A serious talk about AOE and caps

So I been having a talk with the guild. Who remembers before IC when people would be in a keep for 20-30 minutes with 40 meteors going off and 20 banners as the servers struggled to cope with th stress caused on its servers.

My question is, if AOE caps are removed, will this ridiculous lag come back?

    tbh i doubt it, it hasn't really left to begin with, but with it being all are hit with no calculations of who gets the reduction and who doesnt etc, would ease it some.

    if anything tho they need to nerf the cost of Barrior as this can contribute to alot of ball groups reaching the point of lagdom

    IC did exactly nothing in terms of aoe caps. The caps were the same in 1.6 then they are now.

    Lag is one thing.

    What confuses me is why don't people care about the removal of AoE caps increasing the problem of AoE spam?

    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    That can go both ways tho, if 3 guys outside the range from a 25 man blob drop meteor on them it's going to be a wipe.

    Well I don't remember when it was but I remember keeps taking 20-30 minute to cap as the AOE hits were not registering which would result in masses of people stacked on a flag spamming AOE making it worse which would cause it to drag out + go on for so long even more people would turn up.

    I vaguely remember it being before the AOE caps were introduced?
