PvP skills and passives

I'm on PC NA server
To begin, I'm expecting more than 75 percent of the responses to be sarcastic or L2P.
I have 6 v16 toons, to get my alliance war skill lines up, id have to pvp for 2-4 hours a day for a month, and I still probably wouldn't be quite there yet. That is for one toon. Please make this account wide, lower the ap for the next level, do something.
As it stands, to get magicka det, I have to sit in a lag infested server, just so I can have a chance at fighting some fair battles and not get steam rolled by 20 plus people. The only time I can consistently play is in the evening, and I live in north America. if anyone is familiar with that server, in the evening its mostly groups of 20+, and the lag in unbearable.
I really do enjoy this game, and PvP isn't sooo bad, as long as I don't Have to do it all day everyday for months.
I'm actually considering leaving the game because this is just too much for me

Keep in mind ill have to do this 6 times

well you spend 20 months to lvl 6 chars to v16, now spend 20 months to pvp and you will have on all of them magica detonation if you need it so desperatly.

I can get a toon from level 3 to v16 in 2 weeks, less than an hour a vet level, and I enjoy grinding. not so much when its grinding AP

lets say I kick butt and get 50k AP an hour. that's 34 hours a toon, for magicka det. that's if I'm doing well in a lag free zone. we're looking at more like 60 hours a toon

    you want pvp skills.
but you do not want to spend the time pvping to get them.

I hate it too, as I would like the skills but get put off by the sheer amount you need for it. However, there are many other threads talking about the same thing that you could comment on or even just read their comments.

Oh btw, it's less likely it'll be closed and more likely it'll be moved to the purgatory that is the Alliance War section of the forums sadly :/

well i only posses 4 chars all of them are at alliance rank 18+ and thus have all the pve "relevant" skills why do i have them? because i actually do pvp and i´m even one of those guys running around in micro groups(<4 players) 99.999% pf the time wich most often does not provide the biggest amounts of AP/timeframe.

as you insist in magica det. you are playing magica chars obviously one of the easiest ways to gather hughe amounts of APs is being a healbitc* for a larger group running around(you do not neccesserily need to be part of that group). its not difficult, its not really entertaining its like grinding mobs...

I see no issue with spreading your total ap to all characters instead of seperate for each. That being said quitting the game because you cant ge proxy det is extreme. I like to pvp but i have to pve to compete, its a grind no matter what you wanna do

While i completely agree with the Alliance war skill line is one of the toughest grinds in the game.. the problem I see with account wide skills is that a veteran that has a very high Alliance War rank could roll an Alt & go into the non-veteran server with all the top AW skills & a really high CP & be almost invincible... which is not what you want in a campaign designed to allow noobs to ease into PVP without getting hammered by vets.

BWB already has lots of Alts (including my Alt!) that have fairly high CP, but they can't really access the top Alliance War skills because they will "Vet out" of the non-veteran campaign. IF the AW skill line was account wide...they could start at lvl10 with proxy det & caltrops!

Hopefully with the VR-CP conversion the CP in non-vet campaigns will not exist anymore as it wouldn't make sense, and this way there'd only be the 1 unfair advantage with PvP skills being account-wide.

I understand what you mean. I have 4 vet level characters. I have recently decided that I was going to level their Alliance skill. My highest at the time, from some casual PvP was rank 4 in the skill line.

    I also suck at PvP.

So when I got a few days where I could play some more, I went to Cyrodiil during the day and tried to get my bearings, joined a small group from my PvP guild when they were running. This was a week before the end of the campaign.

I learned about reward tiers and I got my toon to reward tier 3 and into the top 500 on the EP side.

Of course, I got a few repair kits as my reward. :-P

So I figured that the funnest way to do this, and improve my PvP skills as well is to try and get my three higher level toons to reward tier 3 each campaign (and add my DK to the mix once she finishes Colharbour and the main quest) and just take my time. Other short-term goals include getting enough AP to get an Akaviri motif page.

My main is halfway through tier 5 now, so I will have Barrier soon. For her and my sorc, I will make sure they get Magicka Detonation. For my Templar Caltrops/Barrier are really the important ones. Not sure yet how far my DK is going to go.

All to say: Don't look at it as a big grind for six characters that you need to get done in a month. Take your time, enjoy the scenery. If you find a good PvP guild, you may have an even better time. I've run Azura's some evenings and while we had lag at some points, it was not too bad (though I do log off before Midnight Eastern, so I don't know what it's like after that).

That's how I'm looking at it, and I'm having fun.

Keep in mind ill have to do this 6 times

I also have six alts (see signature block). Not only do we grind to level them, but we also grind for Mage Guild 10 and meteor, we grind for Undaunted 9, we grind for Fighters Guild 10 (tho this is much easier with IC), we grind Legerdemain, etc. You, I, and others posting in this thread are not the only ones with alts and we all go thru this.

That said, doing alts is a choice. It is something we elect to do. And whereas I personally get rather tired of the grind, I understand it and have that sense of accomplishment when I get a toon where I want it.

I am still going thru the grind on some of my alts; only a couple are perfectly where I want them with all skills and accomplishments.

Tho it would be nice for them to make the grind a little bit easier for alts once you have met a certain requisite on your main, I can understand why they have not yet done so. Furthermore, there have been numerous threads on this very issue and, it would seem, the vast majority of the player base says leave it how it is.
    Hamrb wrote: »

Although I feel for ya, simply, no one is making you do this. It is a choice. You do not 'have to' do anything. Leveling alts is a choice. If you do not enjoy leveling them, simply don't and focus on your main.

I'm inclined to agree with the OP.

It would be nice if the PVP ranks were account wide.

It would be nicer though it wasn't a matter of grinding your way trough a lag infested pit, but instead enjoying PVP till you actually rank up.

I just got Vigor today. I am very happy. I can't imagine how much PvP I would have to do to get all the skills. Almost no chance of that happening on any of my characters.

I don't think making any skill line account-wide makes sense. The options are decreasing the needed AP or leaving it as is.

Then again, stuff like this doesn't anger me as it does some. Overall, I did not enjoy trying to get Vigor. I'm not sure I would repeat the process. I do not dislike PvP. I just do not like it enough to play the amount needed to level the alliance skills. In fact, once I leveled up and unlocked Vigor, I started wondering why I was still running around Cyrodiil.
