficult than the central IC sewers event, so that multiple alliance raids have to work together to take them down (then fight over the spoils :p). That would be absolutely awesome.

I like the idea (of more PVE mobs in Cyro) but I don't think it will work the way that you think it might. I think enemy faction players will wait while a PVE mob storms a keep & weakens the defenders.. then rush in & kill all the enemy players, then clean up the PVE mobs... kinda like what happens in the IC now.

I don't really consider myself a PVE or PVP player... I like & do both. However when I do PVP.. I really don't want to be fighting PVE mobs & knocking holes in walls with only PVE resistance... it's too predictable! When I am PVPing, I want to fight other players & I know this is true for the co-op friends I play with too. Routinely we get to a slow time in the Keep warfare in Cyrodiil & the question gets asked "what do we all want to do now?" & the inevitable answer is "find enemy players & kill them". (BTW none of us are awesome players.. we regularly get wiped by the 'PVP gods')

I play PVE with these same friends & they are fine with PVE too. It's just more relaxed playing..but eventually we all need some spice!

This is why you could make them roaming, and drop some sort of unique item after a very long and arduous battle. Make it take so long and be so difficult that enemy alliance zergs can show up and wipe out the attackers, then be wiped out themselves whilst the boss is still alive. The roaming bosses in IC just don't really give enough to make it worth the long battle, so perhaps some unique PvP set items?

Definetly no one likes to play player vs door or npc in cyro but if the rewards are good enough people will come to take part so it would most likely turn into a pvp battle. Molag bals forces would be hostile towards all sides involved and we could make these mobs stealth detection radius huge such that if anyone enters the area regardless of defenders or other faction players trying to take advantage of the Attack would be placed in combat. So it would be an epic cross way battle between players bals forces and our poor Mage and soldier npcs. Plus this would be happening in a Low population campaign that would pull people off the ever flooded azuras so everyone gets to enjoy some lag free action.

If you removed the system in IC where you loose Tel Var stones then you'd probably find more PVE players would go there and be happy to PVP too, however that would probably see PVP players going elsewhere, even tho they say its the PVP they want and not the Tel Var stones.

Meh as for ic what's done is done. But to address your point, ic was intended to be a pvp dlc. But over the course they decided to incorporate some pve in it too. In pve its all about a few things; grinding new gear, levelling up and questing. So to address the gear grind I Guess they came up with the tel car system. Now pvers can get gear. Pvp players don't like killing mindless npcs so hence the stone loss system. Not the best idea that zos came up with but what's done is done there. So I say lets make a few changes to cyro instead because I doubt the tv system is going to change.

Also go to any public dungeon in orsinium where there is no loss system in place. Ur always going to see mindless mob killing zombies spamming impulse or steel nado running round and round, round and round eeryday' allday'. I'd hate to see ic deteriorate to that.

I agree totally, I like to play both PVE and PVP but the 2 should be kept separate or the same as it is in Cyro. i prefer to quest than grind an area over and over and I like the fact that if i'm doing a delve in Cyro there is the possibility i may bump into the enemy.
