My main complaint of the game. Too easy.

Lost track how many times I have brought this up here and on other mmo websites. It is nearly impossible to get mmo friends to join this game because there is almost no content worth doing even as a pair (a very, very small percentage of the game supports team based play early on).

NO! I completely disagree with this, I can't even get past the temple quest where you have to get past the torch bearers and then the boss to get a key. The boss absolutely murders me and then again some bosses in the 3 starting zones for levels 1-24 are difficult enough, even some basic enemies are hard. I don't need it more difficult, and I certainly don't need another Dark Souls 2 where I can't even complete the first quest, because it's so difficult.

1 or 2 difficult boss fights (in forced solo instances mostly) is not a measure of how difficult the game is. Those fights can be adjusted. The rest of the game is unbelievably boring at times because of how easy it is.

I kinda like the IC difficulty but always think reward must equal challenge. It's nice to need to think tactics and not spam an AOE attack to kill everything but even saying this I get my assets handed to me on veteran maelstrom

I recently brought a level 3 mule to Wrothgar to help a friend record a video. The character had a tutorial weapon and one piece of tutorial gear. No CPs allocated. Soloing multiple mobs wasn't difficult.

The original difficulty of VR content in ESO was decent. It forced players to learn the game systems, at least. The outrage about it was incredible. So it was nerfed to the point that content could be completed without armor or the use of abilities.

Been running in Orisinium since it released and cant help be want more difficulty.

The character I am using is a boosted level 34 and my health regenerates faster than mobs can do damage ( even fighting 3-5+ my health barely moves ) even the 1 pip mobs do little damage.. I can understand some not being the best players and not wanting extreme difficulty on the solo content but this is a bit overboard on the easy meter currently. IMO.

This reminds me of "speed limits are ridiculous, because my car goes 300 mph" - you can always not boost your character and use less sophisticated gear, while a casual player, who has not all day to play, because he has family and a job, cannot simply raise his combat skills nor does he have the time to train all day long how to use those skills effectively.

Games are catered for casual players because those are the guys who actually dumb money into the game, because they do not have the time for grinding and buy convenience items from the cash shop. You cannot blame a company for catering to those who actually maintain the game with RL money and buy stuff from the cash shop on a regular basis.

Difficulty where it was in Sept - Oct 2013 would be great but not sure if ppl could survive. Def grinding would be non-existent.

If you are bored of the easy difficulty i suggest you go soloing in imperial city. Not only are the mobs a lot tougher (balanced for group play), there is also the threat of enemy players who i guarantee won't be doing so little damage to you that your health will out-regenerate it easily ;)

Cannot choose between agree and awesome!!

If you want difficulty use the groupfinder and do all groupdungeons scaled to VR16. I guarantee you won't complain about the game being too easy after that.

It seems like some have taken this and jumped all the way to thinking that I said I wanted extreme difficulty. That isnt the case at all. As it stands it is a cake walk ( especially Orsinium - I am not interested in IC since PvP run ins is not a big interest of mine ) where you really have to intend to die and even then it is difficult for it to happen.

People have asked how many CP you have, you didn't answer. Also, that is the downside of being 'experienced', is that some content will feel easy, for you, but may not be easy for those without experience or who just aren't as skilled.

They removed the option to disable battle leveling when Orsinium came out.

Apologies I didnt see that question. I have Zero CP. ( casual player since release top level is the level 34 Sword / Shield DK in the OP )

Out of curiousity, how much health regen do you have with and without battle spirit?

I will have to look. ... 268 normal and 517 boosted.

Group content wise group dungeons have always felt pretty well balanced in terms of difficulty.

In certain situations the scaled version bosses can be annoying especially when you are the only that can live through more than a couple hits. I was in a Banished Cells group and everyone but myself was being one shot by the wraith boss. That group didnt last long.

Well, the game wouldn't be hurt from them teaming up a little bit from time to time, I soloed everything with a sub-par build back when things were actually a challenge, and well, if people can't even bother to put on a healing skill to save themselves, then they just need to learn to do so, it's not rocket science to do so, even casuals can do it. And it's an MMO, there's people around in case you need help.

Well of all the durn... ratsafratsa...

    Okay then, fight naked.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

This is the Cycle of MMOs.

Some players get really good, learn all the tricks, min/max things, get all the best gear - then demand more difficulty.

Usually they start getting it, often because they're the players that put the most money into a game. That pushes new/casual players back and often out.

Eventually the game dies from lack of players (or is overtaken by newer games), and the same players move there and do the same thing.

Some kind of Difficulty Servers and/or handicapping might help - but I don't think handicaps are ever really used. Some games have more granularity in their difficulty settings, but that's a lot harder to do in an MMO.

Well, back at release I wasn't anywhere near good, lol. Yet I still managed to solo dolmens etc with my character, but the difference is, that it was fun back then, it was a challenge. Nowadays with the 8-10k hp adds in gold I can go through AoEing and all falls over dead before it touches me. I think it'd do the game good to have not everything fall over just by looking at it.

I continue to be amazed at players saying, "I remember back when I did xxx in ESO and it was a challenge back then"... yes, you are now an experienced player and of course content now is going to be easier, but NEW PLAYERS coming to ESO who either have never played an MMO, are casuals, or who just don't have uber skills... is still going to find content difficult, especially at level. Also keep in mind that not everyone wants a game to be a 'challenge', many players just love coming in and doing quests, without everything being challenging. As other players have stated in this thread, those who want more difficult content are in the minority... and in today's competitive MMO and game market, a game cannot afford to alienate the majority, who are casual players.

As I said in another related topic, mob difficulty outside of group dungeons, MSA, DSA and trials, should get looked at and increased, because this screenshot speaks for itself.

    pWquoNh.jpg

My lvl 11 Sorc with mix-matched gear; ranging from common medium, light and heavy armor and 300 CPs, managed lvl 38 mobs. :grey_question: ^^

You might think "well, blame Champion Points!" and I'd suggest Zenimax looking at the data of how many CPs the average player has (it was around 90, a month or-so ago,) to then tweak mobs' difficulty, although I know that wouldn't be fair for the new players, and I know automatic mob-scaling will make terrible game performance, so..

How about a difficulty option? like in Skyrim.

Doesn't help...you can solo wrothgar (except bosses...vet-maelstrome could be possible...i think there is one guy who tried this) without any gear/weapons...and won't have any problems if you use the right skills and know how to play...
So yes, it's definitely to easy!
