Crash after a minute since Orsinium patch

I have a problem - I wrote to the support but no reply yet. For a couple of weeks I was away from the game, and now I returned but I cannot play at all. The game starts fine, and then after some time (between 30 secs and 2 minutes) it crashes. Even on the character selection screen.

There is no error message, just everything freezes on the screen (the music keeps playing). The log is full of such lines:

"2015-12-08T12:39:45.243+01:00 Failed to create vertex buffer: hr=887a0005"

I've tried every trick and checked everything:

- My operating system and my drivers are up-to-date
- My network is rock stable
- There is no overheating issue (checked it with a HW monitor app)
- Deleted all my addons
- Reset all my settings
- Tried to start the game as administrator
- Reinstalled the game (!)
- Switched off my antivirus

Nothing helped. I even rolled back my nvidia driver but the problems occurs with those also. No other game crashes. Any advice is welcome.

Hello @istvan.farkaseb17_ESO, thanks for posting the error you're receiving, that's very helpful. That hr=887a0005 bit is what we want to look at, and that appears to be an issue with your physical video card potentially being loose. For reference, you can actually look up this error here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb509553(v=vs.85).aspx

The description matching your error code states:
"DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED - The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred."

Note that when it says "a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred," it means mid-game, and we can assume that you aren't updating the drivers while the game is running based on your description of the problem.

This can happen consistently or at random intervals if you have a loose card. If possible, it's definitely worth checking that your graphics card is firmly connected. This message can also be deceiving, however, and actually be related to general graphics card and/or driver issues. Certain Nvidia cards have had frequent issues in this area - if you can post the card and drivers that you're using, that could help us narrow it down more. You've mentioned that you have already tried rolling back your drivers with no success, so it might not be a driver issue, but if possible, it may be worth trying other driver versions as well.

Mmm, I will check the video card, but otherwise my system is stable, I play a few demanding games (Ark: Survival Evolved with my kid for example), and there are no problems there.

I attached the output of the game advisor.

Ok, I checked the card to see if it is loose or not - it wasn't. And I rolled back to a driver I was using when the game was still working (2 versions back from latest) - same issue unfortunately.

Errors in the log are the same:

2015-12-09T15:20:32.795+01:00 Failed to create vertex buffer: hr=887a0005
2015-12-09T15:20:32.926+01:00 Failed to create vertex buffer: hr=887a0005
2015-12-09T15:20:33.859+01:00 Failed to create index buffer: hr=887a0005
2015-12-09T15:20:33.859+01:00 Failed to create vertex buffer: hr=887a0005

I!ve ran a malware check, just to be sure, but no malware was detected. Also I tried to use different nVidia settings.

    I'm out of ideas.

I am having this very same issue.

    My specs:
    Windows 7 64bit
    Nvidia GTX 960

Samsung 128GB SSD for my hard drive

Didnt have this issue before. Now its exactly like OP says. Just crashes a few minutes after I log in. And no, my graphics card isnt loose... I thought that was a joke when you said it lol. Seriously folks. I'm sure you guys had some laughs at that huh? Maybe we will have to check the flux capacitor next lol. Good one.

    Thanks!
