PLEASE eta for vet rank removal

We know that vet ranks are gonna get removed for good. I know that many people out there aren't comfortable with grinding all the way to vet 16
(most people) and this makes the option of having alt characters less useful as days go by. Can we please have an ETA on when this is going to happen? @ZOS_GinaBruno

They said over a year ago that veteran ranks will be removed... eventually. This is not something that they are now doing because people are complaining.

Silly folk, the grind is not going away just switching to champion points.
I have a wife a son and a company, but if I could not find the time to enjoy myself in things I also
like to do I would be a sad person.
Luckily my wife and son play ESO also. lol

I could be miss informed (it wouldn't be the first time), but I thought in a recent ESO Live, they said the Vet Ranks would be removed with the drop of the next DLC in Q1.

People are complaining that it takes months and months to level to VR16.

I thought that when I first did it, trying to complete each vet zone on my main, tinkering with alts, etc etc....

Then I started a character from scratch and leveled him to VR16, solo, in a little over a week. I also completed the main story line, guild quest lines and all silver/gold quests along the way. I also leveled all crafting, except provisioning, so I could gather effectively in Orsinium. I was amazed at how easy it was. I still did dailies on my main and alts as well. Oh, I also earned plenty of those CPs that we all need anyway.

Honestly, the biggest time sink was the main story line to 50. The quest dialogue, having to finish cold harbor etc.

EDIT: In fairness I should state that I took advantage of ZOS's XP scroll special on Black Freda. I was rarely without the xp buff.

Silly folk, the grind is not going away just switching to champion points.

The big difference is that champion points are account-wide, while veteran ranks are not.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I believe, in current discussion disclosed, that you'll still need to earn CP achievement to unlock attribute and skill points per character. Something along the lines of 10 CP per achievement or the same xp as a VR.

I could be wrong, but that was my cursory understanding.

True, but then there is also the acquisition of all those mats and gear to outfit all those alts.
MMO's are meant for long term play you don't have to get there in a month or even a year.

So your argument against vet ranks boils down to "I have a life". That is disrespectful and dismissive of other players. Everybody has a life outside of the game. Many of us have families, jobs, mortgages and responsibilities. I have all of those, and multiple v16 toons. And I couldn't even imagine having time to play 10 hours per day.

You'll always be "behind" players that take the game more seriously than you do. This will still be true when vet ranks are removed, it will just have a different structure. You can't realistically expect a game to make you equal to a player that dedicates more time and effort than you do.

I'm self employed with a wife and 5 kids. A life isn't optional for me, its life. The game is still a game and I was able to level that fast because I made the decision to do so.

If you have a goal in the game, make the decision to do it, how you want to do it and how quickly, within reason. Don't complain because others do it faster or slower or whatever. Its a game, hobby, an enjoyment. If its not at least 2 of those things for you then you shouldn't be doing it.

    Yep, that's very true.

I don't mind the VR levels because I am always grinding for Champion Points anyway, so the ranks are sort of a side effect of gaining champion experience. It will be nice, however, to get ruby equipment (or whatever is the top mats when the VRs are removed) for decon with my lower VRs will be nice.

My objection to the vet levels is the content we have to go through. It would be nice if there was actually a story, a reason for us to go to the other alliances but there isn't. It's as if you never
    got your soul back.
I hate that. ZOS didn't think that through at all. It makes leveling alts redundant and I like leveling alts. I have 4 characters, 2 in DC, 1 in AD and 1 in EP which is as it should be. My Bosmer should not be in EP or DC helping there alliances unless there is a good reason for it.

I can understand that, though there is a story in each faction that you're kinda going through. One is to help that king guy that can't hardly help himself without you going into his dreams, but not before uncovering nefarious plague activities throughout his realm. The other is full of plotting ne'er do well noble and non nobles tying to take power etc through their known or unkown cooperation with nefarious characters.

You're constantly reminded or let known of your exploits in the story lines as you walk through the cities. "I heard you did something to the hound" "I heard you helped some queeny person" "I heard you helped king whatshisbeard".... Some were news to me, but realized them on the 2nd or 3rd time through.

It could be a little more tied together and I wish Molag Bal wouldn't threaten me after I've ruined his plans...

I wish I could find the forum post, but I swear one of ZEN's people said December '16 as their current target date, or last quarter of '16.

Of course this could just be a figment of my imagination. Like the nightmare I had attempting to gather mats from road kill...while dodge rolling traffic.

I have a life. I also have 6 characters, all vet ranked with 3 of them VR16. I play a few hours each evening and I have that time because I do not watch TV. I have played since launch and still subscribe. The removal of vet ranks makes me nervous for the simple reason that I do not see the point. I fail to see the difference of whether the level ceiling is called 66 or VR16. My question centers on how will armor, weapon, and crafting skills and mats will be handled. For example: I worked, saved and farmed hard in order to acquire VR16 gold set armor and weapons. When vet ranks are eliminated how will high level gear be handled?

Wow, just stop all the whining. You can do level 1 to VR16 in two weeks. Just avoid all quests except gold and silver at VR levels (and do main quest line only level 50 and below), and grind aoe spots. It just ain't that hard if you skip the 5 billion time-wasting quests.

You want 8 v16s? Those of us who have slightly more time to dedicate to this game should not have to deal with easy content just because you have a family and a busier life. Call of Duty recently came out, sounds like a fit for you.

You guys complaining about vr lvls going away are the ones who need to wake up. No matter how we got to this point, vr levels are going away. It's going to happen. It is a good thing. Having 2 separate max lvl of progression makes no since.

This way you still have to lvl to 50 and learn the class. Less likely for people to feel the need to grind to 50. Can lvl ALL your characters at once through the CP system. Getting tired of playing one character then switch to the other and continue to lvl ALL your characters at once.

You no longer have to do the silver/gold if you choose not to. With the catch up mechanic, no one will be behind for long. Its how it is going to be whether you like it or not. Play the game or grind. I would rather play the game. You can do what you want.

Why isn't grinding part of the game, it just annoys me that people who wanted to make alts had to grind/lvl etc... through vet ranks and now because people are too lazy to bother all the hard work people who have multiple characters put into them is worth nothing, You want a v16 through questing sure your choice it still takes effort so does grinding, do people thing leveling quickly is fun? No but people did it anyway because they wanted a v16 quickly.

Now people who didn't bother putting the time and effort in are going to get the same reward as people who did.

I’ve been away from the game for a while so didn’t know this was actually going to happen. Does this mean that our VR16 toons will just be converted to lvl 66? Seems like a bit of a rip off for people that went through the grueling grind to get to VR16. Seems like there should be some CP compensation too.

It was always planned to remove VR and leave the char progression to the CP system. We knew this already back in march or so. It's not something they decided recently. It's something that's just taking a lot of time. There is no reason to complain about it now.
