It's not pointless. I can tell you for sure that it is keeping some people from playing this game. Call it complaining to ask for a basic needed feature all you want. You seem to be doing an awful lot of complaining about people complaining yourself though.
Its pointless...people decided to buy a game that didn't offer features they claim are required for them to enjoy the game.
Whose fault is that? - the buyer
he same 700+ people....
its a forum so if a topic is labelled those who relate to it will respond to poll. Its lts say 1000 ppl out of 1 - 2 million console accounts. Mathematically is less than 2% and considering the solution lies on PC, its hardly preventing anyone from enjoying this game.
Now if someone cant afford a PC and is not willing to sale or part with their console, then that person or those people have the right to choose how they want to spend their entertainment dollars and time. They can even ask the dev to change but...the devs have responded.
So now its fine to discuss but to use the discussions as a basis to why ZOS needs to give those less than 2% what they want....that is a waste of those persons' time based on previous events and dev responses.
Why would anyone spend their free time complaining and trying to make a dev do what they want....the most powerful influence is money...stop buying stuff that isn't what you like. That will move mountains...not forums discussions.
Thats the best advice I can offer...vote with your wallet
And yet the poll is a completely random sampling of the community. Polls are used on a regular basis because sampling an entire population is simply not plausible. Furthermore, ZOS posts information on the forums all of the time; if the audience was as limited as your claim wouldn't this be a waste of time compared to providing in-game information? In the end the forums and their general, albeit limited, opinion is valuable. Discounting it simply because you disagree with it only proves that you disagree, nothing more.
Let's not forget that ZOS had a poll about AoE caps and then disregarded the results from that poll (which were overwhelmingly against having AoE caps added). Part of the reason ESO is in such a bad sate is because ZOS did not listen to even a limited portion of their community. Small samples can obviously be more biased than large ones but when such polls have the same results each and every time then there is some merit to their results; ignoring the results when they are so one-sided would be the only mistake.

This is not a ZOS poll...most forum polls are not ZOS polls.
When ZOS wants our opinions, they sent an email which has us log in our forum or game info, using the email address and asks specific questions. Thats not what is going on so unless its a PTS forum where ZOS is taking feedback while we test, its usually just random threads and topics with only personal agendas such as this.
ZOS did ask in the console beta forums on this topic...they took feedback, sent the email I described and later shared their decisions. That is where the radial text chat emotes came from
Lets not argue about what is, but we can discuss...cool?

I have to ask... do you honestly feel that an official ZOS poll on the subject of console text chat would produce results that are any different than the player-created ones? This sounds to me exactly like what happened with AoE caps.

For the same reason anyone would spend their free time relentlessly replying to any post that disagrees with them on text chat for the console versions of Elder Scrolls Online?
I'm informing people on what has been shared...
its also interesting how you and others perceive my points of view as having some direct impact on what desires you want the devs to offer. Notice the comments to the post above, they user was informed and found my comments helpful..
this type of stuff is nothing more than off topic arguing and can even fall into baiting another forum user. lets not do that
Just want to say i agree on her with this.
I completely disagree with her and she obvioisly does the same, i try to compromise though, and she does too.
She just brings points and facts or compromises etc, shes not the one insulting others because they have a different point of view and shes definitely not selfishly defending her no to be pure non text chat, as i said, she gives compromise for both parties.
You are basically saying the rest of us are suffering from some sort of mass hysteria. No. Public perception has been voiced and whether you like it or not public perception carries some weight. Whatever her motivations are is irrelevant. They come across as self serving, arrogant, and even down right trolling in some cases. If you hold her with high regard as you appear to it may be time for an intervention. Otherwise I suggest distancing yourself.

I agree to a point, i jumped the gun so far but ive seen people be far more disrespectful, and i just see it going that way.
Then of course ZOS pops in eventually saying "we understand people may disagree from time to time blah blah blah" which always pisses me off.
Anyways, shes also voicing her point of view...shes not trolling, and its not self serving if shes coming up with other alternatives to work for both parties.
Im just saying, and why zos hasnt tried to phase in something to try out to see of we should get an actual, good, text chat is beyond me.
You kinda have to also remember zos likes to do their own thing.
the only thing i can agree with is that shes right when it comes to us being a small majority of the total players and i definitely see a bias, wouldnt people on forums be more inclined to text chat than people who dont? I mean hell some of peoples main reason to coming here is for text chat, and i hate to say this poll, with such a large bias, is hard to look over.
Im not holding her with high regard, im just saying shes not necessarily wrong
Argueing back and forth is pointless until we can get an in game poll, because honestly, you guys are just repeating what have been said 1000 times lets come up with something new and original yeah? Maybe an alternative way to at least get a community reaponse from people.
I suggest if zos isnt going to give a poll, we could try to work as a community maybe.
When ever my guild does a clean up, they tell people to update their profile and to say if they are staying, so how about we get in contact with guild leaders and next time they do a clean up, let them make a poll and next time they are looking through peoples profile, they take talley marks and at the end report the results here.
If zos isnt going to show any care, we have to do it and i think what i suggested above is the easiest, espcially since guild leaders usually come on forums for recruit.
