Question About crafting??

Why does there have to be one "crafter" character?? why can't there be one who's good at clothing another woodworking etc.

While i understand that plans for armor lets say cover both blacksmithing and clothing armor for example but what about the rest??

And if so what are the best crafting skills to be on the same character?

Cause my main now is almost 50 on clothing and 40 in blacksmithing and i don't want to waste more skill points also don't want to level them up again on a new character.

I think the best crafting skills to have on one character is blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking because of the motifs. The motifs dont transfer between characters.

If you want to split it the go BS/Wood/Clothing on one and Chef/Enchant/Alchemy on another ( this is what I did )

Its best to have a VR16 to be your crafter for the later motifs, Xivkyn etc since there is several pages

I'm level 50 on everything on my single character. There are enough skill points in the game to afford everything you need

Well, the reasoning behind it is simple.

In ESO you have traits to research, for example Divines on Heavy Chest, Infused on Light Legs, etc. These are all unique and add up to 306 individual traits to research and the most important thing is that each subsequent trait on the same item takes longer to learn.

So, to go from zero traits to nine traits on one item, say, daggers, with all passives and ESO+ it will take 78 days to do so. That's a long damn time. You're looking at well into an entire year to get nine traits on everything.

Here's the rub, these traits are character specific, so if you have nine traits on one character on one item only he can craft items of that set. This means that overall it's more efficient to have all the non-consumable crafts (Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Clothing) on one specific character, especially as you only need one copy of each motif then. If you had one character for each you'd have to get three Glass motifs, for example, which would be prohibitively expensive.

If you want to split your crafts, go Blacksmithing/Clothing/Woodworking on one and Provisioning/Alchemy/Enchanting on another.

However I will add you really don't need to split it over several characters. My main Sorcerer is 50/50 in all crafts with all passives in all crafts and still has 20-ish SP left over with a full DPS build and every skill I could ever need. You just need to get all the skyshards and do all the core quests for around 300 total Skill Points.

Ultimately? It's up to you. However I believe the easiest way is to have all six on one character and be done with it. :).

Interesting, cause I was counting SP to get full crafting skills and they are around 24 each, by my calculations i might be able to get a full 3 crafts besides all the skills I want, but not more. I'm still v8 and just started cadwell's gold so maybe there is still a lot more skills points I'll discover later.

Yes, you're missing a lot of skill points at this stage.

I have 310 Skill Points and I am missing 2 from Mages' Guild final quest and 39 SP from PvP, there are a lot of SP in the game and more than enough to max out all skills.

If you use potions as part of your rotation it's very beneficial to level up alchemy on all characters

Every new trait double the research time.
So two characters with half skill line each will take half the total time to research that one player takes.

So you can have 1 character alchemy/enchanting/proviosioning etc and lose half the passives on each character.
Or you can research half the weapons and half armour on each character and gain all passives at the same time.
ie 9 trait research on 50% of the items.
Anything that can be exploited will be exploited
