Console: Should text chat be implemented with the IC patch?

  • Dcoy

    Yes
My self and 2 other close friends, all qued for the same dungeon at the same time yesterday, we did it individualy to see if we would be paired together, it was well over an hour before we gave up the expreiment and joined each other manualy! Then we waited for one extra player from 10am till about 4:00 pm.

Text chat would make such a difference to this game. Very few players appear to use their headsets, and for myself I prefer to play in a playstation party with friends, as im sure many others do.
The voice chat feature on its own simply doesnt work very well. If the option to have a text window up was added it would suplement these other features greatly. Final fantasy online has a huge player base, and the text chat feature within that game works just as well as pc based mmos.

Looking at the various polls people have made on the topic it is clear that a vast majourity want to see this feature.
Is it possible zenimax you could let us know what your thoughts are on the topic?

I have friends that are deaf so only having voice chat as an option is incredibly annoying. I guess ZOS didn't take a lecture in Accessibility in Game Design.

Noticed the crowns sale on the Xbox store and logged to see if there's fun to be had in the game these days. Well, it's still an ugly singleplayer RPG with a lot of useless NPC's (players apparently) running around.

And how the hell am I supposed to join a guild? Where to find those guilds and how to contact a guild master for an invitation? Is there a way to communicate with the other players?

Tried joining the area voice channel - there was only one player besides me. Apparently all other had voice comm turned off.

No text chat = fake MMORPG = no crowns purchase.

The main reason we need this on console is that the game economy is ridiculous without having a good means of communication for sales.

I've never played another MMORPG. I'm fine with text chat as a tool as long as I can hide it otherwise or it can be channel specific, like my guild chat. I assume that's already a thing and would be included. I just don't need to be reading little kid b.s. while trying to enjoy my game.

Haven't played Eso in over three months, probably longer than that. Thought i'd pop on here to see if anything had changed regarding the text chat and grouping on consoles. Obviously not, might as well delete this poor excuse for an mmo off my playstation, boggles my mind how bad this all is....

Exactly, you would think after 100's of threads they could reply to atleast one.

For example, they managed to find the time to comment on this thread.

Makes you wonder doesn't it? If there are this many threads and people saying the same thing... Maybe there is a reason for it?

And yes, they "can" reply to this thread, they just haven't.

It doesn't make me wonder at all..we all heard ZOS' decisions and to be honest, all those threads have the same ppl in them. Just more of the same discussions that have been going on since April....its pretty pointless for forum discussions at this point. Just more of threads for points of reference to new players.

People still feel that if they complain or whine, they will get their way....sad but that's all this is. The internet is full of it

Not enough radials especially in a game with no text chat. Even if we had more radial options it would be ineffective because of the limited space on the radial menu.

Where are these and why aren't they available? I could think of dozens more if I had the time.

Honest question....do you play the game

Most of those are on there
some aren't necessary due to others that exist and the later maybe...but if you didn't realize they were there....you're not using whats offered. People just talk....these are really offered to initiate voice coms when someone may have their off.

These are in the social menu...on xbox its really quick to access, start, x...pick

I'm sure there mine a couple that are on there as I don't have the game open in front of me but I know many very basic ones are not. its a forum so if a topic is labelled those who relate to it will respond to poll. Its lts say 1000 ppl out of 1 - 2 million console accounts. Mathematically is less than 2% and considering the solution lies on PC, its hardly preventing anyone from enjoying this game.

Now if someone cant afford a PC and is not willing to sale or part with their console, then that person or those people have the right to choose how they want to spend their entertainment dollars and time. They can even ask the dev to change but...the devs have responded.

So now its fine to discuss but to use the discussions as a basis to why ZOS needs to give those less than 2% what they want....that is a waste of those persons' time based on previous events and dev responses.

Why would anyone spend their free time complaining and trying to make a dev do what they want....the most powerful influence is money...stop buying stuff that isn't what you like. That will move mountains...not forums discussions.

And yet the poll is a completely random sampling of the community. Polls are used on a regular basis because sampling an entire population is simply not plausible. Furthermore, ZOS posts information on the forums all of the time; if the audience was as limited as your claim wouldn't this be a waste of time compared to providing in-game information? In the end the forums and their general, albeit limited, opinion is valuable. Discounting it simply because you disagree with it only proves that you disagree, nothing more.

Let's not forget that ZOS had a poll about AoE caps and then disregarded the results from that poll (which were overwhelmingly against having AoE caps added). Part of the reason ESO is in such a bad sate is because ZOS did not listen to even a limited portion of their community. Small samples can obviously be more biased than large ones but when such polls have the same results each and every time then there is some merit to their results; ignoring the results when they are so one-sided would be the only mistake.
