Ok so I'll soon be level 50 with my one and only Char, with the vet ranks going soonish what would you do at 50 right now, at end game I plan on pvp-ing mainly so some direction I should take would be a good help for when I reach 50 in 2 days time.

Thanks in advance

That depends on what you like and how fast you want to hit V16.

May be a spoiler for some people:
If you enjoy the questing and leveling at a moderate pace, quest through the other alliances. This does take some time though.

If you want to hit V16 asap, then find a grind spot and grind to V16.

If you want to get into PvP and don't mind leveling really slow, then just hop into Cyrodiil and start killing everything

My suggestion is go through the other two alliance stories, silver and gold. You will need skill points for your first character at least.

"Soonish" may be 3rd quarter 2016, so not very soon. You will still need champion points to progress your character. I would suggest you hit at least the skill point quests and skyshards in Cadwells -- which will probably take you to near or at V10 and take about as long as getting to vet did in the first place -- and otherwise just continue doing the content you like.

Thanks for the advice it will help a lot, I thought that the loss of Veteran ranks might make a change to how you play after hitting level 50 but it feels like the same leveling experience post 50 just with a different name then?

We don't know yet. Until ZOS shares details, we're just guessing.

Well hopefully it will open up the zones so you can play whatever ones you want.

With your first character tho, I'd definitely go for all the questline skill points, skyshards etc and keep leveling skills you might need. Plus, you will start earning CP which is what you will need most in the future when VR goes away.

Just start racking up champion points. They carry over in some made up formula they have.

Personally I hope they get rid of the CP system too.

Plus, vet ranks disappearing is pretty irrelevant to a first character. You still need to start collecting CP.

This is the way I would suggest as well.
Skyshards, quest skill points, mages guild books... all those come en passant during cadwells, and all those are useful.
As things stand now, for veteran ranks (and accompaning c-points) cadwells will get you to V14 just doing all the questing, and wrothgar will likely take you the rest to V16, and there are still the cyrodil dailies and of course (blech) grinding...

However, if you really want to make the most of it, and have a good chunk of gametime available, you might decide to play your main character each day until enlightment runs out, and then work on building up any alts you might want to try, levelling them until they get close to 50, then leaving then sit there for a bit, awaiting the final phase of the champion system when all post-50 advancement will be on c-points and they will be able to "inherit" gear from your main... getting them an instant powerup to your mains level, in a way.

Remember, when they implement the final phase of the champion system, they have stated you will also get a bonus c-point boon to raise your CP total to your highest character vet rank × 10, (or whatever the gear calculations will be), to be able to use your gear even if your c-points arent at that stage yet, which will then apply to all your characters as soon as they hit 50, meaning they can in effect go from level-49 gear to whatever veteran rank gear your main reached to that point... Though between enlightment and the catchup mechanic, I wager therere shouldn't be too much troubles racking up a nice pile of c-points until the switch happens anyhow...

If the switch to c-system happens later, then you may just keep playing through veteran country one way or another to rake in c-points.
