Same Amount of Damage Received in vMA Regardless CPs Combination

Hi,

Do I have a bugged character?

I'm trying the vMA, get to the first boss and, if I die, I always die with aprox. the same amount of damage.

So, I decided to mess around with my Champion Points and I tried these combinations:

- 0 CPs in Spell Shield (24k spell resistance in my toon) + 50 CPs in Hardy + 50 CPs in Elemental Defender
- 0 CPs in Spell Shield + 100 CPs in Hardy + 0 CPs in Elemental Defender
- 0 CPs in Spell Shield + 0 CPs in Hardy + 100 CPs in Elemental Defender
- 100 CPs in Spell Shield + 0 CPs in Hardy + 0 CPs in Elemental Defender

Regardless the combination I use I always get around 8k of Entropic Bolt and / or Shock.

How come? Shouldn't the CPs lower the damage I receive?

How is it possible that it doesn't matter where I put my CPs I'm always being hit with almost the same amounts of damage?

Should I open a ticket?

This is very strange, I guess the boss does Magic Damage so Hardy should help. I have not tested it tho, maybe sb else has?

All I know is that some bosses take % HP away, so no matter if you have 20k hp, 30k hp, or 40k Spell res or 20k Spellres, he will always take lets say 40% of your HP away, for example boss stage 3 works like that.

@ZOS_RichLambert maybe Rich knows more about that?

Theres a couple skills in the arena that don't behave as you would expect in regards to damage type. eg spiral shadows spider boss' spit I would assume was magic damage, but comes under the classification of physical damage. Its possible something similar is happening here.

I think the idea with this was to prevent harness magicka being used to effectively tank all damage at little to no cost

More info on my character:

1 - I'm Stamina DK
2 - 5 Medium armor, 1 Heavy, 1 Light
3 - 5 Hunding's (4 pieces + 1 mace sharpened for main weapon), 1 Molag Kena's shoulders, 2 Morkuldin and 1 Hunding's Rage Bow sharpened (for secondary weapon) or 2 Morkuldin swords precise (for secondary weapon)
4 - 25k health, 28k stamina and 11k magicka
5 - I have 300+ CPs

Wherever I put my CPs it doesn't change the damage I receive, it's like I'm playing with 0 CPs.

Thanks Alcast and Scamandros on your responses. I hope Support provides an answer too since even the death recap screen tells me it's magick damage and tip is to add more resistance to magick.

Let me add, I also played with a toon with more than 20k physcal resistance and 1.4k critical resistance (all Black Rose heavy armor) and still the exact same thing; 8k damage from Entropic Bolt and Shock (with several CP combinations).

So, I can tell I tested and HIGHLY protected my toon against magick, shock and physical attacks and I'm still being hit with the same amount of damage on first boss, regardless what kind of protection I use.

Hope Support can check/test combinations to tell if its a game bug or my character is bugged, or something else.

I mitigate stage 3 boss damage though with channeled focus it works on the clawed swipe you mean? and a nova too. for example

There is nothing to test most of ESO passives are Broken. Nobody cares at ZOS, never gnna get fixed.

Do not bother, frustration is not worth it in vMA, it is designed for the elite cool kid build.

You need to animation cancel, at all time. (broken tactics to beat a broken game)

Do yourself a favor, and walk away from it.

I noticed this also..... kind of hard to beat it when only a few builds can do it.

Kinda hard to say classes are balanced when no matter what you do, it feels like your working against yourself

I know there are the support tickets, still, they could respond here as I'm not asking for a fix but an opinion if this may be an issue and if I should open a ticket.

They respond to a lot of worthless posts, even joke and meme posts, etc., but don't care to respond to a potential problem of an active customer?

@TotterTates, I'd really appreciate if you can test on your side. I already spent a lot of time and money changing character numbers (CPs mostly) to test. That's why I'm waiting, STILL, for Support response.

I can tell you that the passives do, in fact work... But I've noticed some strange things in the numbers, more testing is required before I post them.

Wasn't as simple as I thought. There were more factors than I realized! (These are marked by a *)

Here are the values I found. My sample sizes for each skill all fell within 15-25 hits.

Here are the resulting mitigation values.

As you can see, they are working. The reasons for the damage you are taking could be due to one of the two points marked by a * in the first image.

Just realized I put an extra "x" in Maxus... that's what I get for rushing the product

Also, I'm not 100% positive about the exact details of the Necrotic Essence mechanic.

@TotterTates, that was a great work and time invested on obtaining and presenting the data. I really appreciate your time and help.

I will re-test as soon as it is possible and confirm it is my character then, since the damage I was getting was always close and above 8k, never around 6k due to using CPs on Hardy and Elemental Defender.

Still, I will re-test and, if possible, present proof with screenshots and so. Maybe a video too.

Once again, many thanks for your time and help, something that Support didn't care at all to provide.

I'm so sick of 90% of the passives and CP's being broken. Then they have to make content this hard, your game can't handle challenging content because it doesn't work properly!!!! Put that on a sticky note and staple it above each dev workstation. Yes staple the sticky note in case it falls off
