Well at first the said weapon and shield dyes were gonna come together. Then they said weapon dyes be a few weeks after shield due to more unique weapon int he game. Now we have costume dyes confirmed for Thieves guild update and nothing on weapon dyes now.

Wait what? Where did they confirm costume dyes?

Think it was the last ESO live during a QnA thing. Some one asked "can we dye costumes" and the replied yes.

With all this customization we should keep in mind, that - my guess - most players want a lore-friendly appearance of characters. The last I want to see in ESO are anime like skinny female school girl characters who wield huge and heavy weapons with ease while having no muscles to do so. If someone does that in his private single-player game is one thing, but in an MMO, where hopefully most players want some kind of immersion into the game world, this would just be weird to see.

Let's not convert ESO into a korean style anime game.

Dying weapons would be great, then I could finally match my sword to my outfit! This giant, bright red blade just does NOT match when I go deep blue or green, yanno?

I agree, some kind of de-saturating dye - kind of a bleach - would be great to have to get rid of such extreme colors.

For those wanting a steel look for their v16, do what I did. I crafted a rubidite glass greatsword. I had the opposite effect you guys did. I liked the green sword on my vet 9 and was shocked to see it was now silver on vet 16.

It has a small green strip through the center. But otherwise looks silver.

Also, I had a vet 15 before and when I made it 16 I could clearly see a sharper more pearlescent color to the handle. If you have a v16 sword make a v15 of the same and compare. I know it's true by doing the same for myself

So instead of just letting characters dye weapons and shield while doing this update, it gets extended to shields only?

I guess obvious solution isn't always obvious.

Well to be honest i have never like idea off dye weapons or shield for it dont fit with feeling off little reality in the game for basic craft item is this game take the color off alloy and there fore the item get that color which is how it work in real life and it how it have been work in ESO as well up to now which i think was one cool thing of the game.

Take the Xivkyn which is good example it use Charcoal which gave the item it black color which i think is really cool.

    Ok. Since necromancy is involved...

This thread was in response to shield, I.E. one variation of handed equipment getting choice driven coloration.

So on the Xyvkin stuff. You can dye xyvkin armor. Should that be exempt? Xyvkin is also affected by base metal type. So my v16 Xyvkin Kryten-esque chest piece has a red hue as its base.
Dyeing equipment gives customization power to the player for purely cosmetic reasons.

You don't want to dye your equipment, it is optional. For people that do, they can. Ever hear of weapon black? That is a real world case as well as coloration of steel. There are steel producers that make blue steel. While some of these techniques were developed in "modern day," they are technically possible. Additionally, in the case of shields, which are wooden based, lacquers, stains, etc. can be used to change the colors of wood.

As this game advances, they will add more colors that have varying luster, hue and chrominance.

If the ability to dye weapons was added and you wanted a steel looking weapon, then you could make it Cyrodiilic Steel or any of the other Steel colors available.

You want tackle things that look weird and technically have an effect on gameplay? Costumes in PvP. Servant's Outfit prevents your opponent from telling what type of equipment you are wearing and you still get the full benefit of your armor. If you are disguised as a servant and wearing cheap clothes, then why should you get the benefit of armored protection?

Is it worth changing that? No, there are much more useful changes that could be made to the system.

Weapon Dyeing would add additional cosmetic customization for those who are interested in doing so. That is all. Making the argument that it is lore breaking/reality breaking etc. should therefore prevent or stigmatize dudes from wearing wedding dresses and players running around in the nude.

So while you may not be interested in it, others may. It is opt in.
Due to a typo in the system, the area was accosted by the Daedric Prince Moar Lag Brawls.
