Why doesn't the One-Handed Weapon with 1H/S matter? (Edit: Suggested passive in comments below)

I've been tanking for a while and while I was making some new gear- I thought to myself, "Maybe I should make an axe with my shield... you know... for the bleed effect." But then it dawned on me- there is no version of "Twin Blade and Blunt" (dual wield passive) for 1H/S. So- it doesn't matter if you use a sword, mace, axe, or dagger with your shield. You get nada. Nothing. It's just for aesthetic pleasure, right?

Please- correct me if I'm wrong.

Also... just throwing this out there- maybe Zenimax should replace the last passive of 1H/S with an equivalent "Twin Blade and Blunt" passive. I don't really need to walk faster with my shield up... I usually just dodge.

I think they should add seperate passive that buffs the team or debuffs the target.

Sword/ Causes taunts last 10% longer
    Axe/ Snares the target.
Mace/ Reduces the targets armor for the team.
Dagger/ Increase the crit for all players if the target was taunted.

so if i look at boss which is taunted lets add... 2% crit just for him

People in pvp also woulf like to benefit from this so no.

Op: I just realised this, for like 10 minutes ago when in cyrodiil that weapon doesn't matter. Came to the forum and was going to make a thread about it and just saw this, what a coincidence
I mostly play dual wield and 2 handed so i thought I was ignoring people's armor with my ugly mace on one hand. Felt like a total noob.

Well, I don't necessarily think the passive should be group-oriented. (because other weapon's passives aren't group oriented)- but perhaps this would be a good suggestion:

Sword and Shield: Blocking has a 10% chance to increase base weapon/spell damage by 50 for 10 seconds.

Axe and Shield: Blocking has a 10% chance to cause a 500 point damage bleeding effect and slow the attacker by 30% for 10 seconds.

Mace and Shield: Blocking has a 10% chance to increase base physical/spell resistance by 500 for 10 seconds.

Dagger and Shield: Blocking has a 10% chance to increase spell/weapon critical strike rating by 5% and decrease damage received by critical strikes by 250 for 10 seconds.

Basically, tanks can choose between a little extra damage, a DoT with a debuff, a little extra resistance, or a crit buff. I tried to make the effects something that equates to Twin Blade and Blunt... but, instead, requires blocking to activate.

@Wrobel - Feel free to use my ideas. You're welcome, ESO.

The true difference lies in Champion Passives. If you use an Axe or Mace you get a boost from Heavy Weapon Expert, whereas Sword and Dagger goes with Blade Expert. Individually this means zilch but if your weapon swap is a 2hand for instance of the same category then that right there is where the true difference in what 1h you run lies! Beyond that, yes it is personal preference lol

Correct... but that applies to EVERYONE who puts points into it. It's not 1H/S specific.
