Solves PvPers complaining about PvEers hogging space and not participating, solves PvEers complaints about getting ganked by people who only target PvEers I don't see why the heck everyone is so opposed to this it won't affect anyone in a negative way (besides those who can only kill PvEers those guys have to git gud).

Just to clarify, it's not possible to target only PvEers because there is no way how to identify them.

    We can smell their fear.

Also if you go to cropsford and see some lvl 30ish sorc hardcasting c-frags on a mob, you kinda know.

In game 90% of content it's PVE. So... May be PVP versions of PVE Zones?

I'm almost purely PvE, but I believe if you want the objectives in a PvP area, then you have to bite the bullet, run in, and keep your head low. There's a thrill running around a PvP area constantly looking over your shoulder and listening for the sounds of combat to avoid bumping into opposing faction players.

Agreed. Just as I happily advocate a PVE version of Cyrodiil/IC I think having an open world pvp would be fantastic too.

I'd much prefer separate servers for consensual and open PvP.

Come to think of it, separate forums for PvE and PvP would be pretty cool too.

I'm kind of a noob in PvP but I don't think we need PvE Cyrodiil. There're some incenstives for PvE-ers to go in Cyrodiil, yes, and I think it's good. This way PvE crowd at least sometimes sorta kinda gets engaged in PvP and sometimes gets to like it and start doing it. Otherwise they'd just avoid PvP forever. It's part of the game we all bought, why not try it as well?

I find it kind of mean to attack PvE-ers though to be honest. I mean after a person rode all that distance to do this quest and now he's talking to this npc finally, must you really attack him? Or better yet, if he had to afk, is there really much glory in killing him?
Now when we're in IC, well that's different. And annoying as it sometimes is I'd say the random PvP element is what makes it best. It absolutely shouldn't be removed from there.

    Nah.
If you want to go do the PvE stuff in PvP town, then the danger of being PvPwned is the price of doing business there.
And I say that as someone who is a mere mediocre PvPer, and doesn't even like it much.

I mean, come on... the game has what now, 23 "zones", sort of (counting all the starter islands and IC as seperate zones), and 21 of them are PvE? And yet PvE-players find that's not enough??? Puh-lease...

If you want the stuff in cyrodil, go there, be careful, and you can get it all with only the occasional gankage. If you get ganked, just shrug, and move elsewhere to come back and finish what you were doing when gankage occured another time when the gankers may be elsewhere. Occasionally find some big PvP group to tag along with, even if its just running after them while thgey go for the scroll to grab the skyshard near the temple... that way you will get -everything- in cyrodil in time. Sometimes it can be annoying, but its quite doable.

And once your character has it all... you can always leave the place and never come back. Though personally I always do, even though I don't like PvP much, the feeling of -danger- while doing dailies and such is something I occasionally like to spice up my gaming...

god is this the new trend now all of a sudden?

this is like the third or 4th thread between here and Reddit that I've seen in the past few days talking about PVE-only Cyrodiil.

    no. just no.

Cyrodiil is fine as a PVP area, and it's a waste of time and resources to rehash an existing zone just because someone doesn't want to PVP. Cyrodiil has content in it, but it is for PVP. If you have no interest in PVP, then Cyrodiil is not for you. period.

PVPers are confined to ONE SINGLE ZONE in the entire game. If you don't want to PVP, you have ALL OF THE REST OF THE GAME WORLD to PVE in. I, personally, prefer it this way. I primarily PVE, but when I DO feel like some PVP, I can just go to Cyrodiil, and outside of that, I don't need to deal with PVP at all.

and even if they DID waste time doing this, it would NOT, AT ALL, be a "seperate" version of Cyrodiil, let's be real about this. It would be a REPLACEMENT for the current Cyrodiil, with all of the PVP being moved to instanced Arenas and/or Battlegrounds.

the time and resources that would go into a PVE Cyrodiil would be better spent towards NEW zones, NEW dungeons, NEW PVE story content and expanding into all of the rest of the PVE Gameworld yet to be explored.

please people, please stop trying to get your cake and eat it too. If you don't want to PVP just stay out of Cyrodiil.

    good grief.

Not so much the Imperial City, more Cyrodiil, although if a pve only version was released, that would be cool. Always hoped I'd get to venture around all the area's of Cyrodiil, as pve zones, hence my disappointment when the game came out. At least we are getting a couple of area's in future dlc.

Make a PvE Cyrodiil version, take out all the skyshards, no TVs or bloody claw et all in imperial city..

enjoy the content, not the rewards. you can keep the loot tables and xp.

I would go one step further and say a running storyline in the zone would be awesome. Quests to retake keeps for your faction, leading npc armies using siege equipment all those mechanics in a pve setting would be epic. Capture all the keeps then take IC ending with a fight against Molag's Simulacrum would be epic!

Pretty much this. If they actually turned the zone into a PvE zone with quests and NPC armies fighting to take the area that would be awesome.

I can't help but think that anyone who thinks this is a good idea hasn't done any of the PvE contant in Cyrodiil.

It used to be easy. Now it's absurdly easy. You'd be bored. There's not much depth to the content there.

I am the one who wrote the "PvE in Cydoriil" guide here in the forums about 2 years ago. There delves, repetitive go and fetch quests. The only frisson is that you might get stabbed while doing these activities.

When I first went to Cyrodiil in pre-release beta PTS I was level 50 and accidentally a vampire and snuck EVERYWHERE thinking an army would get me. That was fun. The first person I "fought" turned out to be afk. I felt soooo bad.

I literally crawled over every inch I could find before the game was released and enjoyed it, but there's not a lot to do there once it's all been explored.

I really thought I could get into the Blades flying castle. Turned out not to be the case, but I spent many hours trying to "trigger" that dolmen somehow.

I should be able to select PvE only and stand atop a keep playing my lute while the three armies do battle below. I role play exclusively as a conscientiously objecting bard, you can't tell me I can't
  • Bracteamentum
If you are having problems with completing PvE content in PvP areas than I would strongly recommend to switch your campaign.
Some are dominated by a certain faction, so you have very small problems to do all quests, Dolmen and collecting skyshards (even behind enemy walls).

You also get a lot of stuff and skillpoints when you improve your PvP ranks, so you should consider to to some PvP to get the most out of the game.

Look at skill and video guides to improve your class regarding PvP.

Cyrodiil would be very boring without the thrill that you could get ambushed by an enemy player.

In the main I agree with this because -I- enjoy doing it. My longest played MMO so far? Age of Conan on the RP PvP server. Open world PvP. No I was never great at PvP and there WERE times I would get really frustrated. But, overall, I loved it. I have had a lot of fun questing in Cyrodill because the kind of PvP I PREFER is that whole fun sense of looking over your shoulder while you try to get to your objective. BUT, and here's the thing, I know that's not for everyone and I know not being able to fully explore the game world WITHOUT PvP is really frustrating to a lot of players. Just as I know that being confined to a very narrow part of the world is frustrating to PvPers. And since it IS possible to cater to both playstyles and thus cut down on some of the unfortunate animosity between the two groups I think ZoS should consider doing it.

What about no? We allways need this easy meat to gank.

And this is pretty much why I really think ZOS SHOULD consider doing this. The sheer ugliness of attitude among much of the PvP community means that many who might otherwise be willing to explore it keeps a lot of folks from doing so. These just aren't the kind of people nice people want to play with.

One person... Out of all the pvpers that have responded so far. I doubt he'd be on the campaign you choose, on the opposing faction, or on the same platform...

The questing grounds in cyrodiil are dead for the most part. The ganking happens in IC and even that isn't as often as it used to be.

Please stop wasting zos's time with threads like this. I'd rather them read threads about "good" feedback on class balance or even ideas for NEW content.

I for one want to have a tame beasts skill tree to help in combat, an unarmed skill tree, battlegrounds, dueling, race change, new trials, and maybe even like a little box in your character sheet to write his or her backstory. I probably have more I want, but those are off the top of my head of things that are not in the game already.

Absolutely agreed! Indeed, of the two, I prefer the second choice because it leaves it open to everyone to participate in PvP activities any time they want. Which I believe would actually result in MORE PvP overall than creating 2 separate servers, one PvP only and one PvE only. After all, even we PvE nerds like to dabble in PvP on occasion. ;)
