but then again gankers are trash players. i find joy in killing bannanas and getting messages over xbl saying how bad i am.

I don't think, that removing AP from the IC would change the ganking behavior, there are still tel var stones to farm from players, and even if this would be removed, some people like to gank others, that is part of a griefer mentality. They do not want to engage in a fair fight, but just grief others. Neither removal of AP nor of the loot would change that IMO.

I like the part when they stop moving :)

I don't care for Cyrodil PvP, but I think IC would be a great (and potentially even fun for me) PvP zone if there were lots of PvP going on with alliance objectives. All those close quarters and choke points, with the roving bosses that can wipe groups and might force alliances to temporarily cooperate? A different kind of PvP altogether, wrapped up in the same game.

Or, if it were a PvE zone, it would at least be useful for grinding; the XP is good plus the trophies. Arena is kinda fun, but way too easy, especially compared to the group dungeons.

Instead, it's neither fish nor fowl and is half baked. The whole TV currency addition is just pointless. The PvErs only want them to buy potency runes and maybe mats that are more easily obtained in Wrothgar. The gankers don't want them other than a way to keep score. Frankly it's so easy to gank players after they are sitting on no resources from fighting a boss or portal, it's not even being a stealth assassin, it's just kinda pathetic.

ZOS tried to please too many people and dropped the ball. They had a great PvE DLC in the pipe; IC should have been straight PvP with a dueling arena.

Ganking makes the PVP zones exciting. I like how it is unsafe to stay unstealthed anywhere in the PVP zones.

I get ganked a lot & have lost a ton of telvar stones. It taught me to play more stealthily (even as a DK) & to check rooms for gankers before wiping the mobs. I prefer to travel in a group with everyone on voice comms so we can work together better if gankers attack.

I definitely don't blame the gankers for trying to gank me... it's a PVP area & they are doing exactly what PVP is about... killing enemy players!

    Hi All:

I was wondering if there were others out there who found the whole practice of ganking shameful. Essentially, people will form small teams and go around sneaking up on people in the Imperial Sewers, stealing the tel var stones they have taken time to farm out (instead of farming it out themselves). For the most part, I've tolerated it, seeing it as an inevitable part of being in IC, a PvP area, but should it be so? I was thinking maybe gankers needed to be exposed. Would having a public ganker blacklist be something that could effectively control the problem? At the very least, maybe this would allow karma to take its toll, meaning ganking the gankers.

P.S. I apologize if I've broken some forum norm with this post. I'm sure there are others on this topic, but I am looking for constructive feedback (not slander).

I don't gank since it's not my nature, but I do farm IC. I think that we need gankers for a few reasons listed below, even though they make me mad sometimes.

    1) Without gankers, IC would be overrun by farmers. It's far more annoying to have someone suddenly start farming your area when you only need 5 more Monsterous Teeth than dealing with any gankers.

    2) Gankers add an element of suspense. I farmed IC in Axe when EP totally owned it, and it was super-boring. I may as well have been in an Orsinium delve grinding for an Ancient Orc chapter.

    3) I take great pleasure in killing gankers. It's very fulfilling to kill someone when they totally deserve it.

    4) Gankers feed me AP. Of course I lose telvar whenever I get surprised by 2-3 gankers while I am fighting mobs. But then they better start running, because I am DEFINITELY coming back to get them.

In summary if the above doesn't make sense to you, you probably shouldn't be in IC. You can still farm the PVE areas and make more than enough gold to buy whatever you want out of IC.

    Meh a typical day for me when I'm bored;

Go to ic. Climb eleven gardens and hit blue base. Kill a few take their few hundred stones and head to vamp orcs. Kill more and hit 1k stones. (If by now I haven't been Zerg balled to death) go suicide/use Sigil. Bank and repeat with red. Then blue then red then blue. After 2 hours make ard 10k++ stones buy mats sell on guild stores. Profit :D

Also most of the time I'm alone. And I Attack from stealth cos most likely Farmers are in groups of 3-10. Need stealth + hit and run tactics to even the odds. If u get jumped when ur alone farming by 3 gankers my heart my goes out to u. Not fun... But this is war and ur in a war zone lol.

Im not fan of the current system, where gankers has nothing to lose and ganked has everything, it just promotes solo playing and suicide attacks. And this comes from ganker, Ive ganked easily 2+ mill TS, why shouldnt we have a risk to lose something too, I dont like to kill someone, loot TS, kill myself, go to bank, store, go back to kill someone, and repeat everything again. Simply said, current system is boring for ganker.

You are not the only one. Unwritten rules are going by the wayside where treating others how you yourself would like to be treated are becoming a thing of the past

not a big surprise, given the trash that passes for leadership in modern society. bloody fekking shame, is that.

but it's an entirely different discussion and i've no wish to derail the thread.

gankers aren't going anywhere, but it can be quite rewarding, and educational, to try and hunt them while farming stones and trophies.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I really liked your point of view @Stanko.

@Nifty2g, even though your comment seemed a little mean, you did teach me a valuable lesson about being open-minded to other play styles. I just happen to think that people who get pleasure from taking the stones that others have worked really hard to acquire is shameful because of the way that I like to play in IC, minding my own business and enjoying the content. Not everyone plays like that, and I shouldn't expect people to see eye-to-eye with me. I also really like to grind out Champion Points in IC, but if anyone has any alternatives to suggest, I welcome them! I should get out of IC and save myself a headache.

For all the people who admitted to being gankers on the thread, maybe yall can offer us gankees some tips for staying alive. I run mostly on a vet 16 templar designed to do mostly PvE healing. My DPS is ok. Good enough to solo any of the minor mobs in the sewers. Even when I see an approaching enemy, I'm down before I can even get a single skill in (usually a NB in stealth). If I see caltrops on the ground, I lose all hope. T.T

Keep your buffs up at all times, roll through the sewers with someone that has access to caltrops. Having that covering the area you're farming will stop those surprise attacks and actually deters a few *** bag Nightblades because they can't sneak up for those high damaging heavy attacks from stealth (disclaimer: Not all of them).
Alternatively, if you have a sorc, have them plant mines near the pipe entrance. If you're in the middle of a large room, caltrops is really better.
Save your ultimates. Don't waste them on mobs. Keep them handy as a panic button if you're getting ganked. Try not to use too much stamina when grinding. I see so many people needlessly roll dodge around when they don't need to, then when they get surprised attack from stealth they can't break free in time.
Remember, a ganker will usually have full resources when they start on you, so you want to try and even the playing field as much as possible.
Run in a group, and have someone do some light dps, but use them as a scout to carefully watch the exits and plant caltrops every time they expire. You could go really hardcore and have one person follow around in stealth so they can jump on the ganker the second they approach. Though it'd be a pretty boring job

All of that may be overkill for some. Just stay alert and keep your buffs up at all times. Made about 600 stones? Suicide at the strongest mobs available, bank your loot and get back out there. Sure it's more travel time with a lower amount of stones, but you're decreasing risk and the peace of mind is worth it.

Ganking upsets me and it's not something I ever do myself but I'm trying to accept that it's how some people want to play and it's fun for them.
What I really HATE though is when they attack when I'm at like 10% from mobs/boss. It's not even a semblance of a fair ight then, not even a fighting chance. You can/should stay on your toes the whole time you're in PvP zone and possibly kill the gankers themselves(that is always fun  ) but there's NOTHING you can do if you're at 10% health and get that surprised attack for 10k+.
