To whoever or whatever guild is buying going around buying up all the tempering alloy and dreugh wax so they are noe 12k and 7k instead of 7k and 3.5k just two weeks ago I have a message for you. I hope that on Christmas you guys get games that you'll actually do content on instead of spending your time gouging every guild trader in Tamriel. That is all.

TayDibiase✭✭✭Thats not it. When every guild traders prices are pretty much the same something is up. Just 2 weeks ago i was buying gold mats for half the price they are now. And now all of a sudden no one is undercutting 12k for tempering alloy with at least 9k? Nah the markets being manipulated. This isnt my 1st mmo and i know when i go check every guild trader and all their prices match something is up.Average is only the top of the bottom4

✭✭✭✭✭Be a smart shopper and don't buy is what I say. There are other ways to obtain gold improvement mats:
- Refine raw materials
- Do crafting writs
- Turn on hirelings
- Buy through guildies
Let that person next to you pay through the teeth ... especially when a lot of the time purple gear works fine.
Looking back, I can count on two hands the amount of times I've bought items through the guild trader ...1 -

My point of this thread is to let those who are manipulating the market know that i see what they are doing and i hope they find a game they will actually play and have fun at. Spending your time to corner the market so either a. its harder for people to improve gear or b. to become a mulitimillionare. Both ideas are foolish. So what you accumulate 10 mill from the market therre isnt anything in this game that you could spend half that on akavari motifs included. I don't really have enough time to explain what's wrong with your assessment. It's been explained in this thread though when all the prices are the same across the board at guild traders... Kuta for example. Kuta was going for around 7-10k since basically launch. Now? 20K. 20k everywhere not just a certain spot. All of a sudden. No one out there undercuts the 20k? Sure they do but the trading guilds buy them right up and relist for the 20k. ✭✭✭✭✭It's a supply and demand issue unfortunately. Dont get me wrong, if I see undervalued gold mats you had better believe I buy them up, but I dont think its a conspiracy. Writs have become more mat intensive now that they require v16 mats to complete, and drop rates from other areas (hirelings in particular) have been nerfed hard so supply has dropped. Additionally, demand is up now that everyone is re-crafting V16 gear. Now that the dust has settled a bit, a lot of people are committing to new builds and making them gold, sometimes on multiple toons. I just blew through several hundred gold mats myself and actually had to buy some gold mats for the first time since launch.
Econ 101 - A decrease in supply or an increase in demand will cause prices to rise. When both happen at same time, its worse. ESO is a video game economy which is certainly not efficient. Arbitrage is common and swings in prices tend to be greater than what you would expect otherwise.2 -

You realize that this is the game for some people and that they find playing the market like this fun, right?
This is a multi-faceted MMO, some people like dungeons, some PvP, some crafting or RP... and some like to play as market makers. ✭✭✭✭✭You can get an add on that will tell you average prices of just about everything. As more people use that add on price extremes will naturally get closer together. Also the add on will show you really good deals as you are looking for other items. People will take advantage when they see an item on sell for half what the average price is whether they are trying to corner a market or not.
And some people play the game to make gold. To them that is the fun part of the game. They will naturally drift towards the trade guilds with the better locations. Just like some guilds specialize in PvP and can dominate a map these guilds specialize in trading and will dominate the best locations and also have an affect on prices of rare items.

Dammit....now I have to join a trading guild to offload the 4 Kuta I have sitting in my bank.
Eh....nevermind. I'll keep swinging by reddit and will sell them to whomever is looking for a reasonable price. And by reasonable, I don't mean 20k. Although I wouldn't mind it if somebody really wanted to pay that.

Dualrifle✭✭you know, this kind of market strategy is never good. It will affect the consumer that actually want to use it badly.
Gold farming will not change that much, so if last time you need to farm like an hour to buy a 5k tempers, now you need to farm 4 hours because it is 20k now. Sure you can do writs, do refinement, but how realible is that? Unless the rnGod treats you well, you can have multiple bad streak with no result.
I used to do that as well, until I realize how bad it affect other people. I mean how selfish can you be? For your own gain you make a lot of other people game experience harder. But then again since most of them is already selfish to begin with, I doubt any words can reach them.
I dont know where you guys came from, but in my country people who has a lot of money bought a lot of property for "investment", in turn people who actually need the housing will probably never be able to bought a house because house prices went crazy high. However I think supply is low because there is likely a bug with Tempering alloy drop rate from deconning raw material.
I did not have this issue months ago. The drop rate has absolutely been nerfed.1 -

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I burned through 800+ raw ore and didn't get a single temp. Of course, I also got two in a row later, so... I'm pretty sure they RNG in general was nerfed. OFC something is up. The guild makes rules and if you break them you get kicked. Since there is no AH the only way to sell anything is to shout or use the Guild system. It's broken AF and ZOS aren't willing to fix the problem.1 -
