I care about the game too, which is precisely why I think real dragons should never be implemented.
I do care about this game a lot. Actualy I love this game. But I am free to flexibly flex the lore to any great idea. I loved the dragons in Skyrim, why not too here?
You do not need a dragonborn to kill a dragon. There can be some hidden dragons which the lore did not discover or already forgot. Ancient ones. What about that kind of story?for example
spoiler: they give magical buffs when killed
Even with the flexibility of lore, There is barely (if any) a lore backflip in existence that wouldn't seem cheap.
Dragon breaks, hidden dragons, forgotten caverns--all of them are hard to view as anything but a cheap form of pandering that at the same time gives damage and ridicule to large part of the TES fan base.
The only exception I could think of was if a single dragon was employed as a trial boss or something in a highly geographically isolated area. THAT can prove to be a skillful implementation of a dragon if they do it right. Hell, even the Titans are a kinda example of non-cliche dragon implementation.
But dragons as common as skyrim's dragons? Mountable dragons that players ride? Ludicrous. Crass. Crude.
well maybe not mountable, but I actually like your idea to implementing huge dragon bosses as trial bosses, awesome idea! But maybe even a new dungeon (a new undaunted daily), which would be far in the moutains and there would be a cave with a huge dragon boss at the end
. What do you say to that
?

That's really not true. In this era dragons are rare enough that ever seeing more than 1 or 2 in this game would be ridiculous, but they're definitely not thought to be extinct and legend. Even 300 years later they're known to still exist in small numbers, as Tiber Septim offered the surviving dragons protection in return for swearing fealty to him. There are a couple of dragons that we know for certain are still around in the time of ESO, and we also know for certain that there are a few more than the ones we know of by name, but only a few.catalyst10e wrote: »I care about the game too, which is precisely why I think real dragons should never be implemented.

Dragons are supposed to be thought extinct and legend. The idea of large group killing one cheapens the idea that they were thought of as myth. It's as @Zorrashi said, anything implemented is going to seem cheap and pandering, like a bad fan fiction. "well no one knew THIS Dragon... and his soul is in oblivion so he can be killed multiple times and come back... without needing Alduin to resurrect him... he also wipes your memory when you beat him so everyone forgets he exists."
IF you love this series as a whole you should be willing to respect the idea that Dragons are supposed to be these mythical beings. They were worshiped as gods! They shouldn't just be tossed in. The fractures it could cause in the lore goes well beyond "There weren't Dragons during the second Era".

That's completely, completely wrong. The Akaviri invasion of Tamriel by the Dragonguard in 1E 2703 was specifically to hunt down the dragons of Tamriel (as they had been hunting and killing the dragons of Akavir for some time). The Dragonguard continued to hunt and kill dragons under the Dragonborn Emperors, and even after being officially disbanded. Under the Akaviri Potentates some continued to hunt dragons well into the second era:catalyst10e wrote: »That's really not true. The last time a Dragon is seen is in the LATE Merethic Era, during the Dragon Wars. Dragons do not make any sort of appearance and are not mentioned until Tiber Septim gets their assistance, and after they are used, they're hunted down. So it's been... what? 3000 plus years since the Dragons were ever known, and 500 plus years before another one will be seen. Theres literally been more time without dragons between the Dragon War and Tiber Septim gaining nafaalilargus then there's been since Tiber Septim using Dragons and the Dragonborn fighting Alduin.
Herein is recorded the list of known dragons, both living and dead, including those slain by the Dragonguard since the time of its founding, as well as those slain in earlier ages, where they can be identified. Unfortunately, only a few of the dragons slain by our Akaviri predecessors during the Crusade were recorded and thus this list is sadly incomplete.
Deceased by Report
Nahagliiv - Local tales name him as the dragon buried in the mound west of Rorikstead. No date associated with his death, although almost surely dates to the Dragon War era.
Odahviing - Records dating to the Crusade of interrogation of captured Dragon Cultists indicate that this dragon was buried in a mound in the southeast of Skyrim, near Riften.
Sahloknir - Local legends claim this is the dragon buried in the mound near Kyne's Grove, slain by the Nord hero Jorg Helmbolg in the First Era.
Viinturuth - Death dating back to Dragon War era, according to documents recovered from Dragon Cult temples which record his burial near Lake Yorgrim.
Vuljotnaak - Death dating back to Dragon War or just after, according to recovered Dragon Cult documents, which record his burial in a mound near Granite Hill.
Slain by the Dragonguard
Grahkrindrog - Slain in 2E 184 after perpetrating great slaughter in Winterhold and Eastmarch. Name confirmed with assistance from the College mages.
Krahjotdaan - Slain in 1E 2871 in the southern Jerall Mountains, name confirmed by the dragon's own account.
Unnamed Dragons - Numbering 12, as recorded in the Annals dating back to the founding of Sky Haven Temple.
Known to Live
Ahbiilok - Sightings dating back to the early years of the Dragonguard throughout the northern Jerralls. Multiple attempts to kill him have failed. He is believed to be lairing somewhere in Morrowind.
Mirmulnir - Last sighted in the Reach in 2E 212.
Nahfahlaar - Repeated alliances with mortal protectors which have prevented his elimination. His last known protector was the King Casimir II of Wayrest, which the Dragonguard successfully ended in 2E 369. He escaped and current location is unknown.
Paarthurnax - The legendary lieutenant of Alduin in the Dragon War. He is now known to lair on the Throat of the World under the protection of the Greybeards of High Hrothgar. Master Araidh continues the established policy of avoiding direct confrontation with the Greybeards while waiting for an opportunity to exact justice upon him.
